  1. Gregor on Twitter, quoting SL: On looking for new investment: "I'm not going to bring any person in but we are looking... I would [sell the club] if it was the right deal. But I'm not looking to sell the club, if you put it that way, I'm looking for people to come in and invest." So, not selling up?!
  2. I've got a feeling we'll have a strong start to the season, everyone will get their hopes up and for varied legitimate reasons we'll tail off over the winter. So initially it'll be all NP is a genius, followed by NP must go.
  3. Well typically there would be an immediate wage increase, but as per discussion above the terms on the table could be less or the same as current. Maybe we offered him a lucrative goal bonus ?
  4. By all accounts we've treated him well but many other clubs could do the same. It's a shame we can't get him on a contract with a relatively low release clause just to ensure we get a fee for him.
  5. A lot of players these days are running down their contracts to increase their options when the term ends, but it sounded to me like he risks getting fewer minutes on the pitch this season by not committing, albeit we will absolutely use him. People say shirt numbers aren't important but just look at Scott getting 7, Conway something like 15, but Massengo getting bumped to a higher number.
  6. Sounds like it. The broader point he was making was about player(s) still at the club.
  7. "If you've got players that in an ideal world you'd like to move on, but can't, then you've got to get the best out of them.... Or at least ensure they don't become a nuisance around the place... I never begrudge what players earn..." Who is this referring to? ?
  8. I fully support Nige but if we finished bottom 6, without being able to blame a pandemic of unfortunate injuries then I'd be pretty concerned.
  9. Pring not in contention for LWB? How injured is he?
  10. I once read the Garrincha biog by Ruy Castro and really enjoyed it. I'd never heard of him at the time but what a guy.
  11. So what you're saying is, it's the most exciting side we've had since Cotts?! ??
  12. Big Nige bringing back the sweeper system. Mouth-watering stuff.
  13. Sorry, was about to reply. I didn't get in (then I had to do some actual work) but thanks for being a proper legend and getting that to me. Might work for someone else. COYR
  14. Much appreciated but you can share it with @London expats
  15. I'll take a code if any still going. Isn't great to be geared up for the thrills and spills of a new season. Overly optimistic again? Yeah...
  16. I say keep him til January. There will be a team with budget desperate to improve their attack by then and we get to benefit from a few months of Antoine carnage.
  17. I think we need to accept that it might take him time to adjust to the Championship. I've seen him up close twice (hugging the touchline as he does), and he seems to want to get on the ball as often as he can which is good to see. He's young so will grown into the role.
  18. I don't disagree with you, but to answer your question I guess the scenario would be that Semenyo is sold, NP isn't given any money to spend (FFP) so he has to make do with what's left in the squad. He doesn't feel Bell or Conway are ready to play up top with Martin and we also have the issue of Scott reluctantly playing wing-back. So you solve both problems by shifting Weimann to give you a proper forward line and use Scott in his preferred position behind the front 2.
  19. So if Semenyo was bought for say £20m and we need to bank a chunk of that to balance the books, is there anyone in the lower leagues we can nab for £5m as a replacement a la the Brentford model? Or would NP choose, or be forced, to put his faith in Conway, Bell or even Edwards to step up and fill a front 3 role and could they meet the challenge. Or is Scott ready for the in behind role, allowing Weimann to take the Semenyo role?
  20. What to do with Baker, Wells and Palmer...?
  21. Sorry to be contrary but I disagree with most of this post. He joined us of his own free will and probably had other options. He/his agent were well aware of what expectations and plans we had for him and we on the forum have no idea what those conversations were. Right from the start Wells looked like he was lacking in quality and other than a few (not many) goals, he never looked like the lethal finisher we expected. No manager in their right mind would play Wells out of position, or even bench him, if they thought he had the talent. But three managers in succession found him to be lacking. I've got nothing against him, but I really don't think he was good enough for us and it goes down as poor recruitment in my very humble opinion.
  22. I thought he had a very wobbly first couple of minutes then looked comfortable.
