  1. I mean Tommy has already thanked him publicly and being as they all went out and played their heart out for him I'd say they like him. I've lost count of how many managers I've seen leave this club because the players have given up on the manager, no sign of that here, in fact I'd say this is one of the hardest fighting teams I've seen since I was a teenager.
  2. A lot of people saying this but honestly, I think the players would be more than understanding of fans refusing to turn up due to the owners. I think most of the players will be as pissed off as we are.

    He’s gone.

This is the perfect post to sum up how I feel upon hearing the news. I've been supporting this club for 35 years, this year they've just reached an all-time level of stupidity! I've been very understanding about the wage cap we seem to have implemented, I have defended that decision to try and get the club running without the constant financial support of Steve Lansdown and I have said numerous times that I think the players finally had a manager they were willing to fight for. Yesterday we put out a team that was severely lacking and yet every one of them fought very hard and did their best, we lost the game 2-0 in a manner where with a bit of luck we could have got a point despite having a stupid level of injuries. I don't remember the last time we put out such a weak team and still looked like we wanted to play, that was down to Nigel Pearson and the respect the players have for him. I read the statement: This statement is just utter sh*t! "The best possible chance of success"?! I genuinely wish I could ask the Bristol City board, "Who wants to take on a job where the club appears to have a wage cap that is maxed out, refused to fund further signings, has one of the most injury-ravaged squads in the league where the players genuinely liked the previous manager?". I just can't fathom any manager with a good reputation and experience looking at this job and saying "I want that job", I also can't see any up and coming manager wanting the job either as he'll have to start with no ability to make chances to the starting line up because we have so many players out it practically picks itself! We could literally hire anyone and the only impact they can offer right now is to be encouraging to players who have just lost a manager they enjoy playing for. I am not one for knee-jerk reactions so I've had a sit and think about the situation and tried to look at it with reason but I just don't see any positives in this decision, it's the wrong time, the fans finally were backing a manager even in the hard times and they've even done it after losing to Cardiff, essentially giving a rival club the chance to piss off our fans, it's a bad decision on so many levels that I've genuinely considered just giving football a break for a long time. I feel like the people running this club don't like having a manager with a spine and who is willing to tell them that they know best, we obviously want a yes man and therein is the issue, the fans will never all get behind a yes man, they may find someone that splits the fans with some liking him and some not but being as so many of our fans already resent Lansdown this just further creates that distance and resentment. Whoever comes in to replace Nigel is just going to be stepping into a poisoned position where they are destined to fail, I genuinely feel sorry for them and this no longer feels like the club I grew up loving, it doesn't have any real connection to it's fans and for the one thing that was giving many fans hope has just been taken away from them.
  4. I mean the smaller squad is Pearsons choice, he said a while back that he'd rather have a smaller squad of players he wants than having players who won't add quality. I think we've always pushed our wages further than we could afford and SL has picked up the bill or we've been forced to sell multiple quality players to fund new ones coming in. I feel like SL has essentially said "I can't bail the team out forever", I mean in his defence he's been doing it for so long now where he "tops up the finances" so to speak and we've still not got to the Premier League so sooner or later I suppose he had to say "I'm not doing this forever".
  5. Cornick unlucky there with that flick attempt, got pushed as the ball was coming but that pass to Bell from Mehmeti was inch-perfect.
  6. Agreed but our let down is we keep trying to play long passes for our players to run onto but they are all way overhit meaning we just give the ball away. Need to be a bit smarter with our possession/passing choices.
  7. Crazy that Dickie got booked but Meite going in late on Sykes wasn't a yellow...
  8. When you see hussle and dribbling like that knowing Sykes is being pushed back as a full back it's so frustrating, he looks scary taking the Cardiff players on in those situations.
  9. Unlucky from Cornick there, had a lot to do but done really well.
  10. I mean with our squad he may actually be a legit option even at his age >.<
  11. I love how they're interviewing our kitman Scotty and what's he wearing.... it's not O'Neills, it's hummel training wear. Apparently, even the kitman can't get the latest stuff, or just doesn't want to
  12. The worst part about the injury situation is their fans are very aware of it so I won't be surprised to hear them being very loud, especially with fat Tomlin there to rile them up and their good form and good start this season. It's definitely going to be a hard atmosphere and with a team that's far from it's strongest my hope is that the lads who do play today won't be disheartened but instead will see it as a chance to make their case to be in the team. If I was Nige I'd be saying "Look, just because you're in the team due to injuries that doesn't mean you'll be staying in the team if you don't perform, it's your chance to make a statement as to why you should be starting, and even get yourself noticed". I think despite the injuries we could cause an upset if the players are up for it.
  13. I actually think we did ok all things considered. I mean the winning goal was unfortunate, a real nightmare shot as Max had planted his inside foot and couldn't get down fast enough. Never should be conceding those but the defence didn't help as the pressure built. The goal aside I think we gave a good go at them and when you consider they're 10 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss and obviously a very good team we had our moments. With so many players out injured or having just come back from injury, a busy schedule and so on I don't think that was as bad as it feels right now.
  14. I think TGH looks like a quality player, be interested to see what the deal is to make that permanent, he's got a great pass on him, seems comfy in most positions and delivers great balls from set pieces, something we miss when he's not on the pitch.
  15. It's those little things that Ipswich do so well that we seem to lack, like Weimann just made a run into a good position but Knight was too slow to see it and then the pass was gone, in the same situation with Ipswich attacking they're on the same wavelength and the pass is made. It's strange that we still don't have those natural partnerships on the pitch where certain players just know what the other is going to do.
  16. I mean whilst it's frustrating I kind of understand it when I look at it from his point of view, he's invested an insane amount of money and time into the club and all he gets for it is abuse. Rugby lot seem to appreciate him, which one would you warm to? This is no defence of him, but when you stop looking at him as a Bristol City fan and start looking at him from a neutral point he's done a lot of good and pretty much seems to be hated for it, I can imagine at his age he's over being hated when he can enjoy something else where he isn't.
  17. Exactly this, we've had our moments but you can see the difference in quality and they look very composed and we look panicked.
  18. No, but making memes mugging him off is pretty much as mocking as it gets. You simply say it's his fault to own.
  19. Another one of those ones where we keep trying to pass out and it ends up coming back to bite us in the ass, decision making in those situations seem to cost us a fair bit, be better to put our foot through it and try to push up.
  20. The issue with the shot at Max was it was low, fast and he'd already prepared to dive so couldn't put his foot out and couldn't get down low quick enough with his hand. It's unfortunate but it's still his mistake to own. Don't think it helps seeing our fans seem to enjoy mocking him though, bit stupid really when you consider we have no replacement to give him competition, why mock your keeper and knock his confidence further?
  21. No defending Max there, absolutely awful reaction to that shot. Very awkward as it was low and close but he should have been using his foot there.
  22. A lot of energy for sure, could become a problem as the game goes on and we get tired.
  23. Brain fart moment, of course. I just woke up from a nap ready for the game
  24. Wait is that King at CB? What is wrong with Pring and Roberts at LB? King at CB vs Ipswich is a concern.
  25. The thing that's bothering me about this is didn't we recruit new staff that were supposed to prevent us getting into a situation like this again? What's going on that causes so many injuries? We seem to want to play a high press, high energy type of football but I'm starting to think the players just aren't capable if this is the result, I mean we're 3 injuries away from a starting 11 at this point.
