  1. In fairness, my recollection of that incident was that Watford did actually give it a bloody good go. I think it went on for quite a while, no old bill arrived for a long time, and there were bodies strewn everywhere. City certainly came out on top, but Watford were ‘game’ as they say, on that day.
  2. Yep. I would guess that you and I are amongst a very small number of City fans who have seen us play Charlton at 4 different grounds. Ashton Gate, Selhurst Park, Upton Park & The Valley. I can’t remember there being very many of us at Selhurst and probably only 1,000 or so at Upton Park, so there won’t be many fans who can say they were at all 4 grounds. I always fancied playing Charlton in the playoff final as it would then be 5 different grounds, which I’m sure would be a very unique phenomenon.
  3. There was a few Millwall in there too. I know - as I encountered some of them afterwards!!
  4. Woo-hoo. Now we’re cooking If Twine is on the pitch and either TGH or anyone else goes anywhere near a free kick, I’m going to be immediately leaving the ground in absolute and painful disgust, and not returning until I receive a personal apology from the King.
  5. Forgot about that one. Tomlin was March 2016 I think. So, with Brownhill’s we’re now at 1 in 8 years. Awesome
  6. Come on now Silvio - you can’t use everything as a stick to beat Manning To the main point, our lack of goals from free kicks is something I’ve mentioned many times going back many seasons. This isn’t just a recent (Manning) phenomenon. Pretty sure our last one was Tomlin at Fulham!! But yes, Twine should definitely give us hope in this area.
  7. Agreed. Total chancer. Not sure how he ever got employed at this level (twice!!)

    Super Sunday

He’s always been an ‘orrible git. The surprising this is how many people have been duped by him over the last few years. The mask is finally slipping and his true self is shining through. Horrible arrogant bloke
  9. There was indeed a gesture from McCrorie to Mehmeti (I wouldn’t call it anywhere near a bollocking). I’ve just watched the game back again. It happens on the 20th minute and is about 1:30 prior to McCrorie having that shot that hit the side netting. Mehmeti was playing very narrow. This happened for the whole period he was on the right. I’m quite surprised that you say “possibly it was tactical”. It was very clearly tactical. He spent more time almost next to Wells than he was near the touchline. We very nearly had a couple of openings during the 5 mins leading up to McCories shot. Had Williams had his correct boots on yesterday we’d have had an opportunity for RM in loads of space on about 16 minutes and another when AM nearly got in behind on about 18 mins. There was also the Bell cross on about 15 mins where Mehmeti was on the penalty spot. And also on that McCrorie shot, Mehmeti had just made a run to the penalty spot and this was why RM had the time on the edge of the box to make that shot. It was very clearly tactical that AM was to play about 20 yards infield in the hope that this would allow RM space to drive forward - something which is clearly his strength. I can’t put any single ounce of blame on AM for playing narrow. The gesture from RM on 20 mins was more one of frustration as he wasn’t getting the space to maraud. Anis was 20 yards inside him the whole time. It was clearly a plan. Many people wouldn’t have noticed on about 13 minutes, Chair had rolled his man and was about to unleash a shot from the centre of the edge of the box and Anis had managed to get back and make what was probably a goal saving tackle. This was another advantage of his playing narrower, ie he was able to offer an extra defensive support in central areas. There were a lot of below par performances (well all of them) but Anis was probably the best player of ours (yes, a low bar, but even so). I was surprised he was subbed off actually and we were noticeably a lot worse after he went off.
  10. “Hurry Up Harry” in reference to Cornick attempting to track back. “We’re going down the pub”. The Dolman Stand on 83 minutes. “Just my Imagination”. Jon & Brian thinking we have a top end squad. “Born to Run” Jason Knight “Comfortably Numb” Some of our fans at the thought of Manning Ball

    Twine

Yep. Same Dave. I didn’t see wing backs at all. Back 4 all game. Although I do think the shape did sometimes look a little confusing as Roberts seems to have a tendency to come inside into midfield quite a lot, so he was often in a strange position for what was essentially a full back role.
  12. You just beat me to it
  13. They were supposed to be doing a scene from Snow White, but only Sneezy showed up. Sleepy and Dopey were playing for the City. Grumpy was in the Dolman. Doc was seeing to Sam Bell and Happy was in the away end. Bashful was up in the boardroom reflecting on his embarrassing choice of words about having a top end squad
  14. We’ll have to disagree on this one big guy. I thought he was the only player today who looked like he was giving qpr anything to worry about. If everyone scores a 4 today, he’d at least get a 5.
  15. I agree that I would have also kept Mehmeti on. He was the only one looking remotely like given them something to think about. If he wanted to get Medube on, he’s more comfortable on the right, so could have been worth having both Mehmeti and Medube on each flank - that might have been something slightly different.
  16. He’s shown in half a dozen games that he’s pretty much ok. Not much more than that. And if he keeps doing what he did today then I’ll be making a much bigger deal of it
  17. Harry

    Twine

To be fair I’ve got no problem with the Cornick sub. It was early in the game. Sykes and Twine wouldn’t have been fit enough for that long. And Medube; as we saw, was not ready. No problem at all with the Cornick sub. And no problem him switching flanks either - Cornick is generally better from the right than the left so it was perhaps correct to bring Anis to the left. Bell’s injury did scupper our overall game but yes, I wasn’t sure about all the other subs in the 2nd half, and as said, if Twine was on the bench he should’ve been fit enough to do 20 minutes in the exact situation for which we signed him

    Mbude.

Yep. That’s the all or nothing society we have nowadays. Basically, the kid had a poor game. No getting away from that. But let’s see what he does for the rest of his loan and decide whether we want him or not. Bad game. Move on.
  19. Harry

    Twine

Should have subbed him on for the free kick and then taken him off again. I mean, if he wasn’t fit enough for 10 minutes at the end when the game is crying out for his type; then we might as well have just used him as a Special Teams sub when we got that free kick.
  20. There’s only 3 people in the country who thought we ever had a playoff shout this season : Jon Lansdown, Brian Tinnion and our resident bird vermin from super-mare.
  21. Yep. No one can convince me or give any reasonable rationale as to why Twine didn’t come on. If he’s on the bench he must be fit enough for at least 15-20 mins. And he was signed for this exact situation - needing something different around the box versus a team happy to sit in. We signed him for these exact moments. Baffled I am. As for Gardner-Hickman. I’ve kept my powder dry on him so far but I’ve not as yet been overly impressed with him. Yes, a few decent moments here and there but he’s done nothing to convince me yet. And then today, he enters the fray with us needing to sharpen up, quicken the passes, start to impose ourselves etc and he’s the slowest effing passer out there, taking 3 or 4 touches every time he has the ball and getting easily dispossessed about 6 times. There was one moment he had an acre in midfield, received a pass, took 3 touches to turn, had a chance at a quick ball out to McCrorie in loads of space but proceeded to pass it at about 0.5 miles per hour and it eventually reached a now fully marked McCrorie the following week! Effing quicken it up man!! So damn slow at everything. I still need a lot of convincing on this kid. Sorry.

    South Stand

Yep but I mean the free shirt offer thingy. I always thought that was only the upper Lansdown but apparently not
  23. Harry

    South Stand

I must admit. Until recently I always thought the cheap kids tickets (with free shirt) were only available in the upper Lansdown family stand. Only in the last couple of months I’ve seen comments on here about it being available elsewhere too. Seems a bit baffling to me. I always thought the cheap family tickets were only for the family stand. So I agree with your idea.

    Mbude.

You can say that again !!
  25. Well. At least it’s better than that horrendous monstrosity they came up with for the 125 year anniversary. No surprise that we wore that sickening kit in the last game before covid struck - it was clearly enough to make the whole bloody world sick!!
