  1. Think Albert was a done deal before Coppell took over. Cisse was ok, the rest disastrous.
  2. The guy who joined at the same time as Keohane was called Pat Hoban. Pretty sure it was under Coppell who had a track record at Reading of Irish signings. Unfortunately in keeping with nearly every signing he made with us, they weren’t any good.
  3. Totally. The combination of obvious intelligence, his wide variety of (non football) interests, his standing within the game & how he’s obviously bought into this part of the world is unprecedented in our managerial appointments.
  4. This is just one of those suggestion articles without any basis in fact that we are actually looking at him. He’s out of contract this summer & if Derby failed to go up through the playoffs might be a possibility, but then so could half a dozen others. Whether Scott goes or stays (or is sold & we loan him back) we’ll need another centre mid player to replace Massengo this summer.
  5. I know @Harry isn’t being serious but a few of us were saying how good would we be now with Semenyo instead of Bell in yesterday’s line up. That’s not a criticism of Sam by the way but having someone with Antoine’s strength & pace would be lethal. FWIW I hope that Wells gets a run of starts, I don’t think it’s exactly the formation he would want to play in, but he’s a finisher & his link up play is decent enough. Cornick presumably wasn’t signed to always be a sub & Conway will probably be the next one back, so certainly a fair few options.
  6. Seeing as yesterday was his first start in virtually a year & we all know he’s on our highest wages, it is understandable that the club won’t rush to offer him one. He has to stay fit for the remaining games first, be receptive to what would be a huge reduction even if we do offer him something, as well. Doubt anything will happen until the season ends, but Pearson will probably decide around April, I guess.
  7. As usual we agree. Would say though what technique he has, the ball sticks to him even when the pass he receives is a bit “off” & he has given us an “out” ball that we wouldn’t otherwise have had with Semenyo gone. He’s good.
  8. Two more wins for certain, I think. We have a relentless schedule next month & will be relying basically on the same 15 players, so will probably lose one of the games coming up (cue meltdown from some on here) but Blackpool look certs now & we have enough to secure those points before too long.
  9. It’s hypothetical because there is virtually no chance of Atkinson being fit for the start of next season anyway. Based on recent form Vyner might not be here in August, if we don’t offer him a new contract soon I expect Inter Milan will be after him the way he’s played recently..
  10. I had completely forgotten how high he gets up for a relatively short CB. Covered once superbly by Sykes but for a bloke who hadn’t played 90 minutes in 11 months he did a brilliant job today.
  11. Plus there was a nailed on handball in the box by them earlier in the game.
  12. Pearson knows what he’s doing… No passengers now. Great, isn’t it?
  13. Exactly so. A year ago he was on the bench for a couple of games if I recall correctly but seems to have fallen down the pecking order with the emergence of Taylor-Clarke (who seems to have got in front of Kadji too), I definitely expect him to be released this summer & so National League is a great shop window for him. Great move for Seb but also a very tough gig, Yeovil struggle to score & he’s going in to a struggling side at 18 years of age being asked to score the goals to hopefully keep them up. Whatever happens it will be a massive experience for him in terms of his own development.
  14. But was it really as good as we thought at the time? Which on reflection sounds like a song lyric. There’s always that nagging feeling of “it never rained when you played football before school” isn’t there? For instance Thatcher was still in power (just) then & I bloody lived in Kingswood..
  15. Definite 89/90 Bountyhunter vibes in this shirt. Expecting to suddenly see @Bristol Oil Services in a bucket hat before those Welsh fans stole his sartorial style, @Merrick's Marvels & me still with hair & @77 punk exhibiting the sort of “enthusiasm” that seemed to have disappeared from him since Gary Johnson left..
  16. Like all that side that got to the top flight (& I could name them off by heart), he was a bloody good player. However he was already reaching the veteran stage by the time we went up & as has been said, Sir Geoffrey switched across to LB to accommodate Norman Hunter & he dropped out. Lovely to see he’s stayed fit, active in this part of the world for all these years, his son had a decent career too.
  17. This is just my opinion of course but it’s ******* horrible, the worst one in many years. I genuinely don’t care what we wore on the 50s, I have been watching us over 50 years & our shirt is always red, not bloody Arsenal or Rotherham. I hate it.
  18. Absolutely so. We got generic cast offs from those companies & good as it was to have a “name” supplier it was often pretty uninspiring stuff. This looks a half way house decision & hopefully they will see us as their biggest football client, so will be accommodating & respond swiftly to demand.
  19. Immediately thought this. I know they’re predominantly an Irish sport supplier but Wycombe at least shows that they have a foothold in the market. Let’s be honest, I’m not their demographic, but those who want to buy replica kit need to be able to do so throughout the season & simply haven’t been able to.
  20. Absolutely it’s each to their own. I don’t mind it & am also conscious that if our second shirt is white (personally I really like that one) with Stoke, Sheff U etc in the division the choice of the third is a bit more important, we had black & I never took to that, not a fan of green & it isn’t going to be blue, then it needs to be distinctive. Aside from that truly awful centenary shirt I’ve not disliked any home shirt as much as this season’s, it hasn’t grown on me at all, still looks like Arsenal or Rotherham. I’ll be very happy if it goes after a year.
  21. He’s a disgrace & as this shows, a liar. I have no idea if he is actually scared of Barton or simply a sycophant but he’s comfortably the most biased reporter I can ever remember cover either Bristol team.
  22. Summed up my thoughts perfectly, RIP.
