  1. What a dire half of football that was, very scrappy. Hope for better fare second half with City attacking the away fans.
  2. Does this set of results mean Cotts will be telling us we're left with an 8 game season?
  3. Clough can't motivate his players. Against PL opponents they play brilliantly as these are the games that all League One players would be "up for" regardless of input from their manager. But when it comes to run of the mill League One games they are often found lacking. That to me says Clough can't motivate his players and hasn't brought in enough "leaders" to do it for him.
  4. I actually laughed out loud when he seriously suggested getting a proven goalscorer in from the Championship! Maybe Brighton will loan them Sammy?
  5. Looking around the internet we seem to be quite a grounded lot and the Notts County fans for example were questioning why our fans were predicting a possible defeat last weekend when we have what they feel is the strongest squad in the division. I quite like that we aren't overly arrogant but I cannot see past a comfortable home win today by 2 clear goals.
  6. Unlikely considering he's a big City fan and formerly prolific poster on here (Godzilla). I've put the point to him anyway
  7. I think they were due to have a bout of <insert random illness here> on Saturday so the switch to Friday may actually benefit them.
  8. What they really need is 20,000 superfans who will lap it up when they take the piss out of them. Shame that many don't exist. Of course the official attendance will still be 5 figures as STHs will all be included but in reality I expect the crowd to be sub 10k now.
  9. I haven't read all this thread but does anyone else see this as UKIP auditioning/trying to position themselves to become the Tories next coalition partner?
  10. Hopefully he can better that and we can welcome PL football as the AG revamp is completed
  11. This feels a bit like Johnson's 1st season. Slight uplift upon SC's arrival, followed by dire performances sending us back to the bottom, then a strong finish & ultimately leaving it too late for a playoff spot. Let's hope next season follows Johnson's 2nd.
  12. "I'll pick them up tomorrow, the staff will pick them up tomorrow & then they'll go and make the same mistakes again on Saturday" How can he manage these players anymore with a statement like that?
  13. It's got to be 343 with Osborne reprising the right midfield role that saw him injure himself scoring at Griffin Park?

    Baldock Today

Regardless of how easy the chances are in your mind though Nogbad, do you seriously expect Baldock to have 26 league goals at this stage of the season? That is Messi or Ronaldo territory. I agree that he should have "some" more as should other strikers in the world (including JET - 1st minute on Saturday anyone?) but good strikers still miss gilt-edged chances, they have done ever since I started following football & they will do long after I turn to dust.

    Baldock Today

Match of the Day is to blame. People have got used to watching highlight packages where the top scorers put away every chance that comes their way. The reality is that even the likes of Suarez and Aguero only have a 25% conversion rate yet people on this thread are arguing with complete sincerity that Baldock should be putting away 40% of his shots (comments about doubling his tally). Only 2 of the top scorers in L1 have a better goalscoring ratio than Sam yet he is being described as an average L1 striker. Do people even know what average means? In terms of goal ratio if Sam was average then L1 only contains 3 or 4 strikers. In terms of goals scored if Sam was average then L1 must only contain 13 or 14 strikers. There's probably around 100 strikers in this division that will be used at some point, Sam is distinctly above average. Yes he will miss some real howlers but so does every striker in the world, we just don't see them miss them every game as we are not there or watching their game live on tv.

    Baldock Today

Unfortunately the O/S appears to only count shots on target of which Baldock has had 38. His main problem seems to be hitting the ball straight to the keeper when one-on-one but it's likely he has missed as many shots off target as he has hit shots on target. That would give a figure of 76 shots which is roughly a goal every 5 shots. Today he bettered this with 2 in 5, which people are claiming isn't good enough. Maybe he should try and score with 3 in every 5 shots? This would have him on 42 goals before the end of January. Remember Andy Cole used to be criticised for only scoring 1 in 7 chances. Around 1 in 5 is the normal rate for a decent striker at whatever level you are playing. Anything better than that is exceptional.
  17. Says on North Stand Chat that the fee is an "undisclosed 5 figure sum". That's significantly less than I'd have expected to pay for a pretty decent centre back from a Championship club. Was also refreshing to go to another club's forum and find virtually everyone calling us either "City" or "Bristol City".
