  1. Can’t argue with any of that. Feels to me this is the last big roll of the dice for the Lansdowns, it’s clear Steve has got it in his head that a young progressive ‘up and coming’ head coach is the way to go - backed up by his comments that he isn’t best pleased that clubs like Luton Brentford etc etc have all reached the top flight before us. Manning will get my full backing and at the end of the day i want whats best for our football club. This could very well be a stroke of genius from Lansdown and as much as i want the bloke to piss off and sell up I genuinely hope this appointment works out irrespective of my feelings towards him and his son.
  2. Indeed. Such is life. We are a fair few rungs up the proverbial football ladder than Oxford who as i said on a previous post haven’t played football at this level in almost 26 years.. They can say all they want about us being mediocre in the Championship (which granted we have) but where the **** have they been the last 15-20 years? Bobbing around the fourth tier/ third tier and having a nice little stint in non-league (similar to our blue neighbours) all whilst getting at best no more than 8 k home gates..
  3. 100%. I don’t think anyone truly knows Tinnion’s role but i’d be shocked and equally terrified if he had full control of future signings and Manning had no say. I just can’t see it working like that personally.
  4. Whats the overtime rates that Bristol Sport are paying, just out of interest?..
  5. Can see a few of their fans are starting to feel a bit bitter about the situation, can’t blame them i guess as this could more than likely derail their promotion campaign. At the end of the day he makes some valid points and we have been underwhelming since our return to the Championship but something has to give IMO and maybe Manning with the right financial backing (which i think he will get) can be the man to take us to the next level. Nothing against Oxford but for a club that hasn’t played in the second tier in almost 26 years and that have spent a fair chunk of that time in the basement and non-league as i said it just seems pretty pointless and bitter to suggest that coming to us isn’t a good move for Manning.
  6. So 48 pages and still not any clearer.. sound
  7. I think you are forgetting the potential financial implications for Manning. This isn’t going to just be a 5 or 10 k a year pay increase by coming here IMO, i’d imagine the increase in salary we are offering could be potentially life changing for him and his family. Towing the line and doing what the club ‘wants’ from him may be a sacrifice he is willing to make to set him and his family up.. Also who’s to say that he won’t look at the framework/setup that has been pitched to him by Tinnion and the powers that be and still back himself to do a job here and meet the objectives set.. who knows?
  8. Know nothing about Manning but he seems to fit the bill of what the powers that be would like. Doesn’t on paper seem like an upgrade on Pearson, all you can do is judge the new man on results.. who knows it could be an inspired appointment for once.
  9. Ah fair enough. Yeah, certainly a duller place without him
  10. Where has @Robbored gone? Genuine question..
  11. Multiple people reporting Fleming has already gone.. unless that is complete BS which it could well be!
  12. Can’t see a Scott Parker for one second working under the current setup.. I think Tinnions interview pretty much ruled out a number of candidates purely on the fact that the setup here isn’t going to be to the liking of managers who have player or managed at a higher level. I genuinely believe it is going to be someone from the lower leagues who will see this as a big opportunity and will tow the line. Can’t see it going any other way to be honest.
  13. A fairly poor game and a win against let’s be honest a team we should be comfortably beating at home. Fair play to Fleming and the lads though, difficult circumstances and they did enough to win the game. Wasn’t pretty but they did enough. Can’t complain too much, only 4 points off the play-offs aswell, a decent starting point for whoever the new man is that comes in and takes over.
  14. Fair play Nige, we won’t forget what you did for our club. Still gutted he has gone
  15. **** me there are some strange characters on this forum
  16. Who’s your source fella? The man in your local boozer?..
  17. Same. Raising the profile of the football club is about the only thing i can think of. I just can’t see Lampard coming here and doing well for some reason, everything just screams that it just wouldn’t work out..
  18. You’re better than that Fordy
  19. But as has been said on numerous occasions and again by Fleming in the press conference yesterday, almost all of our injuries are impact ones. Impact injuries are what they are, JL can say what he wants about rest time etc etc but you cannot prevent genuine impact injuries. We have just been unlucky IMO however its clear to see they have just tried to find any excuse to use to the detriment of Nige and his team.
  20. Yeah just confirmed what we already knew then. The boy thinks he knows better than the vastly experienced PHD qualified Dave rennie, and Brian ******* Tinnion seems to now have full control of all football operations. God help us.
  21. Steve Coppell to give it another go
  22. I had the feeling it was more Pearson who was personally against them more than the club to be honest. Just the feeling i always got, might be wrong..
  23. Interesting. He certainly will have to work with different ‘tools’ here if what Tinnion is saying is actually to be believed and that is our concrete plan going forward.
