  1. Anyone know if block A Williams has sold out. Was bloody busy last Sunday..wonder if any tix were left after then? We rocked up before 10 and loadsa people were in t queue before us...

I believe block A Williams is only for renewals eg no new sales in that area. Therefore I am guessing you mean block E and F of Williams; block E (singing area at back of stand) has sold out, last I heard there were still spaces in F.

  2. When the fixture lists are released in the summer months, each club has a short period to apply to the Football League for changes. At the time, the incumbent management staff decided it did not wish to switch the fixture.

In Sky Bet League One, all but two fixtures were switched to Good Friday.

Sheffield United switched their home game with Stevenage at the end of March, a fact that came to light when the latest PA fixture list was distributed amongst clubs this week.

That left Bristol City and Notts County as the only clubs playing Saturday-Monday over Easter, putting them at a huge disadvantage against their rivals.

It was only once the Sheffield United-Stevenage switch was confirmed that Bristol City and Notts County enquired to the Football League as to whether a fixture change could still be made.

The club fully appreciates this puts pressure on supporters who may have made plans for the Easter weekend, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

At the same time, to give the team the best chance of preparing properly for both Easter games and securing its League One status, it was decided to press ahead with the fixture change.

Supporters who have purchased match tickets will be able to claim a refund up until kick-off (3pm) on Friday (April 18th).

Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

This statement is the most recent story added to the official site but is considered the 4th most important judging by the size and position on the page. Just about sums up the clubs attitude.

  3. "The switch has been agreed between the two clubs". What about the fans who have made arrangements? They weren't consulted.

Refunds available for the match tickets if you can't make the new date but did anyone consider the fans who've bought train tickets etc?

And season ticket holders who had 'bought' tickets for all matches and maybe now can't make this match due to the short notice cancellation!

  4. To be fair, I've never had a problem going to or leaving AG on a match day, and I've lived away from Bristol or WOT or Longwell Green. Then again, I do tend to get around the ground early and the biggest crowds have been 19k or so in recent years, if we ever fill the redeveloped stadium it may well be different.

I am in a similar situation and hopefully the reopened railway (if it ever happens!) will help greatly. Brighton have limited traffic issues surrounding the Amex due to the great incorporation with the local station.

  5. On the subject of the new ground, whilst I'm not overly impressed with the appearance (I'm obviously biased and I don't expect my opinion to shared by most neutral football fans), I can understand why Rovers want it so badly. I've noticed on Facebook a fair few Gasheads making grand predictions about how the balance of power in Bristol football is changing...City will be left behind etc etc. the thing is, talk is cheap and the pressure is on you, especially as it appears that we will also have a much improved ground plus revenue from the Rugby. You get a new ground, we get our home of 100+ years brought into the 21st Century. No envy here because I genuinely wouldn't swap AG for a carbon copy UWE Stadium, no matter how much some of your fellow fans would love to believe otherwise. Older Gasheads would no doubt feel the same attachment to Eastville.

    Let the games begin.

Fully agree. I would rather have our spiritual home redeveloped than a new idenkit bowl on the edge of the city.

Plus all this talk of Bristol rovers being the larger club etc, their ground is only due to hold 22,000 until they can prove their is demand for more seats which on recent attendances is a long way off. We meanwhile will be up to 27,000 and the advantage of the groundshare with the rugby to share costs.

Don't think rovers will be catching up with us commercially anytime yet but a little competition never hurt anyone!

  6. spoke to someone tonight and Rovers are sure the UWE stadium will be open for the 1st home game of 2015/16... the stadium will be built and fitted out for football 1st& foremost to ensure its ready for that date... conferencing, gym ect can wait a few months for their fit out ect.

Building has to start by late june at the latest for this to happen,

Buckingham group who are the contractors have a large work force on sight already doing prep work, not the sign of a company who appear worried

The prep work is probably linked to environmental legislation particularly surrounding nesting birds and mammals. Certain activities have to be completed before the nesting season (widely accepted to be 1st April) or they are legally forced to delay to winter. Nick Higgs having experience of construction will know this and will have planned accordingly.

  7. They can request that they play away for the first couple of weeks if there is a likely delay for completion of the stadium, I can't see it being a problem at all.

The UWE website shows an 18 month build time which already takes them to the end of September without further delays. I am aware this may be approximate but this will imply the first 10+ games will be away - I cannot imagine the FA/league will allow that as it will result in a disproportionate amount of home games in the run in and therefore they may be perceived to have an unfair advantage. Obviously if there are rules which say this is possible I stand to be corrected.
