No, we sold him at a net loss, although the money we got from Cardiff represented his amortised value so no loss in the books.
I stand corrected, schooled by the master!

I just hope that unlike many, his form stays if he gets a long term contract. I remember a certain Tomlin performance at the last home game one year with the whole crowd singing sign him up. Look how that ended.
Didn't it end up with us selling him at a profit?

Don’t forget that he isn’t the problem though. We’re Bristol City and to bring in a couple of new faces in the summer, we could easily lose several of our top players to fund it, to avoid cracking open the nest egg.
The "nest egg" that results in a significant annual loss?

Best points tally in their history and in the Premiership .. with arguably 3 of our best past players in their squad in Kelly, Semenyo and Scott… We are never gonna get there are we? Not in my lifetime anyway.
Maybe we'll get there by proxy, with the entire Bournemouth team being ex-City players.
I think in all seriousness, the fact that the 'Bristol City old boys' used to be Exeter* shows how we've progressed.

Newsreaders and presenters who pronounce "Police" as "Pleece" (like "Fleece").
Even on Radio 4.
It's the end of civilisation, I tell you.

I don't live in Bristol but have worked there a fair bit over the years.
Personally, if I was starting from scratch and working from home I would try to find a place with a decent view over the lid of the laptop and out of the 'office' (spare room) window. There are a fair few hills around the outskirts of the city which might offer some chances of that.
As you aren't commuting you could go anywhere. Good shouts about the seaside towns (views). I used to drive through Wick and Warmley a lot and that strikes me as close to nice countryside. If you like cycling there are routes on the old rail lines from there I am told.
Cycling wise, it's south or east Bristol all the way. Easy access to Chew and on to Cheddar. Cycle paths, etc.
Bristol is an absolute cycling hotspot, several bike journos are based there or nearby, eg Bikeradar, Road.cc (IIRC); GCN is in Bath.
Can't wait to move to the area, either Bristol or Bath. But the rented market is nuts.
Incidentally, if you like 'country in the city', look at St Anne's area, down by the river.

Sagrada Familia. But book it in advance. Absolutely stunning.
100%. My bestie took me to Barca for my 50th. AirBnb was just round the corner; it's utterly nuts.
The old quarter is lovely, as is the market area. The whole city is frankly lovely, and it's really easy to get around. Plus it's a big city, but the main central bit feels quite small.
I didn't get a chance to go to the Gardens, apparently they're amazing.
Oh, and we did a walking tour of the city, one of those where you pay your guide what you think it's worth. Superb.

We signed two Irish lads in Coppels summer who were suggested by the same agent who represented the Hunt brothers and Shane Long for Coppel whilst he was at Reading
One of them went on to have a decent career, including a long stint at Exeter

Indeed, thought I was on the wrong forum for a moment.
All this movie star talk too. Our friends daughter works in TV and films, reckons Anthony Hopkins is a real gent.
I met Susannah York outside Bristol Zoo once. Perfectly pleasant, but she had a right potty mouth on her.

It seems on here being a loyal City fan is very much ridiculed.
I would consider myself a loyal City fan, but that doesn't mean I'm not critical of certain aspects of the club's management and leadership, and of some of the decisions made by said management and leadership.
Loyalty should not blind you to reality. Not questioning decisions is not loyalty; it's blind obedience.

So for example in the Forest game, they appeal the first one and the VAR disagrees as happened. No penalty and no more appeals? Or is it a case of if you appeal, you'd almost be forcing the VAR to make a decision in your favour to avoid backlash?
I feel like that would just open it up to even more confusion personally.
Works in other sports. It's got to be better than the referee effectively having every decision scrutinised by VAR, like some over-zealous teacher.

I think what they need to do is make the conversation audible, at least to TV audiences. That would ensure there's at least an understanding of the process
And show the incident on the screens, like in egg chasing and cricket
1 minute ago, Roe said:I'm not sure how people think being able to "appeal" like in cricket etc would help. These decisions people are talking about have already been reviewed and people will always disagree with subjective calls
VAR is only used on appeal. Simples. You get one or two per game.

The simple solution to the VAR problem is to allow, as in cricket, the on field captain to call for a review of contentious decisions. I would suggest one review per each half, to be retained if the review is successful, lost if it’s not. As in cricket the review would be carried out by an off field official whose decision would be binding. No need to send the on field ref to a monitor.
The on field captain would be able to review any decision, including offside, handball, potential second yellow cards etc.etc and adds an element of discretion in the use of VAR.
I think VAR should ONLY be used on appeal.
As for the Florists, I have zero sympathy. Having seen the highlights, only one of the three incidents was a possible pen.
Clutching at straws.

Do what? What would have impressed you in any manager having to take over a Pearson (basket) case 6 months ago? The summer will go well because the club (ie owners & senior, respected managers will back Liam) so you have no reason to have a bad feeling. And what the hell do you mean by regression? Since when, since Cotts or since Johnson? There has been zero regression since Pearson lef; the players are happier, the cup run, we beat or draw with top teams, we smash poor teams etc etc - sometimes the negativity of you (and others) posts is simply baffling. What regression can you possibly mean?
If the club was a basket case when Nige left, in your opinion, how much worse was it like when he took over? Or do you feel he achieved nothing?
Or maybe you think Nige himself was a basket case?

How much of a loss to City was it when Richard Gould left?
How do you reconcile that at both Bristol City and Leicester, you did all the hard work to reorganise the squads, etc, then saw someone else come in and take over to move it into the next phase?
Did you really fight a wolf?

OK, so I'm in limbo - what do I do with my stuff? I don't want the faff of handing it out to half a dozen people, one person/body gets the lot. Ain't I a stinker.

Would Korey Smith have burst into the box in injury time against Man United if the League Cup had replays?
Or (talking of an actual FA Cup game) would Tins' goal against Liverpool have been immortalised?
