  1. Like this move a lot, very well spoken from the first interview. Scottish contingent slowly growing!

Repeatedly calls us 'City' during his day 1 interview. Great start. Maybe on Scotty's advice?

I'd be surprised if every new signing isn't told in some capacity about it, just an easy way to endear themselves from the get go and it's good to see.

Could just be wanting to do a session to maintain levels, would you rather go to a local gym, go for a run in public (but that depends where you live of course) or use exceptional facilities to do it where it’s likely to be quiet

I think he mentions in the video about wanting to bulk up a bit before pre-season. Fully agree.

I've grown to hate the O'Neill's kit, looks cheap and nasty

I actually quite like the home kit, I think it looks great, it's the yellow one that's a bit shit in my opinion. And I doubt the robin badge was a call from O'Neill's so I feel like that kit would've never had a chance in the first place, whoever's making it.

Fulham's retained list needs to come out first, unless I have missed it?

Hasn't come out yet from what I'm seeing.

No clue if Joe's coming but with him in France it was never going to happen this week. For the most part, as far as big leagues go, Germany and the Bundesliga are the only place where it's not uncommon for clubs to announce signings while the players haven't finished their season. Whatever happens, we'll find out in due time I'm sure

    Okay, who had 31st May?

Swear it gets earlier every year.

I'm placing my bet next year on while our season is still going.

Looking forward to the day people starting demanding summer signings on February 1st.

  6. I've always liked Jay and massive respect for the way he handled himself in a contract year so wish him all the best. With us having Pring (and who knows if in a few weeks we aren't talking about having Joe Bryan too although I'm not as optimistic as some) it makes sense to go our separate ways.

  7. It also speaks to the ridiculousness that is football pricing in England that these schemes find so much success. Over here in Portugal for example you can get pretty much every Premier League game for just 10 euros a month and you can choose if you want it through your cable provider or online streaming.

I know he has already broken through from the academy but the injuries mean Benarous has to re-establish himself. He's immensely talented and it must have been a mental and physical struggle with the cruciate ligament injury reoccurrence. It would be great to see him back, playing at the same level as before and for him to have an injury-free season.

Joe Low is an interesting one and was just selected for the Wales squad.  I honestly don't know if he is ready to compete for a place at Championship level.  I suppose it comes down to whether the mistakes he has made for the first team and recently for an academy game were down to nerves or just simply because he isn't ready.  Probably the latter. There will be a couple of centre-backs signed and Atkinson should return from injury as well but if Kalas doesn't sign and Vyner doesn't extend and City cash in with just a year left on his contract then there might be sub-bench opportunities for Low.

Palmer-Houlden could have a breakthrough year despite the number of strikers we have on paper. Wells' goals dried up, Weimann struggled last season, Cornick still has to prove he is better than a late impact substitution player and Bell appears to play better out wide. That leaves Conway as the main striker. Palmer-Houlden seems to have that same natural scorers instinct and he's got the aerial ability to play centrally.  I suspect that if Scott is sold, another striker to compete for Conway's position will be signed.

Not sure what to make of Low, most Walsall fans I see aren't too complimentary of him. I agree especially if Vyner re-signs that it's gonna be difficult for him to win a spot here.

If we're not talking purely making the 1st team but actually being a regular, I think Benarous is the most obvious choice. Hopefully most of his injury woes are behind him now.

  9. Quote

After Ligue 1 with Saint-Étienne, his training club, and Ligue 2 with Pau for a four-month trial from February to May, Stefan Bajic had a decisive choice to make for his future. The young goalkeeper (20 years old) opted at the beginning of July for an adventure at Bristol. He signed for the next three seasons. After an English lesson on Wednesday, the U-21 international explained to us the reasons that pushed him to cross the Channel to play in the Championship.

    "Why did you choose Bristol?
I was coming off a successful gamble at Pau. Bristol came to us with information. It all clicked when I visited their facilities. I was impressed, I spoke with the members of the staff (coach, assistant, goalkeeper trainer, physical trainer). I liked their ambitious speech and I felt that it was the best place to continue to progress.

Before this visit, how did you feel about this English interest?
I was a bit like any Frenchman when it comes to the Championship: I didn't know much about it. This Championship has nothing to do with Ligue 2, there is a very good level. I was able to see that by watching my team's friendlies. I've had the chance to play in L1 and L2: I see the level between the five best in L2 and the second part of the table in L1. It's really an intermediate league.

"I was also in contact with Valenciennes. I hesitated for a long time because it was a very interesting project to confirm in L2.

Did you have other possible destinations before making this choice?
I was also in contact with Valenciennes. I hesitated for a long time because it was a very interesting project to confirm in L2 after four months in Pau. Going to England is a risk but I chose Bristol because I thought that it was there that I would make the most progress in the long term. I am convinced that they will help me to reach new heights.

As a goalkeeper who thinks a lot about the evolution of the position, how can the Bristol club help you?
Before I went there, I analysed the Championship matches. It's a very physical championship. The goalkeeper is much less protected there than in France. In the air, I'll have to be twice as good. There is also the management of my area. A goalkeeper must not only be good on the line. I have to be higher up in my position, manage the depth which is one of my strong points. My footwork too. In England, it is very developed. The blocks are higher.

Is there a certain amount of risk involved when you join the 17th (out of 24) in the Championship?
There is always some risk in a new project. If I had signed at VA, there would have been another element of risk. For me, there is no good or bad project. There is one and it's me through what I do that makes it good or bad.

How is your adaptation going so far?
I am recovering from a wrist operation. In February, I injured myself. I was in pain but I didn't know I had a scaphoid fracture. It was only at the end of the season that I had an X-ray and it was detected. The club doesn't want to take any risks and it takes a few more weeks to recover. I'm also working on the side: the footwork, I'm doing lower body strength training."

I don't think it was known what sort of injury it was (or maybe it was, I can be a bit aloof). But from the man himself, should be a couple more weeks while he's recovering from surgery.

Thanks for the links chaps. LastPass tells me I already have an account, so like Fevs, I must have signed up for last season's game. Maybe we'll be decked out in our new away strip for the game ...

Ideally we would, green and red combo sounds like a nightmare for colourblind people.

Honestly, even that could be an understatement. Guy's gone completely mental.

That was a direct reference to Klose.

By far the most interesting bit for me was him pretty much confirming we would continue with 3 at the back (& wing backs) when he said we wouldn’t be changing much from last season.

Makes the recruitment of Kane Wilson much more logical.

Not only Kane but Kal as well, he really shone for Luton last year in a back 3.
