  1. Does anyone know the xG for yesterday? I would have thought that it was notably higher than 1?
  2. (Understrength) Blackpool were one of the weaker teams we will face and we didn't convert dominance into points. I think the 'where will the goals come from?' question remains unanswered. That was a reasonable performance but it needs to improve as time goes by. We definitely can't afford for performances to decline.
  3. Good half with a general dominance. It did feel like we're lacking a goalscoring striker, but then a striker scored! Palmer and Weimann have shown both the good and bad of their play. Scott has had a very encouraging game so far.
  4. I see that HMHB are playing Frome this year. Not an easy place to watch a gig for anyone other than the inhabitants of Frome! Got fam in Sheffield so might try to see them there in Feb 22

    Runners!

Yeah all good. My suggested routes would be... Set off from the Atyeo statue, through the concourse, follow the path round the park, cross over the railway bridge, Pump house, stay harbourside, round Queens Square, then up to BTM and back along the river - that's probably 10k ish? Or if you don't mind hills you can do the cricket club entrance to Ashton Court, uphill, staying right. Fantastic views, and deer, then over the bridge and down through Hotwells. But, I genuinely would run any route.

If I can do the date and time I'm well up for it, but may I suggest we identify a beer garden to finish...? Regards route, I would suggest either round the harbourside or up and across the suspension bridge.

Stage 3, near Cheltenham. I'm doing it with the running club. I did a recce and there are great trails and views but a couple of climbs are long and horrendous, like a trail version of the beast near you. Kicks off tomorrow morning. Maybe OTIB Runners could do a relay someday...

Anyone doing the Cotswold Way relay this weekend? I will take no reply as a no ?
  9. And neither have fought since then - Feb 2020. Thinking about it, it's better to shake off the cobwebs against Wilder, then be fighting fit for Joshua than the other way round! The first Wilder fight went the distance so I hope Fury is fit enough for a long fight.
  10. Should we be worried that Fury has put a bit of blubber back on? He was in a really good fitness routine and had stated that it was helping his mental illness. That lasted a good year but he has been talking about getting on the beers again and looked to be carrying a chunk when he got his bod out in the press conference. Wilder will be enough of a threat that Fury needs to be focussed and not cut corners. I hope he's got his eye on the prize.
  11. Have you tried all the IPA/APA etc? My concern with this extraction brewing was that you lose the hoppy flavour in the process. Do their beers still pack a punch (subject to following the process)?
  12. Massengo was robbed!
  13. It would be amusing to hear you at Ashton Gate shouting abuse at the ref in a Radio 4 news voice. Jason Williamson was interviewed on the Adam Buxton podcast and he didn't sound like a feral ne'er-do-well, but who cares? I think both bands are far more authentic in their social portraits than 99% of music out there, and it's typical OTIB to get bogged down in this petty criticism.
  14. That's cool. Jason Williamson really impressed me when I saw them. It's basically a one man show; he's up at the front of the stage on his own, not just carrying the whole performance with his vocals but effectively acting out characters as well, like some sort of lo-fi grime-punk cabaret with a load of c-bombs. There's plenty of room in this world for both Idles and Sleafords and the mild friction between them was a bit childish really.
  15. They must take on a lot of fluids
  16. Couldn't care less if they were working class, lower middle, upper middle or whatever. There's plenty of shit working class bands out there with meaningless lyrics and no social awareness.
  17. Yeah I recommended them to someone and they responded that it was very punky which I think they meant as a negative. If you give them a proper listen though it's definitely not punk. There are catchy riffs in there and the sound fluctuates from indie to post-punk to grunge.
  18. I enjoyed it. My only reservation was when hearing about the band setting a 5 year plan with their record company, with number one album on the list. My naive rock n roll romanticism would have counterculture bands like Idles balk at setting career milestones, but having heard about the long road to their debut album, and the escape from working bars, even a foolish idealist can completely understand the value of 'making it'. Plus, Danny Nedelko is hardly a pop song. They sound like they're in a good place now. Hopefully they'll retain their edge and energy and keep touring.
  19. I was supposed to be seeing then in May but pushed back to January now... ?
  20. Possibly my best year. Did you have a ticket last year? I didn't, and dread having to watch on TV...
  21. Ah mate! I saw the holy trinity of Idles, Sleaford Mods and [Liam] Fontaines DC that year. Loved it. Was a great Glastonbury all round though mind.
