Stats (not all reliable I'd say) are one thing, watching how the teams play is another one.
How many times/minutes did Stoke really caused us trouble? I can think at last minutes of the first half, beginning of the second half, last minutes of the second half (and this "low amount of attacking threat" was partly our merit). All the rest, was Bristol City possession and chances/half chances created...so hardly an even game.
Did we play far better than them in the first half? Surely yes, and their out-of-nowhere eurogoal doesnt change it. In the second half, did the subs brought us back on top or were uneffective? Yes, the changes had a positive effect and we started dominating the game again. We couldn't capitalize the superiority so you could say we were "wasteful" (a bit of a habit, I'd say) but I think "weak" is quite unfair and doesn't really reflect our performance, except - like I said - our defending for their two second-half goals.
Unfortunately sometimes the opposition team play quite badly/produces almost nothing but somehow find the net, whereas your team play far better but can't score enough: that's what happened today.
Clearly we could have done better...but personally despite the disappointment for the result, I see more positive than negatives today. It can sound weird, BUT...
Their first goal may have been a great strike if you just look at the hit from the guy who scored but surely you have to take into consideration that it was a basic long ball that was touched by 2 of our own defenders, first Naismith can just head it safely out for a throw but opts to head it up and back towards the edge of the box, second we have Pring who gets bullied away from the ball and ends up turning his back away from the ball allowing the shot.
All about opinions at the end of the day. Nige used the word weak himself in the after match interview. I get what your saying and like I said it's IMO but losing 3 goals to a side that supposedly caused us no trouble is hardly what I would call strong.

Weak for 75 minutes?!? What game did you watch?!? Only criticism today can be defending for one or two of their goals, but for the rest we were superior: that's why it hurts.
Anyway, let's hope this missed chance will be followed by a positive reaction.
We conceded 3 goals in those 75 from a starting position of 2-0. We scored 0 goals in those 75 and conceded 3 from a low amount of attacking pressure from Stoke. I mean what do you consider to be classed as weak? We had about 7% more possession over 90 mins and 1 more shot on target over the 90, again this includes the 2-0 headstart. IMO we were weak because we lost at home to a side in terrible form from a massive winning position.

Worse thing is I work for a company based in Stoke. Can't wait to travel up Tuesday and hear all the chirping about us ffs. Sick day incoming!!

Dominated for large parts of the game, lots of chances, they do almost nothing and somehow get 3 points. Defending could have been better, but so undeserved for them!
All of that would be true if they nicked a 1-0 win. You can't be unlucky to start the game 2-0 down and manage a win. City were weak for 75 mins and we paid the price.

Weak mentality, 2 0 lead against worse form team in the league at home. Nobody else loses this game!

How has Naismith not scored?
No conviction, he didn't make a decision on what to do and just let the ball hit him.

Were so frustrating to watch. Got 2 0 up and just stopped playing.

You have to score those at this level. That's the difference between the average and good sides, the good sides put those away!

Goal saving tackle from Vyner, great defending.

OMG how did that stay out??

Justice. Well deserved.

Score when you’re on top . We haven’t.
That’s not what I said .
So if that scenario doesn't happen what exactly were the ref and lino debating? At what point in that passage of play was potentially a deliberate play? It's a made up scenario to excuse the time taken for the flag to be raised.

I am a qualified ref, of course it can.
So as a ref you have seen a defender close down a shot from an attacker and deliberately pass to another attacker?? I don't believe you sorry.

2 minutes ago, ChrisBW said:
Yes basically, cos it’s a deflection Wells is offside. If he had a deliberate play he would be onside. Them the rules.
I get what your saying but in what scenario have you ever seen a shot that is being closed down by a defender deliberately passed to an opposing player? It's basically an impossible scenario, a qualified ref would have spotted that in a nano second because common sense tells you it can't happen. That's why I didn't understand the delay is all.

No, depends on the deflection….deliberate play or not…..Lino won’t be able to see and will wait on ref call.
What so your saying the defender was just accidently taking a lie down in front of a shot?? I mean the defender deliberately tries to block a goal bound shot. From the video posted online when the shot was struck he was basically level without the fine lines of var. The linesman and the ref if involved guessed.

Joke.
i dont care whether it was or wasnt offside, you cant take that long to put your flag up. If he was so sure it wouldve gone straight up. Joke decisionYep I think he missed it or something and then guessed. I mean it takes literally 1 second if he is inline to decide on or off, waiting that long just means he wasn't sure but though it was safer to flag instead of getting it wrong and costing a goal.
-
Wtf linesman waits like 30 seconds to flag????

Mate you’ve seen the best part of the half.
Chill
We played 42 mins, he say's he has watched 22. Hull did a lot less in their 20 mins than we have in our 22 or so. The only difference is they had someone who found the net with a simple chance where we had 2 who couldn't hit a barn door.

I would be so frustrated if I was Pearson. You have people questioning his ability to manage but how can you legislate for the player you put out there not being able to do a basic finish under no pressure? If you take 10 mins out of this half we have been the much better side.

**** off Williams, you can't miss that no excuse. How many chances like that do you get!

-
How do you have 2 professional defenders, 1 either side of the only guy in the box but neither thinks to actually mark him?? I mean it's so basic, there was nobody else to mark.

Were an average team that put's in average performances. Over the course of the season we will probably get enough points for an average league finish. That's the reality of our club at the moment. We have to move on our star's to stay average and regardless of what we as fan's think and want this will be the way of it.

It’s an unnecessary risk when already on a booking to throw your arm out to stop a counter. Naive, should know better.
Have you ever played the game?? Dickie literally did nothing, the guy knocked it past him and launched himself to the floor. Dickie obviously has forward momentum, he can't just stop. Contact if there was any wasn't enough to send over a toddler let alone a grown man. The guy sold it and the ref bought it.

You got to laugh, guaranteed this ref has never kicked a ball in his life.
