  1. Well done JB , give your typing fingers a rest for a couple of months.

Thanks for the hard work over the season.

    I think maybe a 1-1 or 2-2 .
Interested in the starting XI .
Pring and James out. Could shuffle across with Vyner coming in , rather than go to a back 4.
Williams & Knight in the middle . I don't see any surprises.
    Knight-Lebel to get 30 mins ? Mebude to get a farewell 2 minutes ?

He would have had a promotion eage increase in his contract wouldn't be surprised if he was on around 40k per week

40k ??? He signed from MK not AC , what do you think Burnley's higher earners are on ?

I read an article that said Burnley had the 3rd lowest wage bill in the Prem , and lower than Leicester, Leeds and Southampton as Championship sides. It's incredibly difficult to get a real read on salaries , but when I've looked the top earner at Burnley has never come out higher than £48k , Twine always comes out around £4k . That may be way too low, but no way is he on anywhere near £40k.

I would think he's within our budget , I'm just not sure the fee will be.

  3. Shame we didn't get some his best years, he was good enough at the tail end of his career.
I thought he might have been a coach long term, I think that changed with the change of Manager. I don't think it will take him long to find a job if he wants one. Top man.

Gave in and renewed today -1 seat.

Moved over to the Dolman. Not ideal seats but it is what it is. Shame that it showed me seats available in the SS and there was some ideal seats.

Only reason I renewed was because of the scare stories of the season ticket cap nearly being reached so I wanted to secure seats for the future.

There is a requirement for PotD tickets , Norwich have reached theirs the last few years at 21k in a 27k stadium. I'm guessing ours would be 19/20 k , why they would lower that baffles me. Turn down a seasons money on the chance they will earn more from more PotD punters ? Risky IMO .

I think we have to do business early and a few things to drop into place to sell out the early games. Then what about any drop in form etc . If it pays off great , probably £10 or more per game for every PotD Vs STH . But for every time that STH's seat that wasn't sold, isn't taken by PotD they lose £25 .
But they haven't released the limit , it could be a brilliant sales tactic. If it is you're proof it worked . I wish someone could ask what the cut off figure is, but them it would cause sales if it was 19,000.

I can relate to that, as I'm sure can many others. I know a Bournemouth fan, who was home and away with them for years, away games in a private coach or mini bus all with the same bunch of mates. The last time I spoke to him, he had lost his love for the game. Kick off times always changing, unable to get tickets with mates etc. The first season was fun, going to all the big grounds, but that soon wore off, and his best away day in recent years was apparantly at Watford, because it was a 3pm kick off on a Saturday and all his old gang could get together.

As I said, I still have some great days out with Rovers, but middle aged and old men who don't buy merchandise and enjoy going out on the piss in real pubs rather than a concourse bar are not the demographic clubs are looking for, and strictly on business lines, who can blame them?

I've had a similar conversation with mates. If we ever got there I think I'd go as much as possible , then I would seriously consider what I was doing next. If we did get up it would be unlikely we would stay for long enough to get disillusioned , but not sure it would take that long.
I have a Norwich mate , after loving doing well in the Championship he hated the Prem .

The guys I go with pick a few games a year for an away day , I love Saturday afternoons in different towns . Playing away on Sundays afternoon, Monday nights or what ever, just doesn't appeal to me.  Gone are the days we had vans or coaches going to every game religiously .

  6. After seeing us linked , or suggestion really , to a right winger ....

dragging up an old quote , but nice all the same.

In a January 2023 interview with the One Stream in Bristol podcast, Adomah said he'd play for City for free.

He said: “I’ve loved the love you have shown me every time I have come back to Ashton Gate, I appreciate that. Hopefully, one day who knows, I’m still playing and I might come back to Bristol City.

"Mr. Lansdown the chairman, if he can give me another crack even if it is a short spell. When I’m out of contract with QPR I might be a free agent then so you don’t have to pay for me.

I've loved his story , he's done brilliantly . Really looking forward to his next move.

Amazing that they pick out 2 incidents that benefit us in 3 weeks of review as part of their ex Ref Analysis.

Should we be querying it as a Club? The offside calls at Norwich were suspect but I didn't see any analysis of that at all.

It does get a bit conspiracy and tin foil hat, but you can't help but feel that some times.

Nice away game at Norwich where both offsides go the way of the promotion chasing ex Prem side = radio silence. Now I guess they could say without VAR cameras it's had to say , but do they go through all Penalty incidents from every weekend?

Probably reading too much into it, but still .

Ironically our last two penalties have been deemed incorrect by Sky Sports Ref Review of Weekend big Calls.

Of all the decisions in the EFL in a given weekend we come out in 2 of 3 weeks as undeserving beneficiaries. Conway was deemed to have dived in the latter ie v Rotherham.

Not sure how closely they actually look at the ones outside the Prem.

TBF I was convinced he dived , until I saw some footage from behind the goal and you can see the keeper clips TC's foot so he trips . He carries on a little as he's trying to stay up and score. I'd be amazed if they look more than a couple of times.

The handball Vs Huddersfield I'm happy to take the Refs word. Her view was the best in the house. Might be harsh, but the arm seems out a little and it stops a cross .

It is almost laughable when you think we have had stone wall Pens turned down over that 60 odd match run , and plenty much more obvious than the ones we have been given lately.
    Long may it continue.

I’d rather get penalties than MOTM awards! 😉I

    Good point.

They probably realised they couldn't sheet us on Pens any more , not after all the coverage. So because that has changed , and we are allowed Pens again, they decided to cheat us over MotM awards .

    I see what they're doing

  12. Now this is decent sales tactics . Make it limited availability and people could be pushed into making the decision .
They could be talking about the League requirement , which I'm guessing would be around 19/20k , still a limit just not revealing it. They could be genuine in lowering that , but even 16k is a fair jump from last year but also still limited availability . Clever.

  13. On form alone, and if this is right.

    4 teams have 12 points from 6.

    2 teams unbeaten .

We have best goals against and equal best goal difference.

4 clean sheets from 6 games.

We are 2nd in the form table behind the team that has just won the Championship, and they have lost in that run. You would think Manning would have got the nomination

To be fair to @Topper 123 he did call 12,000 sold at the end of the renewal period and was widely mocked for it before the figures were officially announced.

Not saying this is correct but happy to wait and see. Will be great news if so.

Absolutely , I'd be happy if it's true. 12,000 seems an easier guess though , I think we would have all been confident of reaching that mark. 15k is another thing , that was the total last year including 1/2 Season Tickets I believe .
    That would be impressive.

Hanham, St George have always been mixed, but I'm surprised what you say about Fishponds. Were you born in 1960? I was born in 64, went to Whitefield and it was pretty much solid Rovers when I went there.

Yep, 1960. many of the lads in my year , that were vocal about it, were City. My mates anyway.

Went to watch the Chelsea V Everton game and have a Curry ,with a few lads that were in the year above me, the other week. They were all City too.

My view is the 'areas' thing is in the past, for any team in any city. Life just isn't like that any more, what with work, transport, education, accommodation.

Perhaps some of your generation have given up somewhat on catching up with City and the next youth generation have less rivalry in mind.

Those area line were never as defined as some think.
I grew up in BS2 , my mates were City too. Went to Whitefield and there were plenty of City there and we used to run coaches from the Maypole in Hanham in the 80s . I had plenty of mates in Kingswood & Hanham that were City , Easton and Fishponds too , I have mates that grew up in Filton . Overall maybe , but never as black & White ( Red & Blue) as it has been painted at times.

Any idea how the City woman's game was priced and were there any freebies for STH? That's not a dig btw, I am genuinely concerned at figures like this and my club ignore them at their peril.

They have been quite cheap and a few deals on. I think they deliberately aimed towards the young female market, and rightly so. I'm amazed at the attendances, probably better getting more in at lower prices so they can spend in the Stadium.
I think I paid about £10 for the Man U game , for the game against Everton on 18th is only £4 .
