We're unlikely to ever know the figure.

However he's certainly not cost us 50p. Loans are expensive.

If he were to lead us to the premier league, that's value for money. But let's be honest, we wrote this season off a long time ago and he's not going to be leading us to the premier league. So in that sense I don't really see the point in bringing in a short term costly signing. May aswell concentrate on the future.

"We wrote this season off a long time ago"

Whos we, WE are 4 points off playoffs

A gentlemans agreement in football isn't worth the hand shake that was given. Ask Harry Kane about that.

Twine could come here and score 10 and assist 10 and then suddenly Burnley want 10 million. There are no friends in football. It is brutal. It is every person for themselves.

Maybe scott had an agreement with the lansdowns not every football owner is Daniel levy

  3. The agreement does not include an option to buy, as was the case with Taylor Gardner-Hickman's loan from West Brom, but there is a confidence that if the 24-year-old proves a success a more long-term resolution can be reached, albeit with the security such a clause would provide.

from bristol post, hopefully we have atleast a gentleman's agreement over price.

I don’t think it’s fair to bring Manning into the conversation in this particular way.
LM clearly knows what Twine can do and he wants him. It’s not up to LM to conduct the financial side of the deal.
LM says to BT - I want Twine.
BT and assorted members of the board have to go and do the deal.
The fact it’s a loan without an option is 100% the responsibility of BT. LM is not part of that conversation.
LM doesn’t need a “try before you buy”. He knows the kid inside out.

Wait its not JUST tinnion its the whole recruitment team

    Jesus, this is hard work.

Nobody is saying that his signing might not be positive for the team in the short term. But I don’t think you’re daft enough to think it gets us promotion, and one loan signing doesn’t move the dial on other players.

Its not about whether he improves the side in the short term (likely opinion he does), its about what sense this signing makes considering our position now, the time that LM is stated to need, the lack of an oven ready academy player at the end of the loan and the fact the player is a known quantity.

You seem to think you’re a bright bloke. Surely you must look at all those factors and think “Yeah there’s a point there”, but instead you’ve decided that because I’ve expressed doubts over LM then it can’t be valid. Hint sweetheart- lots of other people on the thread who haven’t expressed doubts over LM are saying the same thing….

It's just so negative though, like how can you just be so cocksure we aint challenging the play offs , I'm not saying we will but my god its far from over.

I can't believe how unreasonable our fans are! They are completely overreacting to Twine's signing. He is a quality player for us, but they are throwing a tantrum about it.

We complain about lack of progression, but then we complain when we sign players who will help us improve, just because we don't have an option to buy. I have never seen the fans make such a fuss about not having the option to buy before. It makes no sense.

Maybe other options are not available, so we have gone with the best option to cover us until the summer? I am fed up with our supporters getting hysterical at every turn. It's like the Lansdowns have come into your house and taken your money for this signing.

I am really sick of our whiny entitled supporters. We sound like spoiled kids who are angry because they didn't get a game with their PlayStation 5.

But having a player familiar with Manning's style and so could speed up the process of other players picking up some on some of the intricacies, can slot in right away without a time of getting to know the system etc, that couldn't have any positives at all could it?

Or perhaps this is Silvio 'be as negative about Manning as is possible on every single topic' Dante striking yet again.

I'll await your half time and full time threads slating everything from line up to shoelace colours if we aren't beating West Ham 10-0 after 2 minutes.

    Love it

Oh come on, give your head a wobble mate.  If by some miracle, we managed to ‘do a Luton’ with this squad, we’d get absolutely rinsed every week in the Prem.

We aren’t even close to the quality needed for the step up, so some serious realism, rather than rose tints needed, I reckon!

Let's not try to go up until we have a team better than Leicester just incase we get beat in the prem,  heard it all now

What’s to be happy about then?

We’re going nowhere this season anyway, so we’ll just be keeping one of Burnley’s players match fit for them next season.  Would rather see us pick jp a young player from the lower leagues and bring them on for ourselves, rather than helping out what will be a Championship rival next year.

How can you possibly be happy with this situation??

How on earth can you just throw away the season for christ sakes we are 4 points off playoffs, there's plenty of points left I pray we start pushing on in the coming weeks so I can bring these comments back up.

If it is just a loan as being suggested then it's just pointless.

Pearson said we don't develop other teams players for them, which was right - we shouldn't. We're just bolstering a rivals squad next season given their player experience and game time they can't.

    If true anyway

I agree if we were a top prem club, loans are used by everyone, if everyone took this approach no1 would help develop our young players like vyner and pring

No simple answer to that, will very much depend on structure of loan fee, then transfer fee / contract length, and then accountancy treatment.  There is no real reason to do as a loan first per se.

If it’s around the rumoured £2.5m mark, then yes.  But don’t forget recruitment is a collective  effort so in terms of structuring the deal, share that credit undoubtedly with a combo of GM and TR.

Unless the recruitment isn't good it's then tinnions fault according to some!
