  1. ... forgot to add he was very good going forward as well and he's got a decent pass in him. As I've already said Bromley should have been 3 up in the first 15 minutes. All the trouble was coming down the right, including the set up for the early goal. Highlights (but bear on mind Yeovil have also got a player called Fisher to confuse things):
  2. Yes, he looked good - always positioned well and never beaten. Always difficult to tell - he was up against an opponent who had reasonable skills but always came inside before running into traffic. Not once was he tested by someone trying to get down the line. (Shumumni himself was that side as well and he looked better than National League standard). Enjoyed watching Bromley but Yeovil weren't much of a test.
  3. Went to see Yeovil vs Bromley last weekend. Yeovil were dreadful. A couple of decent players and a number of new signings that hadn't even trained together, let alone played together. Defence look like they'd never met, going forward had no energy and carried no threat. Bromley should have been 3 up after 15 minutes. Mark Cooper said afterwards in his interview that the new owner was buying the players he wanted (the owner that is). Sadly, relegation looking very likely - a pity for the very pleasant fans I was sat with. (On the bright side £5 in, good pasty and Bromley had a player called Shuwumni, which brought back the odd memory).
  4. Yup, you don't need to get into the wrong part of that city. Driving around Naples is fun as well - lunatics who think red traffic lights are only advisory. Won't go back.
  5. Starting to look like a Jamal Campbell-Ryce tribute act.
  6. Am sure the same could have been said of Forest last year and they're now 13th in the Prem. Opportunities don't come often and whenever the next happens it will be difficult. Not likely we'll do it this year but if we can we should make the most of it. If we don't then we could end up losing some good young players and the cycle starts again. Sooner the better for me. COYR!
  7. 2-1 up now. The old rogue's at it again...
  8. I did just that last week, leaving a putt well short. "Does your wife know you putt like that?" was a mates instant question. Another favourite was being told that there was 'sh!t on the end of your driver'. I look at the head of the driver, and said mate says "No, other end". Standard old school banter as you say. Nothing to see here...
  9. Time I replaced my ageing laptop and have been thinking about a Chromebook. Still need to use Word and Excel and believe that can be done through a Web service. Other than that only do a bit of browsing and access streaming services. Would appeciate any opinions or experience people have have - good or bad. Thanks....
  10. Not exactly everyone's cup of tea but would have been better than some of the jokers he did appoint.
  11. Good luck to Dan if he goes - as you say right for everybody. I share your reservations on Max and curse the day we let Maenpaa go. Hope we've got a loan keeper lined up as back up.
  12. I'd much rather we fixed ourselves on having a better future and celebrating something significant than clinging to the odd good day. 'Too easily satisfied' would be s good club motto for us.
  13. Agree with all that but would add the win at Anfield 30 years ago. Every time I walk past that wall in the South Stand celebrating that win and Tinnion's goal I think the same thing - Tinpot.
  14. Yup, thought it was very poor - particularly the last appearance which had him larking about in midfield for a few minutes. No doubt Atyeo appeared for many more minutes that Carey and therfore always the leader for appearances to my eye.
  15. Any chance you could start parking at the Memorial Stadium?
  16. Clearly searching to that level can't work practically. The only way of stopping this is for good CCTV and very large punishments. Bans that aren't at all well enforced don't seem to do much either. If someone let one of these things off in Broadmead am sure the police would be involved and there would be criminal charges. Don't see why this should't be the case in a densely packed football stadium.
  17. Not an English folk song bit can I suggest Hit The Road Jack?
  18. I'm sure that's true as well but, and I'm sorry to be brutal here, Steve's ego will die with him when the time comes. Not sure that Jon has the ability or even inclination to take on what Steve has built and would think that Steve knows this and won't want to leave his remaining family with problems. I think it's what native Bristolians call a dilemmal. I hope Steve manages to work all this out and lives many years yet - he's done many great things for the club and the city and his legacy is already secure IMO.
  19. Nail on the head. The sense of entitlement from some of our so called supporters is ridiculous.
  20. Steve has turned 70 and is, I believe, starting to think about what he is leaving behind him. At the moment City are a club that requires regular large injections of capital and a lot of financial expertise in managing his large and complicated portfolio. Maybe he's reached the conclusion that he can't just expect Jon to take sole control or handle a sale and is looking or someone to come in. Perhaps his best route in attracting an investor will be to split the Bristol Sport empire up into saleable chunks. Wouldn't surprise me in the least, and if that happens there could be very nervy times ahead for the football club.
  21. I know he had a couple of EuroPro comps back in 2021 whilst attached to Mendip Spring but didn't make the cut in either, so think will struggle at that level. That said I can certainly see a good future for him as a teaching pro and also on the county and South West circuits which he could mix in with celebrity events/pro ams etc. Whatever he does I wish him well - very good cricketer and first rate guy.
  22. I very much doubt it - there's a vast gulf between scratch handicappers from clubs and what tour pros are capable of. Not to mention that the set up of golf courses for tour events is much more difficult to that experienced by mere mortals.
  23. Oh well, when one door closes another door opens. Or was it wheel?
  24. Wasn't Pulis poached by Portsmouth? Staggering I know, but I can remember feeling very grateful to Pompey for quite a while. Maybe my memory's finally gone.
