    Extra £2 POD

They won't publish the 24/25 prices till the STs have reached the end of the Advance stage I guess.

If the intention is to get more people pay per game then they need to keep the prices low. But if they're too low people won't buy STs..

Do you know, the most surprising and actually quite disappointing thing about those figures is that we only have 973 season ticket holders between the age of 19 and 24!!
That really doesn’t seem like a lot.
When I was a ‘young adult’ my Saturdays were 100% all about City. And there seemed to be lots of people of my age at that time.
This really doesn’t seem like very many, in what would usually be an age group likely to be the more ‘boisterous’ and likely to create atmosphere.

And they're totally disenchanted with the whole Manning/Pearson/Tinnion thing. My son, nephew their mates etc.

I was told it was at around 60% a month back, figured Sunday would have dropped that number.

Regardless, it's not great at all to look at, the club had to do something to address it

South stand includes the corner which is almost always over capacity.  So you need to factor that in.

There are a lot of under 19s under 22s etc in the stand as well. Some have had STs since being 5. This will drive a lot of  them away.  There will be a lot of unintended outcomes to this..

As far as I'm aware it's because of the number of people buying u12 Season Tickets in the South Stand and then not using them.

The South Stand has apparently been at less than 60% capacity this season despite being 'sold out' every match. This is the best way the club could think of to change that

No way has it been at less than 60%.

    Maybe last Sunday.

Easiest decision I’ve had to make in a long time - irrespective of the bull/lies being fed this season by our owner/board, a 20% increase on my 2 season tickets in the south stand for me and my daughter.

I hope those that wanted season ticket holders to be moved out of the south stand will now take up our empty seats.

As a former employee (before BS), season ticket holder for 25+ years and fan for many more years this is a very sad, but at the same time a ‘feeling of relief’ day, to detach me from this commitment and enable me to pick and choose what I do next

They think that they're moving you to the Lansdown but actually they're pushing you away..

  6. They haven't read the mood. Expect sales to be really poor. At least 3000 won't renew.  Can't see many new 'customers ' jumping at the chance to get a ST either.

I can see the home game on a Wednesday in November vs Blackburn looking particularly sparse. These games are a. Up against Champions League and b. All on TV anyway. Sod all potd there...

When people realise that there will also be more Saturday lunchtime/ Sunday lunchtime/ Friday night games as well it can only lead to people nor renewing.

Club have taken a hammer to an acorn to resolve issues in South Stand.

I don't care if I get shot down, that's fine, but I am sick of the negativity towards Tinnion.

I love the guy.  Pure and simple, he's a city legend and was in the team for my first four years as a fan and had a left peg I absolutely worshipped.

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about his football legacy, I think it's cruel and unfair the way he's treated on here, quite often as a figure of fun and with his intelligence and communication skills being mocked and belittled, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

He's not our enemy, he's our ambassador, he's a man who's gave most of his working career to our club, even though being a Geordie and having no previous affinity to the club.

We know he's not the best fit for the job he currently has, but he had the ambition to go for it, the same as his stint as a manager, he wasn't up to speed, but he had the ambition and drive to go for it.  I respect and love that.

It's not his fault if he's not right for the job, it's up the people above him if they feel he should be replaced.

Personally, I want him in charge of the academy, that's his best fit and hopefully he will be back there sometime in the future - back within his comfort zone.

But in the meantime, he will definitely be giving everything to the club and deserves much more respect and our support.

You don't have to love Pearson and hate Brian, you can appreciate them both!

And even though I don't agree with Manning being our gaffer, I can see the reasons why he was recruited.

Whether he's a legend depends on your age. If you saw John Atyeo play, it's laughable to call him.a legend. If you saw the likes of Ritchie, Gow etc it's silly. If you go back to the likes of Walsh/ Taylor/Newman it's possibly beginning to make sense.

The word legend is hugely overused.

They are out there. Mercury/13 just closed on their first acquisition - buying Como Women in Italy. They're looking to exclusively invest in women's teams. See here https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/2024/mar/12/mercury13-the-group-aiming-to-rethink-football-ownership-moving-the-goalposts

In England though I think there's a way to go before women's teams are viable investments independent of a men's team.

We're only just seeing marketing and rights deals that are tied exclusively to a women's team, and those are only with the biggest women's teams like Arsenal. It's quite a leap from there to having an entity that can stand on its own feet.

It's possible that the formation of "NewCo" to take ownership of the WSL moves is closer to that viability, but a lot will depend on the value of NewCo, and therefore that basically depends on the value of the broadcast deals that NewCo can do. Currently those remain tiny compared to the men's game.

So my view is that right now BCFC Women will stay with BCFC Men and will have common ownership. Could well change one day though.

This is another example of them missing opportunities.

£500k it would've taken to keep the women's team in the WSL.  Decent average crowd.  Clear growth.

Depends on the reason for the lie i suppose, and some things might be commercially sensitive, or confidential, such as the mccrorie thing, and was only discussed further when mccrorie was ready to discuss it, and that was a million pound signing where information was withheld. If murphy has some kind of ongoing situation that we missed/ glossed over, it doesnt paint anyone in a great light if we still went ahead with the deal, they might feel the lie/ withholding information is worth it, even if it eventually comes out!

It very much seems to me that lying is a norm for a number of City/Bristol Sport people.

A culture where one can question no matter your position in the hierarchy wouldn't have people lying as a matter of course.  But we don't have that do we?

I don't think Pearson lied about Mcrorie. Suspect he simply didn't answer or gave a very vague answer.

The lansdowns tried setting us up with ceo’s, but they couldnt get that right either.

They got it right then one left and the other one started telling them that they needed to do this and that so they got rid of him.

As I posted a few weeks ago, every club in the Championship has a CEO apart from us, Sheff Wed (in ownership turmoil) and bottom-of-the-table Rotherham.

My question to Steve and Jon would be, "what is it about the internal structure at City which makes it unique in not requiring a CEO?" Because that's the line they've taken. Apparently because we have Tinnion and Jon, we don't need a CEO. The internal structure is strong enough without one. I mean, WTF....

I feel embarrassed enough typing it out, christ knows how embarrassed they must feel.

Surely It's deliberate as he thinks it makes the club more attractive to a buyer (Less people to pay off).

Steve has thick skin and hasn't exactly been shy in telling us that it's his club.

Wish he would give the same message to LM

Lam made a point of making it public.  Pearson also made a 'discussion' with JL public.  They both know what they’re doing with the media.

Don't think Manning really does which leads me to think we'd not hear about it if it did happen.

Periodisation is a method of training where you break this down to 3 cycles, macro, meso and micro.
It’s about designing training plans to achieve goals but breaking it down into constituent parts to account for heavy workloads and lighter workloads.

Maybe some of you ought to register on the course to be able to get a grasp of this methodology. 😙

Good communicators use as little jargon as possible.  It is also a sign of properly understanding concepts.  If someone falls into jargon they're basically not mastering the subject. They're stuck in it.

    Yes yes yes.
That was the bit I forgot to add to my post earlier.
He regularly takes 4, 5 or 6 touches before moving the ball on.
Watch the best midfielders in this division, it’s all 1 or 2 touch. Occasionally 3.
Generally the best CM’s in this league take 1 touch to control it and manoeuvre the ball where they want it, and the 2nd touch to pass. It keeps the play uptempo.
TGH slows the game down like no CM I’ve seen before. When he does the 1 and 2 touch stuff he’s fine, but more often than not it’s 4,5 or 6 touches.
It bugs the bloody hell out of me!

Basic coaching message 3 touch football. Control it  manipulate it, pass it.

To be fair, no manager in Bristol City's history has been handed such a poisoned chalice (i.e. being brought in following an unpopular sacking). That's amplified his shortcomings massively.

And to be fair, many people would've stayed away today due to it being a lunchtime kickoff on Mother's Day.

Also kids football. Kick off time couldn't have been worse. Games tend to either be 10 30am or 2pm.

Can someone please explain what is happening regarding television next season. If this has already been discussed under another topic, then please can you let me know the topic title.

    Thanks

TV deal has all non Saturday games live.  Boxing Day, evenings etc

Of the 34 weekend games, 1st games and last day games are all live. That leaves 5 of 12 each weekend live for the season.

One thing they've then said is that all games will be rearranged way in advance. So we'll know in June all the kick offs up till New Year.  Half our games will be on TV. Another 4 or 5 will probably be moved from 3pm Saturday to Friday, Saturday early, or Sunday early

One positive is that we will know all TV matches (and I presume kick off times) to early Jan ‘before the start of the season’. It would be helpful if they could set this in stone as soon as the fixtures are announced in June.

    “Increased notice for fans

With the substantial increase in the number of live matches, Sky Sports and the EFL will introduce a new commitment for clubs and fans which will provide longer notice periods on TV selections. The defined notice periods will enable clubs and fans to plan further in advance and this will include the placement of all live matches selected for broadcast for the period to FA Cup third round before the start of the season. Greater parity in the number of times that clubs are selected for TV coverage is also guaranteed.”

They do exactly this for Rugby. All dates were published with fixtures up to mid January.  Gives people opportunity to request shift patterns etc or make alternative arrangements etc

Conversation earlier, if the rumours are true that we will only have 5/8 home games on a Saturday at 3pm, I ay well not bother to renew , what's the point ?

    5 of each weekend's matches won't be 3pm.

Just hope that we are on Fridays. Sunday at lunchtime is awful

  20. So win 2 games, everything is wonderful, lose 4 in a row and its 'dropped off a little bit'.

That there is relegation form . 6 points from 6 games. But when we played well there's a really good feeling. An observation he repeated.

He should only release written  statements.

DM me Brian. For a small fee I'll write something coherent. Something that might begin to build some trust with the large proportion of fans who don't buy your bullshit.
