Best of a bad bunch I suppose. But, a downgrade on Pearson, so an utterly pointless change.
Any of the names that were mentioned felt like a downgrade if we're being honest, I don't think we would've come out thrilled with whoever it was (and I say that even though I was quite keen on Williams myself).
Well, let's hope Eustace's good start with Brum this year means he's figured something out and can bring that here.

Did he get Notts County to outperform what was expected of the squad at the level they are at?
That's the requirement here. Our squad is clearly not top 6 (whatever the owners think), and our wage budget certainly isn't (likely something around 12th, possibly even lower).
So we're looking for someone capable of making a squad be more than the sum of its parts. We need to coach these players to a level where they can consistently win against the odds, where we can outpost performances that are capable of delivering unexpected points.
Is that what he did at NC? Or where they a big fish in a small shitty pond?
Honest question as I don't really know.
I feel like it's a little bit of both, I think he did very well to hang on with the Hollywood money over at Wrexham in the NL but realistically those two teams were clearly at least a step above the others, and that might be putting it mildly.
Not that it matters much now since it looks like Eustace is the guy.

Thanks. What happened to him at Swindon?
From the little I remember hearing from Swindon fans back then, mixture of inexperience and meddling from the chairman at the time. Ultimately it's been 6/7 years since then and he's been at many clubs in the meantime so not sure how much stock do we want to put on that spell (but at least the chairman meddling could end up relevant considering the Lansdowns).

I believe this was the case, yes (though unsure how it compared to Chesterfield for example who I think have a good amount of money themselves). Even this year bringing in David McGoldrick, I think I read somewhere that he took less money than what he was getting at Derby to come back to his boyhood club but still having that sort of player at a League Two level is no joke.

I know nothing about Williams if anyone fancies sharing?
Uses a 3 centre back system, massive focus on possession (Notts has averaged over 60% both last year in the National League and so far this year in League Two). This article is a good read and goes a little more in depth. As others have mentioned he's worked here before with the youth sides so I imagine he'll be somewhat familiar with the lads who've made the step up from the academy.
I mentioned it in another thread but he's probably the only realistic option where I'd still be excited to have him on despite all the turmoil that seems to be happening around the club.

It doesn’t matter who we bring in , Brian Tinnion will be the real manager.
Perhaps, don't want to go full doom and gloom just yet (although I'm bloody close!).

I could get myself excited for Luke Williams and maybe Eustace, not sure I could do the same for all the other candidates mentioned here.

He was that much of a bellend that reading that statement got a little smile out of me, even though I couldn't think of two parties more suited to each other. **** him.

Don’t fall for that one ,
In fairness they've got Mumba, Whittaker, Azaz and Hardie who's the league's top scorer right now all on the bench. Not sure about 2nd team (wouldn't really know) but I think we can definitely say it's not their strongest side.

Yes it is a bit confusing as they don’t give exact numbers.
This was from the official site today.
It says nearly 3000 at Preston and just over 3000 tomorrow making NEARLY 6000

They tweeted (or x'd? not sure what you call it these days) on friday the 3400 figure.

The fact they did it to themselves makes it all the more sweeter.

Harry Hill collar is no more? The inconsistency is what baffles me the most in all of this to be honest, it's like every other week there's been a little change made.

I give it until the end of the year for him to go full Matt Le Tissier.

Funny how he stopped responding to getting called out and moved on to something else, isn't it? As if he has no clear evidence for his weird fantasy...

Joey Barton and Jevani Brown or as some might call it, a match made in heaven.
******* disgrace of a football club.

Well, if that isn't convenient...

If they want £4m then Mark Ashton is their man. Though being an expert at trading he may try to talk them up to £5m.
Very good point, £6m it is!

In answer to the topic title - No.
They could make international Football much better though. Get rid of Uefa Nations League and reduce the 24 team Euros back down to 16. It would mean the stakes are higher in Qualifying matches.
Disagree regarding the Nations League. You'd only get more friendlies in its place and the lower leagues + the final four teams are usually well up for it (having seen it in the flesh when Portugal won the first edition). You'd be taking that away and replacing it with nothing.

Knowing what we know and have heard from reporters, I feel like the folks looking for 4 million are going to end up a bit disappointed (unless the bidding war really heats up and we stick around).

Anything involving Jorge Mendes I'm just going to assume from the get go that there's some sort of shenanigans involved.

Some sort of disagreement over transfers or something, surely? Absolutely crazy decision from the outside, guess the new owners want to make their mark already.
Watch them give it to Jesse Marsch.

Think @Ivorguy might be talking about the report from the Post? They mentioned Tinnion was there but so was Ali Hines, not sure if we can take that as evidence that Tinnion was in charge.
