  1. The Grauniad - "Bristol City’s relegation hammers home stark financial realities of WSL"
  2. I stand corrected, schooled by the master!
  3. Didn't it end up with us selling him at a profit?
  4. The "nest egg" that results in a significant annual loss?
  5. Maybe we'll get there by proxy, with the entire Bournemouth team being ex-City players. I think in all seriousness, the fact that the 'Bristol City old boys' used to be Exeter* shows how we've progressed. *(no disrespect to the Grecians)
  6. Newsreaders and presenters who pronounce "Police" as "Pleece" (like "Fleece"). Even on Radio 4. It's the end of civilisation, I tell you.
  7. Cycling wise, it's south or east Bristol all the way. Easy access to Chew and on to Cheddar. Cycle paths, etc. Bristol is an absolute cycling hotspot, several bike journos are based there or nearby, eg Bikeradar, Road.cc (IIRC); GCN is in Bath. Can't wait to move to the area, either Bristol or Bath. But the rented market is nuts. Incidentally, if you like 'country in the city', look at St Anne's area, down by the river.
  8. 100%. My bestie took me to Barca for my 50th. AirBnb was just round the corner; it's utterly nuts. The old quarter is lovely, as is the market area. The whole city is frankly lovely, and it's really easy to get around. Plus it's a big city, but the main central bit feels quite small. I didn't get a chance to go to the Gardens, apparently they're amazing. Oh, and we did a walking tour of the city, one of those where you pay your guide what you think it's worth. Superb.
  9. One of them went on to have a decent career, including a long stint at Exeter
  10. I met Susannah York outside Bristol Zoo once. Perfectly pleasant, but she had a right potty mouth on her.
  11. I would consider myself a loyal City fan, but that doesn't mean I'm not critical of certain aspects of the club's management and leadership, and of some of the decisions made by said management and leadership. Loyalty should not blind you to reality. Not questioning decisions is not loyalty; it's blind obedience.
  12. Works in other sports. It's got to be better than the referee effectively having every decision scrutinised by VAR, like some over-zealous teacher.
  13. And show the incident on the screens, like in egg chasing and cricket VAR is only used on appeal. Simples. You get one or two per game.
  14. I think VAR should ONLY be used on appeal. As for the Florists, I have zero sympathy. Having seen the highlights, only one of the three incidents was a possible pen. Clutching at straws.
  15. If the club was a basket case when Nige left, in your opinion, how much worse was it like when he took over? Or do you feel he achieved nothing? Or maybe you think Nige himself was a basket case?
  16. How much of a loss to City was it when Richard Gould left? How do you reconcile that at both Bristol City and Leicester, you did all the hard work to reorganise the squads, etc, then saw someone else come in and take over to move it into the next phase? Did you really fight a wolf?
  17. OK, so I'm in limbo - what do I do with my stuff? I don't want the faff of handing it out to half a dozen people, one person/body gets the lot. Ain't I a stinker.
  18. The heritage and archive sounds interesting. Didn't know it existed.
  19. Or (talking of an actual FA Cup game) would Tins' goal against Liverpool have been immortalised? Did it involve tents and 10,000 locked out of replays?
  20. Free to a good home, a whole bunch of City stuff, including books, LDV (etc) final tickets, video of the 1994 Liverpool game, etc. etc. I even have some old EP cuttings I'll chuck in. Let me know if you're interested, next time I'm in Bristol I'll sort out collection.
