It's something that's worked for years in football, teams have used players like Sheringham or Crouch or Dublin as a focal point. Mixing and matching different talents into different formations is fundamental to coaching and Management. I don't see that as limiting at all.

I agree, bit that's not the game anymore. Hardly any teams play 442 or 2 up top. Strikers now tend to play on their own, with 2 wingers either side. Strikers need to be all rounders, able to hold the ball up, run the channels, pop up in the 6 yard box. Chris wins the flick on, then it takes an age for him to get in the box. Balls over the top aren't for him, we rarely stretch defences, we are limited to playing balls to his head chest or feet, back to goal...

His hold up play is also fantastic, bit like Adebola, won’t score a tonne of goals but really helps create them.

I do rate Martin this season, but in his advancing years, he will always need another striker alongside him to provide pace.

That limits us in terms of formations,

They look so young.  I know they're young but they look like kids.  Cheers for that tho.

Literally thought this, it's like under 15s!

Just shows what a prospect Scott in particular is

Brilliant- thanks, I'll be recounting that story for years and as I read it on OTIB - it must be true.

Jet taught me never ever to get attached to a player again and I never have. They come- they go but few are as enigmatic as Jet.

Yep, JET, Albert, even Scotty have broken my heart over the years. I stil never learn.

No, players who are not regressing. There will be teams promoted this year and they will release players who wont make it in the prem, these are the players to go for, solid Championship players.

Every year there are loads of good free agents and the same clubs snap them up, yet we pick up injury prone players all the time. Gary O'Neill imo done well for us.

Warnock at every club hes gone to signs sensible free agents, so has Wilder,  We seem to be late to the party and get the dregs of the barrell and then pay them massive wages and cause a bigger problem.

And you have seen all the other teams below us every week to know if they are better or worse?

There's only so much crap football I can watch...

On and off the pitch it's been a shocking season and I genuinely fear for next season.

I am absolutely disgusted with that performance.   12 months have passed and again we are subjected to clueless half witted error prone rubbish.    Shocking defending, absent midfield, poor finishing,  injury upon injury.    No progress whatsoever.

Yep but we will have another air clearing, another random youngster thrown in the team as a round peg in a square hole, rub forehead, chuckle, lose, rinse and repeat...

    It's not just us affected.
