It's been mentioned before, but worth saying again (as in New York, New York so good they named it twice) - it was crazy to sign Kasey Palmer after signing Szmodics. Without Palmer Szmodics might have had a chance with City

I don't get this. If szmodics wasn't good enough to dislodge Palmer from the team and then Palmer wasn't good enough for the team why would szmodics then be good enough.

  2. Where does the club stand on what we have to offer him?

Obviously he is entitled to his wages but can we say to him he isn't able to use any facilities or train at all with us.

I get this will mean his fitness won't be upto scratch and it may make it harder to loan or sell him but if he is really that bad attitude wise surely it will be better to have him as far away as possible from any players.

    Who says they had security?

Most clubs at this level probably don’t & could hardly anticipate something mindless like this happening in June.

Can’t see that it is “dodgy” at all, what could Plymouth possibly gain here? Their pitch has been damaged & they’ll have to pay to get it sorted.

    Really depressing news.

Quite possibly but I just feel something sounds a bit dodgy about it. Insurance claim?

They’d have gone down last season if it wasn’t for points deductions. Actually thought last couple of seasons they could’ve done alright but they’ve always found themselves sucked in a relegation battle. If there are no big changes at the club then I think this could be the year they drop

I get what you are saying bug I don't get why this point get brought up. Derby and Reading had points deducted because they cheated. If they hadn't of  cheated it could be argued that they would have worse teams and still would have finished below Brum or anyone else.

Problem with that is, you will make it very difficult for any newly promoted team to compete and the gap between the Premiership and Championship will get even wider. Imagine if we (ever) get promoted - we'd need to spend a significant amount to invest in players capable of keeping us there, but at the huge risk that we go straight back down and then likely go into administration

Interesting idea from the OP regards points deductions. I can't see it passing though. Simply because by definition the bigger clubs (getting PP) get more say in the matter than smaller clubs.

Surely teams should have to negotiate with players that in the case of relegation that they have a reduction in wages. After all they are part of the issue that said club got relegated. That way they get there nice big prem wage which reduces as they go down. To protect the player as well they could have it written in that on relegation the club has to accept bids of a certain value if they want an easy release to get back to a top flight club.

A great column by City fan Matt Withers in today's Bristol Post.

Bristol City old boys Joe Bryan and Bobby Reid deserve our gratitude and respect, not boos - Bristol Live (bristolpost.co.uk)

In my opinion the boo boys can stick it up their Arsenal and aren't real fans.

I wasn't there and if I was I wouldn't boo but who are you to say who is and isn't a real fan.

Everyone has there own opinion on things in life and as long as it doesn't over step the mark and become racist or something else like that then let it be.

Not having a pop at the young lad. But with wells very unlikely to start Saturday it baffles me why he was taken of. I think if wells had them chances we’d of been at least 1-0 up.

I'm not sure Wells would have got himself in that position to begin with for him to be able to miss/score 5he chance

Why does it have to be Bristolians?

So Max O’Leary wouldn’t be eligible because he was born a whole 11 miles away? Did we see Rob Newman (Bradford-on-Avon) or Atyeo (Dilton Marsh) as not “home grown”?

I prefer the Athletic Bilbao definition myself, which is not only birth but school & area that you see as local to your club (for us that’s Glos & Somerset) so where did you grow up.

If you add Lloyd Kelly, Joe Bryan, Alfie Jones, Jordan Storey, Herbie Kane, Bobby Reid to our current Academy crop then it would certainly compete.

So you get annoyed that Bradford and Dilton Marsh aren't include but then go on to say it should  be Bristol, Somerset and Gloucester. Do you realise these 2 places are both in Wiltshire

  9. Kelly has always come across as an intelligent lad and not one to be chasing the money. I really can't see him leaving Bournemouth who are likely to get promotion for Newcastle who stand a good chance of getting relegated. If he goes up with Bournemouth and plays well he will pick up another prem side in a year ( possibly Newcastle then)

I’m not sure how good a defence it is for the club to say “we didn’t know”, however long ago it was.  The fact is that the club should have known and should have done something to stop it.

So by that assumption every paedophile or murder should be known by the company they work for so then all companies become liable.

If Man City were aware then I agree they have a case to answer but i don't agree that they are guilty just because they employed the guy

Reading the news this morning, and came across this story:

    https://news.sky.com/story/barry-bennell-paedophile-ex-coach-to-give-evidence-for-manchester-city-after-club-is-sued-by-eight-men-12444619

Barry Bennell is serving 30+ years for sexual abuse he carried out when working as a youngster's football coach.

However, 8 men are suing Man City for damages. To counter this, quite surprisingly, Man City are going to call him up as a witness.

Now, right or wrong, that's up to them to call upon who they wish, but I can't be alone in thinking that with all the money Man City have got, why not just agree to a settlement? We know the horrendous crimes took place, he's not a credible witness, and surely this hurts their PR? Not entirely sure what they gain from this.

Surely if man city pay up they are admitting that the club itself was aware and did wrong? It was awful what happened but the person has been punished and I am not sure the club should pay up regardless of how much money they have

"Will cut up more". That sounds like it does now. Have you ever looked at it carefully after two matches on consecutive days in rainy weather? I have and it resembles a billiard table.

The Dessa pitch is very resistant to having lumps kicked out of it. There are pieces of polypropylene cord (or string) 20 centimetres long implanted vertically into the soil at 2cm in both directions. They protrude above soil by about 5mm. The purpose of them is for the grass roots to entwine with them. This minimises grass roots being kicked out of the ground. The green grass may go but as the roots remain, grass will grow again.

As for the old days when football was played in all weathers and became sodden due to poor drainage, the level of the pitch was raised by approx 35 cm with a totally new drainage system installed. So rainwater disappears from the surface very quickly.

Sorry if I sound overbearing but I made a point of reading the Desso data when the pitch was installed at a cost of £1.5 million. So City's pitch is up there with the best. One day we might match them in a game on it for season after season.

I admit my wording may not have been great but you are really grasping at one small part. Even though if it cuts up a little bit than would still be "cut up more" than not at all.

I know our pitch is great but I admit I am not as informed as you are when it comes to grass. The more games you put on any pitch I would have thought ups the risk of damage especially with bad weather but to be honest I am not really that fussed as it isn't happening and I really don't care about grass as much as you.

If you are referring to the Ashton Gate pitch, we have had football and rugby on it since the new pitch was introduced about six years ago.

Have you seen it "cut up" at any time because me and many thousands of other City and Bears have not.

It is among the very best pitches in the country, superbly designed and maintained to an amazing standard by the ground staff.

I know it is a great pitch. What I am saying is if we have another set of fixtures on the pitch it gives less time for ground keepers and what ever work they do between the current fixtures with extra games on the pitch.

Think you are jumping on a comment and taking it as though I am slagging the club off.

I can’t imagine it’s great for anyone to be trying to play a game with 1000 or so rattling about in a stadium that holds closer to 28,000.

I would also add we already have the rugby and football on there so another set of fixtures is going to cut up the pitch more I would have thought

The final option is the only realistic one.  Much better to tinker with a season that's not yet started then mess about with one 75% complete.

Now, factor in the 2022 World cup being in November and December and the possibility of amended seasons really seems to become more likely.

They moved the Rugby season around this year and had the 3rd competition as a pre-season thing.

I think the rest of the season could be played out in maybe 8 to 10 weeks including Europe and FA Cup.  Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday. Then have a few weeks of international football with the Euro 21 play offs before a new season starts.  The new season will have to be condensed somehow. No international windows.  Maybe knock the Euros back to later in the summer?

If the season is extended, then all contracts should be extended on the same terms until the end.  Then have a window..

It's all well and good saying that but players by that point may have agreements in place to go else where.

Oh. Is the flu not contagious. Cancer and heart attacks kill more people every day than the corona virus does at his present time

I'm guessing I am completely missing your point. Yes they may kill more people but if you isolated people with cancer or heart problems it wouldn't stop others getting it, where as you stop people with a virus it helps to contain it.
