Not seen it mentioned anywhere but the under 21s played at Birmingham today & lost 3-0. The side included Wiles-Richards, Leeson, Araoye, Knight-Lebel, Idehen, Wood, Taylor-Clarke, Francois & Sam Pearson. Fairly obvious but with Palmer-Houlden on loan at Newport (another assist at the weekend) they do look very short of forwards.

Kalas - Signed for Schalke04

Doubtful. Think we were already aware that Kalas wasn’t re-signing when we brought the West Brom lad in & the Irish kid would be on first year pro terms so he won’t making much difference to what we’re spending. -

Not sure about that. Was allowed to bring in Alfie May who was prolific at Cheltenham & Edun who was a decent Blackburn squad player & Terry Taylor who a number of sides were after at Burton. I just don’t think he’s a very good manager. -

By League One standards Charlton are a decent sized club, he appeared to have turned them around last season but although still early days, results have been awful this season. I’m sure he’s a great bloke but I’ll never understand how on earth he ended up managing us. A shambolic decision that tells you all you need to know about how much Steve Lansdown & his son know about football & that they allowed Ashton a free hand.- 31 replies

I presume West Brom are relatively high payers for our level, certainly more than we now do. Other issue here I guess is they were in a poor negotiating position as everyone knows they are in a mess financially. No idea of the figures but could see something like him being on £15k a week & we’re now paying £10k of it.

Norwich City at home Carabao Cup match thread

Shame Gardiner-Hickman is cup tied & obvious Weimann will be missing but Dickie is back & I expect Roberts, Mehmeti, Cornick & possibly King to all come in as we rotate a few. -

He didn’t - but I guess that’s because it sort of dragged on with no one outside the club knowing what was really happening. We are interested because we’re supporters but from a club perspective (& Tomas, because he hasn’t said anything either) they have already moved on. -

Presumably because his contract expired nearly two months ago. -
Plymouth’s owner is from….Plymouth. Beyond that apart from the Villa bit (they are miles bigger than us) I totally agree, I used to be really proud that our owner was local, but I no longer care. He changes the club that we should emulate (apparently it is Luton at present) about as often as most of us change our socks & his son doesn’t seem to care or have the first idea as to how to be a chairman. If we sell up to a foreign owner then as long as the money has been made legally (which almost certainly means to an American), I’d welcome it now. The investment in the infrastructure has been great but his track record on managers is truly dismal & it is incredible how little he still understands about the football industry after all these years.

Depends on what you can get elsewhere. We’ll never know the figures exactly but if our offer was circa £10k a week (not unlikely) & Schalke have offered him 2 years (which they definitely have) on £12k a week then you can understand him. If Schalke have gone above that figure then anyone with any sense would snap their hands off. -
The point made there about them being shit at strategy is spot on. There are now more Green Councillors in Bristol than Labour ones, once the current Mayoral system ends in May so does the Rees’ veto which has stopped significant decisions (like the infamous Arena one) being made by a majority vote. There are “all in” (every ward) elections for all Councillors at the very same time, May ‘24. Anyone who looks at this stuff in detail & thinks the Greens won’t be the biggest party in Bristol after that date is in a very small minority. Basically therefore they are banking on a couple of major Labour Party figures who are also Rovers ST holders to see them right, but as has already been pointed out these people won’t be in post in less than 9 months time now.

The save from Twine’s free kick was his best for me. Thought Connolly messed up the one on one (though well done to Max for making himself tall) & the one from close range sort of hit him. Good game & whilst I am still concerned by the lack of a senior alternative, that’s not his fault so let’s hope he turns in plenty more performances like Friday.

SV Hamburg regularly have 50,000, too. Germany is really the only country in Europe apart from England where aside from an occasional outlier (like Bordeaux) you get consistent huge attendances outside of the top flight. Just had a look at the sides in it this season, apart from Hamburg & Schalke there’s the likes of Hertha Berlin, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Kaiserslautern, Hansa Rostock, St. Pauli & Hannover. It’s a pretty decent league. -

I expect their better paid players live somewhere nice. Not an expert on that part of Germany but there will be somewhere. -

Just been confirmed by Sky Germany, he’s signed a two year deal & will wear number 26. -
You can really see someone coming in with a big bid this week for that Collins, he’s only 3 behind Joe Low in the scoring charts.

Wolves in injury time, joke decision.

Anfield maybe, that’s about it.

Yep because they’re Brazil 1970 themselves, aren’t they?
-
I make it 7 wins in his last 31. His last 12 league games he’s won 1, drawn 4 & lost 7.
-
I can really see this being their year. Wasn’t that being posted on here recently? Today’s back four was Hunt (32), Wilson (34) Friend (36 soon) & a Brentford loan player (of course). Absolute shambles of a club, top two in that league at present are Exeter & Oxford for **** sake. This is a standard in which Martyn Waghorn has 5 goals in his last 3 games (1 of those as a sub).

Really? I’m amazed. When I saw Forest were 2 up after 4 minutes I thought the chances of them ending the game with 11 men & Man U not getting a penalty were about 1 in 20.

In a three sided ground with less than 8000 there it should presumably be fairly easy to identify who did it. What a ******* tinpot outfit they are, Dad’s Army defence, plus a bunch of loan players & a jailbird manager.
