  1. Nah. I just got a brand new paved drive too. Much better.
  2. There may well have been a group of Glos fans singing their dirge. But we need to dispel the myth that Glos = Gas. It doesn’t. There’s loads of City who follow Glos. I guess if you meet a Gas cricket fan, he’s most likely to follow Glos. However, if you meet a City cricket fan, it’s probably 50/50 as to whether he’d be Glos or Somerset. I like both and want both to do well. To me it’s a friendly rivalry.
  3. Didn’t happen. I was there with loads of City fans.
  4. As Pops mentions above, the loan is from a company called MSD, and supposedly to the tune of £30m. MSD have previously loaned money to Southampton & Sunderland. The loan has been charged on Companies House to the football club - but surely they can’t inject money to the football club secured against a stadium that the football club do not own. It’s like you lending me money and saying if I don’t pay you back you’ll take my neighbours house (not mine). In essence, if Morris doesn’t pay MSD back their £30m if they ask for it, then they’ll own the ground. Even though the club don’t own the ground any more!! It’s a bloody farce. The fact Derby’s CEO sits on the EFL board is surely a conflict of interest in this matter. I just can’t see how, within FFP rules, this £30m can form part of any calculations, as it’s not ‘football club’ income - it’s technically a loan to Morris himself (as he bought the stadium). There’s got to be some sort of investigation into this.
  5. sorry, can you expand on your reply. Im not sure what context this is being presented in?
  6. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53751251 So. A few weeks ago, Derby received a loan from a 3rd party, which was secured against the stadium. Given this decision, it seems it was a legitimately priced purchase when Morris bought the stadium. So, Derby now don’t own the stadium. So the loan, being secured against the stadium, would surely be a loan to Morris himself (as stadium owner) and not to the club. Thus, this loan money can’t be money directly given to the club, but to Morris. Thus would only be able to be used as part of his own cash injections into the club, not as a source of ‘club’ earnings. Presumably?

Great to be back playing football. 5 months without!! Dang. Gonna feel it tomorrow. Despite all the hundreds of kms clocked since lockdown, it’s such a massively different effort. Strava & Fitbit linked up fine. Although I am still doubting the distance the Fitbit is clocking - had me at 3.3k. Another player clocked 4.2 and I know I did just as much as him. Ah well, it’s registering something, which is what I wanted. So all good. Not looking forward to the stiffness tomorrow morn!!!

Cheers Reg. Yes, I have a similar ‘Russian hooligan’ style cheapo bumbag when running to carry the phone. But I didn’t want to wear it to football (the amount of times I crack one in the nuts is not good, so I know damn well someone will blast one into my bumbag and smash the phone!!) I think I’ve got the solution now. @Silvio Dante has very kindly offered me his Fitbit Ionic, and didn’t want anything for it, aside from a donation to CHSW, to which I’ve this evening donated £30. Very kind of Silvio and much appreciated. I took it for a test this morning. Walked round the village with daughter in buggy, and then when I got home I opened Strava and it linked the walk. So a good test result. Hopefully that should work for football tomorrow night, and I can wear the watch with a sweatband covering it. Only thing was, the walk was about 4.5k but the watch only logged 3.4k. So no matter what the result tomorrow, I’m gonna claim I ran 10k, ha ha. Gonna be a shock to some of my muscles and 46.5 year old bones tomorrow, having not played since early March. Luckily everyone was desperate to play so we’ve actually got 6 a side on the 5 a side court, so maybe I won’t need to do as much running as usual! But I’m still predicting ‘stiff as ****’ on Tuesday morning!

Cheers Rob. Just looked at those. Was hoping not to spend that much, just after something cheap and cheerful to use for football only. Would something like the below do the job, or is it just a pedometer?

Cheers bud. So, Fitbit purchasing advice then. As I’ve never owned or even looked into one. What model am I looking for - ideally as cheap as pos, but be able to track the kms and sync to Strava?

A little bit of tech advice required from you savvy lot. My 5-a-side football is starting again this Monday. I’d be interested in tracking my distance. At the moment, when running, I just use the Strava App on my phone and carry the phone is a waistband. Obvs I won’t be able to wear the waistband and carry the phone when playing. So, what’s the easiest / cheapest way of getting a wearable that’ll give me my running distance for the game (and link to Strava too - but not absolutely necessary if that’s not a cheap option - I don’t wanna spend 100’s of pounds, just a simple distance tracker). Cheers in advance folks.

Just having a look back through the Strava OTIB club and I noted your half marathon last week. Well done boss, great work and smashing your PB. ?

Ha ha. I knew you were enjoying it mate. I’ve tried to tempt him fella. He insists he’s not a runner (as the very expressive post above confirms), but we’ll get him there.

Yep, first time I’ve ran up Oldwood Lane. I was going to run though there a couple of weeks ago but missed the turn and ended up in Rangeworthy. So I rechecked the map this morning and came down Limekiln to enter from the opposite end by Engine Common Lane. Very nice run. Last week I parked up the other side of Wickwar and ran the lanes down toward Hawkesbury and Horton - that’s where I encountered the herd of cows in the middle of the road!! Nice to do a few different routes.

Ha ha. Yeah, I did wonder if I’d see you out and about this morning around Limekiln/Tanhouse. Just to get some variety I’ve started driving a couple of miles up to Wickwar or Cromhall and then running the lanes between there and Yate/Rangeworthy. It’s made a refreshing change and is a nice run.

Managed a course PB this morning over a 7k route I’ve got (well, it’s about 7.25k). Clocked 34:21, which was about 30 seconds up on my previous best. It’s got a beast of a hill too, at the 3k point and I’ve often found that slows me down for about half a k after I get over the top, but today I seemed to get back into stride immediately. 84k July to date. Hopefully get over 150k this month if I can. After 3 weeks or so out injured in early June, happily now feeling back on form.
  17. Wowsers. That’s a great COD passing stat there Dave. It’s always reassuring to think you’ve seen something terrible and then for it to be fully backed up by the stats, ha ha. It’s a poor stat, particularly as it looked as though O’Dearda had a bit of a free reign tonight. Whilst he started on the left, he popped up centrally (in attack), on the right and centrally in midfield too. With such free reign, you’d expect him to have got on the ball more than he did. Just shows his lack of game intelligence too - if you’re free to roam, you’re generally gonna be looking for the ball all over the pitch.

Welcome to the club Tommy. I only joined about 6 weeks or so ago and I’ve found everyone to be welcoming and helpful. It’s a good motivational group. Although there are some weirdo’s, right @CyderInACan ?

I’m an early bird too and it’s usually nice and cool. Tomorrow at 8am it’ll be 19c. At 6am it’ll be 16c. Either way, it’s gonna be unpleasant.
