Cardiff, Coventry, PNE & Middlesbrough all lose tomorrow whilst City win would see City 8th with one game to go. 🤞

We can all dream can't we. After all, a unique and unlikely set of results can occur; just ask Rovers about the 2013-14 season. 😁

Ummm we can only go ahead of Cardiff tomorrow. All the others are already 4 points ahead of us.

Cardiff also playing boro so both can't lose

  2. Without doubt he is having a great season scoring wise but the obsession is unreal.

Apart from this season his scoring stats (which everyone is obsessed with) are either OK or not great.

I really don't blame the club for not playing him. It wasn't like he was head and shoulders above pato or Palmer at the time

Respect to those who live locally and this is by no means a competition or remark on other fans, I’m a Bristolian from birth but haven’t lived there for a good 20 odd years and unlikely to ever move back. That said I am a season ticket holder of over 30 years yet feel frustrated in many aspects.

Well I guess to start with, it costs probably £100 a home game without season ticket, so every game is an away game, six hour round trip, yet you don’t feel you get plaudits for that or recognition, believe me it ruins your Saturday more than a 20 min drive home (I’ve done both and for sure it hurts more as you sit on the journey mulling it over and get home late!).

You get the odd ‘home’ game in London fair enough, but you still pay for your match ticket and travel!

You can’t even listen to City on Radio Bristol without paying! Because you are a city fan who doesn’t live in the area….I mean how unfair is that?! So if you can’t make a game as an exile you are essentially out of pocket either way. A local fan who cannot make it can pass the time by switching on local radio.

Basically I think us exiled fans deserve a form of loyalty! Now whether that’s loyalty points for distance travelled overall, discount off merchandise, or a free home shirt, but minimum allow exiled ST holders free radio commentary coverage!

I could easily get a season ticket at Arsenal tomorrow or West Ham. But they aren’t my club, City are, however I probably spend more than a season ticket at both those clubs combined to watch Champ football at AG. So, what can be done to encourage that and commend those supporters (many I know on here) who commit huge amounts of time and money to get to home games, plus the fact travel away most weeks too. Interesting debate, appreciate life is about choices, but some are enforced too and one thing we cannot lose is our first love - our football club!

Why should you be rewarded for making a decision to move away? That is your choice not to live in Bristol.

I have never lived in Bristol (ok a lot closer than london) but even in wiltshire its a 68 mile round trip and I don't have the luxury of 5 home games in Wiltshire.

The club can be criticised for a lot of things at the moment but you choosing to not live in Bristol and still follow the team is not one of them.

Surely on the Internet these days you could get a link to radio Bristol?

Absolutely dire stuff but I think the result kicks the can down the road for at least a few weeks.

The only positive was our first two subs improved us & he did today what he should have done in midweek, brought King on to help us see the game out.

Personally think it's more than a few weeks. The result should put a safe now and so buys him the season and at least 10 games next season.

1st time as a city supporter that because of the above reasons I am not sure I am happy about the result.

Don't care if anyone thinks this makes me less of a fan but I feel we are being set back massively by keeping the current regime

  5. Sorry but completely disagree. We weren't the better side today, it was 2 crap sides but they wanted it a little more. After the 1st 20 mins we did nothing.

As for not his players, this is the "great coach" who can make players better. We'll I am certainly not seeing that and at least seen commitment under Pearson. Pearson had to bring a starting 11 together from nothing and got us going. For Manning to have "his" players that is going to coat a lot of money.

Would much rather we got rid now and give someone a real chance to move us forward again. Would love for that to be Pearson under new ownership but that won't happen.

I wanted to start a new thread on this, not so much Max himself but the tactics of the distribution.

I don't quite understand the passing to the wings, it seems to me that it has a low success percentage, but it has been used by successive managers and goalkeepers.

If the ball is over hit possession is given away, if it is under hit, you run the risk of an interception that takes the receiving player out of the defensive shape. That's before you have the issue of the likes of Bell and Mehmeti trying win the ball in the air. It's not so bad with Ross and Cam playing, but it still requires a degree of accuracy that few goalkeepers possess.

Then you have the situation last night where, having made two good blocks and having the crowd calling his name, obviously gets a rush of adrenalin and hoofs the ball a mile out of play.

I don't quite see what the advantage is compared to playing through the middle, unless any of the coaches on here can explain it to me?

Most clubs do it and last night as an example is why.... Max cleared it straight down the middle and there player won the header and the ball landed straight at the feet of the midfielder who the broke straight onto our defence.

If you play it to the wing the likelihood of being under pressure is low if you don't win it.

Also straight down the middle a defending team has a major advantage of winning it as you are coming onto the ball where attacking team have to try and flick it on. Put it to the wing as all of a sudden it 50/50 rather than 70/30

Yep, can't remember the last time pring made a cross like Roberts can deliver

Exactly this. Like I say I really like Pring and it certainly I am certainly not critising him but it is what I believe is holding him back from the next level.

I'm not from Bristol but had loads of mates who typically support prem sides for no connection what so ever asking about him after the Westham game and said the exact thing there. If he could deliver on end product he would be a very good prem left back buy he can't cross overly well and can't shoot

Decent. But hes no Cam Pring! Not a bad backup though!

Pring is all action and great to watch but his final ball isn't very good.i actually thought Roberts gave us a much better attack down the left

Max has made some great saves over the season. As somebody has said well thats he job thats what he is payed for. He has also cost us some points, it happens. Nigel dropped Bentley and gave Max his chance. I feel Max needs to be droped and Sefan given a run of  games. then by the end of the season we could say we have two very good goalkeppers or we move them both on. Then spend some big money getting in the best goalkepper we can afford. I remember Brian Clough saying Peter Shilton gave Forest 20 points a season. All good sides are built from the back, so lets start with number 1.

Think the difference is bentley I believe was dropped because he was on far more money and wasn't the future of the club.

If we drop Max we aren't saving a lot and I am sure the coaches already know if Sefan is up to it or not. If we are getting a new keeper in at any point I think that decision will already be made.

    When!

Second half he made a lung bursting run full length of the pitch counter attack, leaving all our attackers in his wake, the touch he then had in the box took him just fractionally too wide for a clear shot at goal with w defenders closing him down. Would have taken Messi to control and finish that - he's a Left back!

I really like watching pring but agree with a lot of points about his delivery and  shooting but as said if he had those strengths nailed he 100% wouldn't be here.

The chance you highlight shows why I love watching him with his 100% attitude and making that run all the way up the pitch but also highlights the difference top level players have. I think most top players step over that ball with the awareness to know wells has a free shot.

Not a critism of spring but just the fine margins that define the top level players. That being said maybe he will learn those instincts

  11. I was a huge Pearson fan and thought he should of being backed and not sacked like many others but in Mannings defence here it was recently stated on one of the games that he has only had a handful of training sessions because of the busy schedule.

I'm not saying his coaching will transform this "top 6 squad" into that but he does need a fair chance.

Agree with the intention of the post though that we don't have a top 6 side, but we do have a side that will give anyone a tough game and will pick up the odd result. The quality in the final third is lacking massively for creativity.

  12. For me the things Naismith does well at, he looks a real star of a player and could play higher.

Then the flip side is he makes some stupid mistakes and switches off.

Personally I don't like him at CB because of the mistakes and I don't think he is good enough to get in our midfield, that being said we does miss his ball playing skill when he isn't in the team
