  1. Well, this has rattled some cages!! All I would say is that the most important (by far) element of the football club to me - is - the football team. That's who I cheer for, cry for and support through thick and thin. With that and only that in mind, the team look no closer to reaching the top flight than when SL took over. Many players, a fair number of managers and many years on from the (single), very clearly stated personal mission, to get Bristol City into the top flight of English football.I I can sympathise with anyone who feels a bit let down.

  3. Ah, would that it were Mr Rich. Would that it were......
  4. If there were to be such a change, I wouldn't be surprised if new owners were American, purely because the "sports portfolio" package is very popular there. Whatever any change in ownership, I'm more concerned about the current financial model imposed by the EFL. The opportunity to "buy" a football club into the top flight - popular around the time that SL took ownership - has long since passed, and where spending power is now allied towards factors such as club turnover (rather than simply the spending power of the owner), it makes the challenge of building success on the field more difficult for clubs like ours.
  5. At face value, looks like a good piece of business by the club - especially given that there are options further down the line. Welcome Taylor - and PLEASE - stay fit!!
  6. Apologies Ajax, to clarify, I was referring to both the football club and the SL portfolio - thus the placement of the comma in the offending sentence.
  7. Yes indeed. I go back to a point I've made several times previously, that he could have followed the trend set by other clubs who suddenly acquired an extremely wealthy owner/supporter, but chose not to at that time. His prerogative of course, but I'd venture a surprise to many, both with a vested interest in BCFC and in the wider world of football discourse. Granted, his investment in the club has seen a massive development in infrastructure, aside from the expansion of his sporting portfolio. But I'm willing to bet that if I were to sit down for a chat and a pint with a Luton fan for example, it wouldn't go very far towards wiping the smile off of his/her face. As Pink Floyd once wryly suggested, we may well have sold our heroes for ghosts.
  8. It's very difficult to judge the competence of a goalkeeper if he's not put under pressure. As for the exchanges with the fans, well it's give and take isn't it?
  9. Although the squad does obviously need strengthening if we are to progress further, I wouldn't be surprised if only one or two signings are made. I could never have imagined that after all these years of SL's tenure, BCFC would have come to little more than a feeder club for AFC Bournemouth. Tens of millions of pounds garnered from selling our best talent on, a rugby club and basketball team gained. Whatever happened to the idea of BCFC in the top flight of English football??
  10. Some over reactions, as per usual on here. However, do we look like scoring twice? Not on that showing I'm afraid.
  11. Shocked to hear of his death. Great footballer, seemed like a nice guy as well. RIP Trevor.
  12. Ah, "The Golden Age of Wireless". I couldn't manage without the wireless. Love it. And for those who know, it's a great album too!
  13. Loved Eddie Shoestring. Don't care for Reading. Next.
  14. Absolutely my fave City shirts ever!!
  15. Solid top half of the table finish would be good. Chances of finishing in play-off places - pretty unlikely I'd say. Automatic promotion - get out of here!! It's a very competitive division next season and we still have some way to go before we're ready to be strong contenders for promotion. That said, we are on an upward trajectory and I remain confident that further improvements will be made. The Championship is going to be something of a thriller in 23/24 I think.
