  1. That would pretty much double our transfer budget if I have understood our financial situation properly.

I did a quick search on "All lives matter" and it doesn't appear to be a racist slogan in any context. It appears to be a slogan used in criticism of the Black Lives Matter movement - which isn't beyond criticism. It does say that All lives matter is associated with conservative values, I would say once again conservative values aren't even close to being racist. What I increasing see is that it is convenient for some to lump everyone on the right in the racist bucket to try and make them look like an extremist which ultimately means they don't want to be part of the conversation. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Lives_Matter

I think everyone goes through difficult times in there life and has different challenges.
  4. Nige, where do you see the key deficiency in our squad that hold us back from being further up the table? Can you explain a fictional scenario where this deficiency happens and the impact it has on everyone? How do you go about addressing it?
  5. That's a bit like Preston wishing they had Beckham a couple years after he broke into the Man U side. Tammy is way out of our league now.
  6. Have been watching since 91/92 so: Beating Cardiff at Ninian park when Murray did what Murray did. Beating Liverpool at Anfield.
  7. We should all wear a suit and grow our beards for the week to look like Mark Ashton. To see anyone that looked like him around the club would scare me.

From my perspective the bits in bold are true, everything else is your perspective or extrapolation of your perspective. I've never heard anyone that's racist say "all lives matter". Surely if your racist you don't think "all lives matter" you think what ever race you support matters. See what I mean - the language creates confusion and feels to me like it lumps moderate right wing people in with racists and thugs which alienates them from the discussion because they find far right people as obnoxious as moderate lefties and far lefties do.

Maybe I'm a bit far along on the spectrum but is "All lives matter" really a racist term? @richwwtk you say it with such conviction the way I read you saying it but it feels like a bit of a "newspeak" term where I've missed the memo so therefore if I say it then I'm branded racist thus alienating me from the conversation. To me it clearly means what it says even if it's in response to black lives matter - I don't know why it can't be taken at face value, e.g. that all lives do matter? It's this kind of deliberate playing with language and it's meaning that really confuses me and someone just saying that it's different doesn't make it different IMHO. Obviously we all have to agree on language otherwise we're speaking different languages and once again communication breaks down.

Its a bit strange. I assume it's because the Bristol post need page hits and people are still interested in football violence. Would any of us have clicked on it if it was just random bloke who isn't racist talks about protecting the cenotaph? Not that I care for this type of thing but the Gas must hate this type of thing - the article must have said how long we have been bigger than them for about 4 times.
  11. This seems like the only way this "massive club" ever makes national news in the last 20 years.
  12. You could say all teams have got better at an equal rate so we are a lot better just not in comparison to other clubs.
  13. Isn't this a bit of involvement? To be honest I would prefer he talked less so clearly not going to please everyone. He's a figurehead and figureheads shouldn't talk about the team (that the managers job), he shouldn't talk about strategies (that's the CEOs job), he shouldn't talk about ownership (that's his dad's role). That doesn't leave him much to talk about to be honest - check the CEO is doing his job, smile and promote the club to potential investors, make sure daddy turns up with the cheque book when the club needs it, stay out of the day to day running of the club.
  14. Would you prefer he was running up and down the stands giving fans high fives while we sit in the relegation zone in division 1?
  15. Blue - you choose blue. I suppose you couldn't pick a red suit but blue, your supposed to do things to destroy the marriage after the wedding not during it.
  16. Good interview, maybe a bit chummy at times but struck a good balance I think. Sounds like SL previous comments about getting investment was a bit overblown - sounds like it's more about if someone can help them get to the prem then they would be open to it, I assume one idea is that they are thinking along the same line as Wolves and investment from agents maybe.

    Messi

Maybe I'm missing the point but the goal didn't seem that special and he did pretty much nothing for the rest of the game. Don't get me wrong I think Messi is the best player in the world but saying this is special when compared to other things he has done seems a bit hollow to me. There wouldn't be a thread on here if Danny Welbeck had done exactly the same thing.
  18. If it's an original English heritage one then it will be blue. There are others, the majority of which are blue but your right there are green and black ones. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_blue_plaques
  19. Something needs to be done with FBC, the content is usually ok and I find it hilarious listening to Ian. The normal reason given for poor quality is that they do it live but this was a big step down from something that was already poor. Whatever they are using to do it is clearly a poor choice of tools (it sounds like they are doing a zoom call but trying to record the audio out of someone's speaker) and how they are using it is clearly wrong with loads of background noise basic etiquette dictates either a silent background or going on mute.
  20. To clarify I think he allowed for a good game to happen, which isn't always the case. I don't think any ref would have sent that Fulham player off, refs are usually lenient with players that are on a yellow and it seems to have to be clear that a players has lost control for a second yellow. Might not be strictly to the rules but it's pragmatic.

    Massengo

To be fair most of the time it's for the best not being on twitter ?.
  22. I thought the ref did a good job yesterday telling players a few times to get up and get on with it.

https://twitter.com/alidurdenBBC/status/1441761754854330369?s=19 Nigel Pearson on Massengo absence: "He picked up a (hamstring) problem at the end of the game against QPR, so it's a bit of frustration for him. We'll see how that develops and hopefully he won't be too long. I don't think he'll be in there for the games this week."
  24. I don't like doing our players down and I like Vyner but you know in the same situation Vyner would just cede possession and invite the attack hoping the break it down later.
