  1. Hope Burns gets on. Time to get down the Gate. Let's have a thumping home win Cotterill. COME ON CITY, STUFF ROTHERHAM.
  2. Glad I wasn't involved in this match thread, some dreadful moaners on here today. City did what they had to do all game, were up for the battle from the start, created lots of chances and deserved to win by several more goals. Flint and Jet were outstanding, Baldock, Marvin and Joe Bryan played really well, and only perhaps Taylor and Wagstaff were underpar. A good solid performance by City against a very physical team on a sloping, rutted pitch ideal for providing a cup upset. Well done Cotterill too, he represented City with humility, enthusiasm and good humour today. Good 3rd round draw as well - Watford are beatable at AG, and that's exactly the sort of draw we're looking for at this stage.
  3. The Belford family seem remarkably confident. Nine of the Tamwoth starting 11 over 6ft. COME ON CITY, GET STUCK IN, AND STUFF 'EM.
  4. Marvin the first City player to be shown, all the players ambling in a bit. 1 in 4 gradient on the pitch.
  5. We need Marvin today for the physical battle. Once that's, hopefully, been fought and won it would be no surprise if Pack replaced Marvin for the last 20 minutes or so.
  6. He did when he was injured a year or two back. He was pretty hopeless imo.
  7. No idea, but he seems to be a permanent fixture. Bring back Paul Cheesley.
  8. Not disputing Jet, but by and large they're here because City are in the top 3 best payers in this division. Now they need to get on with earning their wages whether they liked SO'D or not. No idea what you're talking about with your second sentence.
  9. No idea whether he was popular or not, most of the players came for the high wages at this level, nothing else. Couldn't care less if they're annoyed either. Bristol City pay their wages and their duty is to the club and the fans to put 100% in every match.
  10. Hoskins said a few minutes ago the game was 'petering out towards half time'. How about, 'City storming forward in search of the equaliser.'
  11. Being out in the wilds all day I didn't hear the news until 9.30 last night so thought I would leave my considered reaction until today. I said the other day I thought the board had made an irrevocable decision to keep SO'D, whatever happened, and I'm very surprised and quite relieved that I was wrong. He was an absolutely dreadful manager for BCFC who took us down in pathetic fashion last season and was on course to do the same again. I'm very surprised so many are up in arms about his removal, his record is insupportable and there's no guarantee whatsoever City were going to improve enough under him to stay up. O'Driscoll wasn't up for the fight last season and the club absolutely could not afford a second ignominious relegation under his uninspirational leadership. The right decision has been made imo, but this can only be confirmed by making the right appointment next. I suspect this is the over riding concern of most SO'D supporters, rather than the act of removing the man himself, because nobody can honestly say he was anything but an extremely disappointing failure at this club.
  12. Brilliant, shows what this forum can do. I'm sure it could link up alot more fans if there was some sort of permanent car sharing thread.
  13. I find it interesting that, as a relative local, I'm willing to walk those 15-20 minutes to the ground but I can't ever remember seeing a carload of (out of town?) City fans park up in my road to do the same. I understand some fans are elderly or need to park close to the ground for other reasons, but in most cases it's not really far to walk from available spaces. It seems some who drive to matches simply expect to be able to park unrealistically very close to the ground. Either way, there are still areas that provide a much quicker and less stressful getaway than the horrendous prospect of queuing to get out of a massive car park for an hour or so like we hear of at some other grounds where that facility is available.
  14. Sounds like you don't know the local area too well Bat. As I say there are plenty of parking spaces available within 15 -20 minutes walk of AG. All in favour of P&R, rail shuttles etc. as an alternative but there's really no necessity for a huge car park. By the way there will be parking spaces in the zoned areas, my road - chock - a - block all week - is often half empty at weekends when there are no commuters filling it up.
  15. There are PL glory hunters in Bristol for sure, but many Bristol kids grow up supporting, and wearing the shirts of, the teams of their non Bristolian fathers who are constantly relocated to Bristol from all over the country. I remember seeing a news story about Newcastle Utd where their local TV station went into Newcastle town centre to interview 6 people at random to ask them their opinions of recent goings on at the club. Five of them (of all ages and genders) turned out to be supporters of NUFC who were able to give in depth answers, the other was a visitor to the CIty. Basically it seems just about everyone in the city grew up there and supports Newcastle. You wouldn't find Man.Utd or Liverpool shirts up there whichever division Newcastle were in - the support for the local club is ingrained through the generations. If you tried that with 6 random people in Bristol city centre you'd be lucky to find a single born and bred Bristolian, let alone one who was interested in either of the local clubs. We may have a big population in Bristol but it is an extremely cosmopolitan and transient one. There will never be 30-40,000 Bristolians who want to watch Bristol City every week, even in the PL. A stadium of that size would simply be providing extra space for neutrals and Bristolian supporters of the opposition. There would also have to be the added intention of giving huge allocations to the away team in order to fill the stadium as much as possible, along with our perhaps 20k max.regulars. Doesn't sound to me like an ideal way to support your local club when we might be close to being outnumbered by non Bristol City fans at our home ground every week. We've never in our history needed a 30-40k stadium on anything like a regular basis, less so than ever in 2013 when the make up of the population of Bristol has altered so much.
  16. If the redevelopment of AG gets the go ahead, and the dreadful spectre of Ashton Gate being obliterated and built on is lifted, I suspect your spirits will soar. Hope so, anyway, on both counts.
  17. It's been stated many times ( no, not just by me!) and this has been gone through on this forum on numerous occasions. In fact at a recent Fans Parliament meeting MG - Martin Griffiths? - stated that 'AG can produce as much income as a new stadium at Ashton Vale' .http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/154642-ashton-vale-v-ashton-gate/ As for what SL would think of a 20% drop in his private income, well perhaps he'd factor it against the 52m saved by redeveloping AG instead of building Ashton Vale.
  18. Dreadful 2nd half by the sound of it.....
  19. Pack yellow carded. Free kick to Tranmere in dangerous position.
  20. Tranmere effort hooked off the line by Flint. Cunninngham can't find Baldock in space in the box. Eventually Baldock shot beaten away by Tranmere keeper.
  21. Should be Burns, and harder to make about 4 spelling mistakes too.
