The games I’ve watched we defend as 3 units, and each unit is disconnected and easy to play through.  We knacker ourselves by not having any compactness, and are constantly doing doggies to close the ball down.

Sadly, it's down to 3 things. The coaching and tactics have made it very hard to get results. I can't see LS learning a great deal from this and rebuilding next season. I would get a new coach. The players are simply not good enough for WPL. When you come up against seasoned internationals every week then it's tough. This leads on to the final point. Investment, recruitment and development. If Bristol Sport is serious about a WPL team then it will cost.

Brilliant cut back by Thestrup to where Thestrup should be. Still 1-0 Spurs aren't brilliant.

Spurs should have scored a lot more. 5 or 6 excellent chances at least.

Not a massive follower of the women’s team but do like to keep an eye on results as tbf it’s Bristol city and anything Bristol city catches my eye , but every time I look at a result or match stats we have nearly always lost and the match stats are always pretty much veryone sided , are we really that bad in this division I know the women’s game has grown massively are we that far behind the game line and is it simpley , funding

We are a long way behind the top teams in the PL. It's all about funding now the big clubs have decided the women's game is worth investing in. Like the men's team we can't compete unless we invest. Although it's a lot more affordable in the WPL. However, the best players are always going to be attracted by the big name clubs. I'm not sure about the pathway for younger players to progress, but would hope that it can follow the model of the men's team. Apart from selling our best players! I think the coaching has been poor this season, very little plan B and performances have been predictable.

    One down

Same problems as usual. Early goal  conceding possession through poor passing, getting hurried in possession. Better press when spurs keeper has the ball, but should be 2 down. Poor miss from spurs.

Respect to those who live locally and this is by no means a competition or remark on other fans, I’m a Bristolian from birth but haven’t lived there for a good 20 odd years and unlikely to ever move back. That said I am a season ticket holder of over 30 years yet feel frustrated in many aspects.

Well I guess to start with, it costs probably £100 a home game without season ticket, so every game is an away game, six hour round trip, yet you don’t feel you get plaudits for that or recognition, believe me it ruins your Saturday more than a 20 min drive home (I’ve done both and for sure it hurts more as you sit on the journey mulling it over and get home late!).

You get the odd ‘home’ game in London fair enough, but you still pay for your match ticket and travel!

You can’t even listen to City on Radio Bristol without paying! Because you are a city fan who doesn’t live in the area….I mean how unfair is that?! So if you can’t make a game as an exile you are essentially out of pocket either way. A local fan who cannot make it can pass the time by switching on local radio.

Basically I think us exiled fans deserve a form of loyalty! Now whether that’s loyalty points for distance travelled overall, discount off merchandise, or a free home shirt, but minimum allow exiled ST holders free radio commentary coverage!

I could easily get a season ticket at Arsenal tomorrow or West Ham. But they aren’t my club, City are, however I probably spend more than a season ticket at both those clubs combined to watch Champ football at AG. So, what can be done to encourage that and commend those supporters (many I know on here) who commit huge amounts of time and money to get to home games, plus the fact travel away most weeks too. Interesting debate, appreciate life is about choices, but some are enforced too and one thing we cannot lose is our first love - our football club!

Sorry you have to put up with negative comments in what is an interesting and genuine question. My brother lives in Hertfordshire so like you every home game is 'away'. He chooses to have a ST so we can all sit together, we live 10 minutes walk from AG, but rarely does night games. It's a challenge for anyone living outside Bristol. I do think there needs to be a better reward system alongside other improvements, not least on the pitch. I've been going to AG for 53 years, and like many I feel there is still a massive 'disconnect' between the club and fans. Despite all the talk, the foundation and supporter services. Don't get me wrong, they do a lot of great work, but everything can be improved.

  6. I think this pretty much sums everything up. We just accept the mediocrity and start again in August. The blame firmly sits with the owners. Fed up like many people. Solution, not an easy one as no foreign investor will want to buy Bristol Sport. It's hard enough finding investors for a football club!

I think it would be a balance of results and performance. At the very least they'll expect 9-10 points but more than anything they'd need to see a team capable of competing next season and that is where I think he'd lose his job. There is no way we're going to see a competitive team in all of those 8 games.

Leicester away - Only chance we have with this game is if Leicester comes looking to thump us and play aggressive opening up the game to suit us. Personally I think having given up a massive points lead at the top of the table they'll be looking to get that top spot back so we'll be getting a very up for it Leicester.

Plymouth away - in the relegation battle, most likely going to set up not to concede and make things difficult for us, exactly what we struggle with. I could see this being one of those games where we struggle to create a lot.

Sunderland away - probably one of the games we should be hoping to get points from, they're midtable, far enough behind to make a final push unlikely but also safe from relegation so we should be hoping they're not much up for a scrap.

Blackburn home - another team who could be in the relegation fight come this game, currently only 3 points of relegation and another team who may set up to frustrate us.

Huddersfield home - in the relegation zone, a point could be huge for them at the time we play them, definitely going to be looking to set up defensively against us and frustrate.

Norwich away - Currently in the play offs, if they're still in or around them when we play them they're going to need that win, could play in our favour if they look to bring the game to us but whatever their gameplan they will be up for it.

Rotherham home - already dead and buried, anything other than a win in this fixture and Manning has to be in trouble.

Stoke away - also in the relegation battle, kind of hoping they may get enough points to be out of it by this game meaning it could be a little less cagey but if they're in the battle still then I'd expect them to be looking to take the game to us.

It's not an easy run in, on paper you'd look at alot of those games and say we should be getting points but based on what I've seen under Manning I could see it's dropping a lot of points if he doesn't find a way to overcome our struggle to score goals in own play and break down teams who sit back and frustrate.

I agree, points will be hard to get over the next few games.

I actually believe that the side has regressed this past year and are a long way off where we were a year ago

Lauren is as uninspiring as Liam on the touchline and her interviews are just as bad

Lots of effort but a long way short of being good enough

I would agree Phantom. Little flair or personality.

0-2 final, game over once Napier was sent off. Glimpses of quality, battled their hearts out as usual but Utd strolled it really.

Totally agree. The gulf in quality is massive. Thestrup isolated constantly trying to press 3 central defenders. They could just stroll around and find a pass. Setup was about damage limitation, which worked due to poor MU finishing. Still a huge problem holding onto the ball. It's laudable trying to play out from the back, but the players aren't good enough. To many misplaced passes, particularly in midfield. I've said before that there is too much space in the formation of the team. It's too easy for teams to fill these gaps with a press, and force turnovers. Hopefully the players have learnt a lot, not sure about the coaching.  They could struggle in the Championship next season.

    1-0 down after 9 minutes

Apart from a hopeful long ball, we hadn't been out of our half up to that point

It's going to be a long afternoon.  Like a training game for MU. We drop so deep when they are in possession, their players can play walking football.

Does he know nothing about management?  Working 7to 7 is nothing to boast about.  Evidence suggests a better life balance leads to better management. There is nothing meritorious in working long hours per se.

Just get a grip, get organised, learn to delegate, and for goodness sake tackle the job with genuine enthusiasm, and enthuse players and fans alike.  Oh, and stop putting the blame on others.  The buck stops with you.

There is still a perception by some people that working long hours is essential, a sign of commitment, or other such reasons, etc. Generally it's more important to work smarter. As a psychologist, there are clearly issues that are not being addressed hence the problems we are currently experiencing. Totally agree the buck stops with LM and the team he brought in, as well as the Lansdown team. Unless this changes, we are in for a rough few weeks, followed by a summer of 'spin' from the board etc.

I didn’t watch the match ( I was washing my hair) but cold hard stats don’t point to a hammering.
Just to add that , curiously , after more than fifty years loving this club.I don’t really care anymore. I am thoroughly peed off with the club . I have dropped Robin’s TV . Rarely listen to the interviews or watch the highlights. They have killed the little enjoyment that I got from supporting this team.

Pretty fed up too. First game in 1971, it's just a shambles of a club. I saw the game and we're just so predictable and easy to play against.

I think we got what we deserved

Nothing. Stats mean nothing, so does hitting the crossbar twice from set pieces. We were poor in many aspects of the game. WBA could have had a lot more with better decision making. We were OK at times on the break, but playing Conway up front means he's often isolated as central midfield doesn't keep up; even if we get the ball wide. We're lucky others below are just as bad. Still a way to go, but as I always say...18th position given our run in.

Trevor Challis shared this. Some good goals and hope you can vote for Ellijah Morrison for his goal v Burnley. It's better than the current leader from Plymouth. The best team goal is probably the Sutton Utv v Franchise.

    Enjoy 😉

Sadly he didn't win. Clearly Plymouth managed to motivate more people to vote despite the goal being nowhere near as good as the others.

There is definitely things going on that aren't in the public domain, apologies but I don't understand why they would be contacting you?

My point was that anything you are planning on doing is likely already in progress

OK, but the fact that I coached and managed BCWFC from 1998 to around 2000 might be of interest. I am contacting Neil Palmer anyway.

  16. Generally better but psychological approach is clearly a struggle. Conceding so quickly after scoring and unable to adapt to the relentless pressure, particularly from Burns. Ipswich showed us what momentum is, just like Southampton when they went straight up from league 1. We are miles off this sort of squad and will still struggle until the end of the season.

For fear of you treading on people's toes and also to prevent you duplicating work already done I'd advise speaking to both Neil Palmer and Scott Davidson first.

It's possible both the former players association and the Bristol City Heritage have the ball rolling on this already.

Thanks, but knowing City I won't hold my breath until the contact me about my work with BCWFC. 😀

As a simple question: is there any official documentary/historical recording of the original City Girls? I know that was a long time ago (it doesn't seem so to old duffers like me!) and that the organisation then was a whole world away from the WSL, but does the club have a space in its heritage? If not, perhaps there should be.

I remember watching local women's football since the days of (City fan) Marcia Dean and wonder 'where are they now?' Are any of the girls still involved with football?

I have thought about this many times. Many still go to AG and I see them around. It would be great to get the ball rolling on a proper history of the club  and perhaps get it in print. I'll get my thinking cap on and reach out to some of the ex players. 🤔
