Current form is terrific.  4 league games now without scoring a goal.  Thats a full 6 hours of fruitless football or 720 whole minutes.  Two 0-0 draws and two 1-0 defeats. Gaschat is in a state of misery.

Surely time for the old Billy Connolly, Partick Thistle joke...

I hear the Al Qadi family are planning to change Bristol Rovers' name, the club will be known as "Bristol Rovers Nil".

    I thank you

  2. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...really not a good day for BRFC even by their own low standards, maybe they were attempting to bury bad news with more bad news!

Application to turn barns into residential use at The Colony has been refused by SGC. No ecological surveys were submitted. Now I'm no expert in planning but Ecological surveys are a pretty basic requirement.

  3. So, whisper it quietly, do we think they might sneak play-off place? I think the top 5 is out of reach but that last play off place is very much up for grabs.

Plymouth could be the heroes who stop them, they've come from about 10pts down and bottom place and still have the Gas at home to come I think.

Whatever you think about them, it would be some achievement by Clarke given the background he's working against and he's had F all support from the rest of the clowns in charge.

I would like to know how they have spent £12m  SINCE the take over. If they count Dwayne Sports purchase of the train ground, could they include anything that the family has bought in the time since the takeover? They may as well as the club wouldn't own that either.

This is what swissgas posted (and to be honest he seems to have far more clue what's going on than Hamer.)

    Quote

As far as I can see, in rounded terms, the £12 million has been spent to pay off the former directors loans  (£4.5 million) pay off the MSP Capital loan (£2.7 million) pay part of the 2016 losses ( £1 million) pay for the subsequent 17 months trading losses (£2.8 million) and make a loan to Dwane Colony to buy the training ground land (£1 million)

It looks as though we are losing £2 million per year so the loan owing to Dwane Sports will increase by that amount every year until Hani decides the marathon is over.

So the man with the money wants to protect his "investment" by putting a charge on the ground. However that "investment" is currently losing about £2 million a year apparently This is not going to end well is it.

  5. I liked the way that twice when talking about the 'training ground' being ready, he said "Septem...umm...July 2019". So there's a 3 month delay already!

That state of the art 'Training Complex' has very quickly become 1 full size pitch and 3 smaller ones with no mention of any other facilities at all. That visit to see Fleetwood's facilities must have been very enlightening:-

"This is fantastic, just what we want, so how much did it cost?"

    "8 Million quid"

"Bugger that for a game of soldiers"

It should also be asked that, given it's now just 4 pitches, why the hell is the planning permission still dragging on and on?

I'm certainly intrigued by all of this discussion revolving around potential administration for Rovers, but isn't it all hearsay? People speak about this £10m loan taken against the Mem as if it's common knowledge, but could it not just be an overblown rumour?

Nope it's from the accounts lodged with Companies House for the football club and / or Dwayne Sports. All freely and publicly available from Companies House. Most of the other stuff is informed guesswork but the Charge against the stadium is there in black & white.

Should have bought the Forest Green version, a far better bet.

I'm not sure Mr Al Qadi could even afford to buy Dale Vince out. A couple of years ago Ecotricity was valued at about £80 million.

and while the Gas are getting excited about the possibility of a Bristol league derby next season in the league, it's still quite possible that the FGR v Bristol Rovers derby could return.

  8. The Chairman has also done a Cardiff this season and imposed a kit change with no consultation with the supporters. So instead of the Black and White stripes worn for about 100 years, FGR now play in a home kit of 'Ecotricity Green'. This obviously hasn't proved hugely popular with supporters and might explain why last two home gates were only 760 and 940 despite the great start to the season.

Would be very funny if FGR swapped places with Bristol Rovers.
