  1. Great servant, great pro. Recent appearances suggest his talents are on the wane, so it’s probably a good time to sell. I wish him all the best, but we must get a decent striker in now there’s a room in the wage budget.
  2. New manager bounce is all about turning woeful results into positive ones. We weren’t having woeful results under Pearson; we’d lost a few games by the odd goal with most of a small squad out injured. Totally agree it’s not Manning’s fault and the board is 100% to blame.
  3. I said at the time and will say again, Tinnion and the Lansdowns are the problem; not the latest manager. In short, nothing will change until they go.

My feeling is the board moved the goal posts in the summer in terms of the budget available for Nige post-Scott sale, and have loosened the purse strings for Manning.
  5. Thanks. I was 10 back then and on my first away trip. Great night.
  6. Not sure about that. We took around 10k to Anfield nearly 30 years ago. And how many did we have at the Etihad a few years ago? We had both tiers that night, so must’ve been around 8k at a guess?

    Joe Williams

Outstanding assist for the goal. I love a drilled, accurate pass like that.
  8. He took his goal like a PL striker today. Great first touch; precise finish. That’s what the PL clubs pay the money for.
  9. No magic formula, but I think it’s accurate to say Harry recommended Twine to the club when he left Swindon and was on a free. That was ignored and now Tinnion might be willing to spend millions to get him?
  10. My first pair were Mizunos and I bloody loved them. Suited my feet better than the Predators.
  11. And that will be a hell of a signing for them. I’d pick Benson over Twine if we had a choice. The time to have got Twine was went he left Swindon. It would be classic City to overpay for him now when he has little scope for development.

    TGH

TGH is the midfielder with the best technique in the squad currently, capable of taking decent set pieces and happy to shoot from outside the box. At 22, he should have growth in him too. That said, I don’t see the rush to sign him now if everything is already agreed to make it a perm in June. Assess it then and see where we are IMO, but give him opportunities in centre mid until that time (unless we sign better this month).
  13. Watford away under Holden was about as low as it gets in modern times
  14. Totally agree; by “sides” I wasn’t solely referring to Millwall today - and thought that was pretty clear to be fair
  15. True. It’s like stepping back in time to the Holden era, rather than any bright new dawn. Zero quality (and no tactical nous today) to break down sides that sit in against us.
  16. And didn’t get a single one of them on target. Birmingham was dross, this is more of the same. Least the Gas are 3-0 down.
  17. This is rubbish, again. Millwall much better after the break, but one shot on target from 170 minutes (and counting) shows that we caught Watford on an off day IMO.
  18. Not sure they “did a job on us” when we didn’t have a single shot on target. Possession doesn’t win games; what you do with it does.
  19. Positive performance and an even better result today. No doubting that. But it’s still very early days for Manning and while the recent results have been positive, he will be judged on a wider set of results than today. One thing’s for sure, the squad is an honest, hardworking one and they deserve a bit of luck.
  20. Benny blooded him RB a handful of times and I certainly don’t recall him “bombing up and the right”. He was a pensive RB often looking to cut back onto his left, but he was a LB, LWB, LM by trade. That’s what earned him his move to Forest.
  21. Nail on the head. For Steve, he’s had more than a quarter of a century involved with the club and appears to have learnt nothing. In fact, he’s become more insular since moving to Guernsey and surrounding himself with people who won’t challenge him. That sort of culture will never achieve success. I always remember Danny Wilson being asked “if you had £1m to spend, how would you spend it?” His response was “a new training ground”. That was in 2002, so why did it take 19 years for that to come to fruition? Crazy IMO and the irony is there’s little about it that’s high performance. I’d add statements like “it’s my club and I’ll do what I want” and “judge me on Tinnion”, plus a series of woeful managerial decisions starting with the influence in appointing Pulis when Moyes was flying in from a family holiday in Florida to take the job. That extended to Fawthrop, Tinnion, Coppell, Millen, McInnes, LJ (IMO) and Holden. The nepotism, the arrogance, the lack of accountability, the cock up with the kit supplier and the robin splat. Buying the bullshit of Ashton and LJ, allowing costs to spiral out of control. The lack of communication and treating supporters with contempt. The constant talk of PL or being the new FCB! Delusional. I come back to my original point: SL has been involved with BCFC for 26 years now and what have we got to show for it? A training ground and revamped gate, both of which should’ve been done years ago, and a loss-making club that doesn’t own its ground. All I want for Christmas, is the Lansdowns out!

    Vyner

I’ve been one of his critics over the years, but he’s another late developer and the fact is we’re stronger at the back and a better side when he’s in it. Fair play to him.
  23. We didn’t get a nailed on pen up there that night, or a gift from their keeper. Just saying, like, but I’ll take it
  24. And yet back in August, we dominated them under Nige at their place. Oh how times change.
