We did, but I don't recall following it up the next season with the same.

Ah, didn't realise that there was a "one season" rule.

Not sure what the issue is here.  The majority of teams in League One have 3 or 4 players in on loan, a few teams have 5 loanees, Ipswich only have 1.  Rovers have 3 on loan, so are no different to their peers.

He didn’t say minute, I remember clearly as I thought they normally say minute. It was literally a moment as everyone started clapping and cheering. Sorry for any misunderstanding

The first time I heard they say "moment" instead of "minute" was the match involving Liverpool, following the death of the Queen.  There could then be no criticism if they did not maintain silence for the whole minute.

Wouldn't have thought that "moment" would need to be used at AG.  Seems quite a few teams did the applause by mistake, it's still done as a mark of respect and appreciation for those who did not return, that's the important thing.

Every Gashead I know would love to play us in the cup. Why, because they haven't played us in the league for 22 years now.

There is absolutely no upside to playing them in the cup for us. They would treat it as their cup final, whereas we would collectively just be paranoid about losing to them, and further fuelling their "We're coming to get you" mantra nonsense.

Can you imagine the utter s### that we would have to listen to coming from Barton in the run up to the game. Followed no doubt by a pumped up Rovers team probably taking out every City player going, to prove to their manager that they were "Up for it". It would be Ian Alexander x 11 out there, complete carnage. Not to mention, a nightmare situation outside the ground, before, during; and after the game.

When we had to play them in the league, it was of course a necessity to play them twice over the course of a season. I would be very, very careful what we wish for here.

I wouldn't look forward to playing you, due to how silly things had got off the pitch the last few times we played.  Likely to be even worse next time, as the police tactics seem to be to stand back and film, then use this evidence to make arrests at a later date.  A shame, as the atmosphere inside the ground is usually cracking, but had enough of the shenanigins outside.

Good luck is all I can say , it's an absolute nightmare these days getting from Trowbridge across Bath and through South Bristol to AG at times

Come out of Trowbridge via Farleigh Hungerford, Hinton Charterhouse, Midford, down Pennyquick hill to the Globe roundabout.  Cut up through Keynsham, then via Whitchurch to Hartcliffe Way.  Turn left just before the Three Lions, once you get to the bottom of the hill, start looking for a parking space.

    Do you know what?

Maybe she did? Maybe she even gave a statement?

Maybe that fact precipitated Hill’s departure? I have no idea whether Hill worked his notice but as was the case recently with Kevin Bond, departures seem to be announced long after the fact in BS7, don’t they?

Once it was ruled that Barton’s wife was going to give an exculpatory account that of course changed everything. No point in calling witnesses when the “victim” has completely changed her story.

But of course all of this is just “speculation” by people who “don’t know”, isn’t it?

Surely if Mrs Hill had given a statement, this would have entered as evidence at one of the earlier hearings?  Everything around the case is speculation, as the only people who know what took place are those who were actually there when it happened.

Wasn’t Clint Hill & wife at said dinner party when the assault took place? Story I was told was that both mr & Mrs Hill were appalled with what they witnessed and Mrs Hill was adamant that he wouldn’t work with Joe Barton.  No idea if correct but that’s what I was told.

I've seen this mentioned many times, although I've never seen any evidence to back it up.  This happened at the Barton's London residence, so, if the Hills were there, presumably they were staying with the Bartons for the weekend - where were they when the police turned up?.  I find it strange that if Mrs Hill felt so strongly, they did not come forward as witnesses for the prosecution.  Also, Hill remained at Rovers for two months after the incident, surely you'd walk out straight away if you were a witness to what happened, and felt very strongly about it?

I am sure those of us that not only post but also read this thread take great strength from the open and honest posts that are shared

I am looking for some assistance please, each month on a zoom call we take it in turns to host a 60 minute section where we have different discussions, I am scheduled to host the call in December.

I was wondering if anyone has any links to any sites or even a short video that discusses being alone at Christmas and supporting those who need help?

I have had a look at the webinars that I have been on this year but they are not really what I am looking for

I would be VERY grateful for any assistance

I haven't got any links, however, I did experience being on my own last Christmas.

My way of dealing with it was to pretend that it was just an ordinary day. I slobbed around in my PJ's, ate normal food (cheese and onion roll for lunch!), watched TV programmes on streaming sites so that I didn't see any of "Christmas Specials", didn't open any of the presents my family had given me.  I found it was an enormous relief not to have the pressure of being "ho ho ho" all day, and to do exactly as I pleased - I felt really relaxed and refreshed on Boxing Day, and enjoyed opening my presents then.

I will confess that my one nod to it being Christmas Day was to eat a lot of chocolate. ?

Genuine question for our friendly gas posters on here; it must make you cringe when you see all of these posts from your so called fans just dropping you in it every time. Its not as if its a few juvenile idiots, its actually a broad cross section of your fan base from your North Korean Central toe the line forum or idiots droning on and on about away support like its an appendage to the wind up merchants trying to have a go at Derby County.

I actually feel sorry for the likes of In the Net, Miah & Bert.

I'm not into the attendance obsession, although I have seen posts which I guess must be the result of some people letting their imaginations run away with them!  I think most people can identify the ones which are talking crap.

  9. Sorry to read this, and I hope the person is OK.

the Rovers game was stopped on Wednesday evening when our GK signalled that there was a person in the Sheffield Wednesday end who needed medical attention.  It could be a nightmare trying to get somebody out on a stretcher if there was an incident on the pitch which triggered the crowd. (Yeah, I know, not very likely when Rovers are playing - but you get the drift!)

But its not 1 bloke, your lot spout this shite all the time, i used to work for a company were for some reason 50% of your support worked, anyway they both used to come into the office on a Monday and if the Gash had played away they would nosh each other off about the thousands that had travelled and how much better and bigger your away support was than the s%&t when in fact it was in the low hundreds.

You obviously come into contact with a lot more Rovers supporters than I do!

As the apparant 'smaller' Bristol club ive allways thought rovers have brought more than city over the years

Er, when did they last take 5k to Hillsborough ?

When was the last time we played at Hillsboough, not counting last night!  That poster must be an OAP.

Good comments about your lot for last night - and then low & behold, someone posts about talking to a Rovers fan who exaggerated the tickets sold..!

Why, oh why, do they feel the need...?!

Crazy isn't it!  Home and away attendences are easily available to check these days. ?

He's a season ticket holder, just cant help yourselves can you.....

He's one bloke, obviously not wired right if he's in denial about figures which have been posted by the ticket office on several social media sites.  Haven't seen or heard any other Rovers supporters stating this - him being a season ticket holder doesn't make him a typical example of Rovers fans.  Bit like the bloke who supported your lot, and wrote in his book about City fans targetting police dogs, to injure them - I don't imagine that the majority of you shared his views.

Bloke in work told me 3000 sags were making the trip to Sheffield on a Wednesday night, Imagine my shock when turns out to be 900.

    Perennial liars.

You work with a very strange bloke, number of tickets sold has been on social media, around 700 at the beginning of the week I think.  He obviously doesn't follow Rovers very closely, or he'd be clued up.

This year continues to be shit.

One of my mates died over the weekend unexpectedly. She has an 11 year old kid, no stuff in place to help etc. Was only a few years ago we we're helping her through uni to be a social worker.

Kept my partner and a few others alive this weekend after mental health episodes, them going missing and utter drama and devastation.

    Jesus Christ :(

Jeez, that is a tough weekend, that poor 11 year old girl, so young to lose a parent.  It sounds as though you've helped a few people to keep going, not always easy to do - you're obviously a good person.

For some reason, the black cloud has descended around me - just can't shake it off.

Maybe Barton was a petulant, aggressive, self obsessed bell end at 14?

No wait, he still is at 40!

What a vile human being he is.

I haven't read his book, so don't know exactly what happened when he was 14.  Do you consider what he says in the aricle to be "vile" - that was my question to the OP?

Actually, your description sounds like quite a few 14 year olds I've come across in my time. ?
