  1. Seemingly a statement by Bury- or is it Dale- too. https://www.buryfc.co.uk/news/2019/september/request-to-our-former-fellow-clubs/ Plus, wasn't so aware, but a rescue board- includes a signed statement from Steve Dale that he intends to sell the club. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49776759
  2. You might have a chance here- unless the weather wins. Sometimes a big last wicket stand can swing momentum for a side and especially the 2 bowlers who put it together- let's hope so here!
  3. Harmer has 5/85 but also of interest is Cook has 4/26 and he isn't a spinner is he? Bound to be a fair bit of life in the pitch, at this time of year especially- you've got some hope yet, weather notwithstanding.
  4. ?️ ?️ No more play at Durham for the day!
  5. My only question on a contrived result. Glamorgan will be desperate and therefore would accept anything to chase, knowing only a win would do? Don't see why Durham would offer them anything better than an extremely tough and unlikely 4th Innings challenge- a draw no good, only a win would do for Glamorgan so they'd accept anything surely. In 2005 I vaguely remember it causing some controversy or ill feeling but Kent accepted 420 in 70 overs in the 4th Innings (assuming it was still 96 in a day?) in a rain affected game vs Notts. Suffice to say they were not successful! Indeed cricinfo search confirms it was a key game in the title race. In other words, if Durham offered Glamorgan I don't know, 400 in 2 sessions- well take it or leave it, what choice do they have other than to try? They can try but we all know they ain't getting that!
  6. That's pretty unlike him tbh, his attention to detail usually a lot better!
  7. City related (for a change). About to watch/listen to it now. Up there certainly I'd say, in this category. Some praise for Webster! One minor error referring to Lansdown as Steve Hargraves- mixed those 2 up but rest of this sounds about right.
  8. Durham finish on 197/6. A lot of rain forecast on Days 2 and 4... Clearly rain is not satisfactory but is part of the game- I'd sooner we beat Northants and get 2nd so we can hold our own against any promotion chasing side, as the bulk of seasons, 2 have gone up, but if rain here and Durham seals it I'm not complaining!
  9. Play abandoned for thje day at Bristol too. 80/6 after around 29-30 overs. Up at Durham, they (Durham) 161/5 in the 58th.
  10. Good listen! It covers the facts but breaks them down quite well. Part 1 and Part 2 about Fulham- seems to cover Huddersfield 2. Part 2 about Stoke, seems to also cover Swansea and West Brom. Of those last 2, I think Stoke are surely heading for choppy FFP waters as it stands. Interesting read as well, Mike Thornton! https://www.mikethornton.xyz/why-the-efl-stadium-sale-rule-is-flawed/
  11. Is Selvey still salty? Wonder if he thinks the collusion his side to get a result in the title race v Yorkshire was shocking too? Not a mention. ?
  12. Would be extremely undeserved too, given our surge- our positive cricket in recent months. I just had a horrible feeling that the season went on a week too long- actually surprised at how nice September has been, but it wouldn't have lasted indefinitely in the month.
  13. 5 down!! My concern here now is that the weather denies us but is reasonable at Durham- ie we only draw and Glamorgan win with sufficent bonus points- the most Gloucs way to lose promotion? For Somerset- a result track may well help, but weather again? Or what would be sods law is if they win- but the pitch deemed inadequate and points off, Essex win- but then again given how the title was won by Middlesex a few years ago through a contrivance, the ECB can't be doing that!! Can't have a title decided through a contrived declaration with a 3rd party missing out and then dock that same third team points potentially for a pitch. CAS job. That would be the singular most Gloucs and Somerset ways to miss out respectively.
  14. Thanks, interesting stuff. So would this be something like price paid divided by length of lease=rent? Or is it more complex than this- I've always thought commercial rental yield 4-5% but again that could be oversimplified by me. AFAIK the new roof was not included but lots of different sources seem to say different things- Mel Morris said new roof factored in and you could add another £100m onto it which seems nuts yet...no open market doesn't help- the method could be quite important? Agreed- even if the rent is right, then the fee paid seems much too low, or if the fee is broadly correct, then the rent should be increased by a factor of 3-4? Read online in varied places 5% but again football stadia pretty specialised. Agreed- I wonder if they could have made it the case that a profit is only applicable if the stadium is being sold ie to reinvest into the club and building a new one, or if the stadium is being sold and leased back to a bona fide 3rd party. They should have put in the T&C that it needs to be done and dusted liaising with the EFL, ie the EFL appoint a valuer, not the club. Thanks @Coppello looking forward to it. Incidentally, saw on Twitter that Derby have released a statement on it. It however looks alright from a procedural perspective ie accounting period date to transaction date, the price is the key issue here, along with Aston Villa and I assume Reading. Sheffield Wednesday OTOH have a myriad of questions against their sale and leaseback IMO! https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2019/09/club-statement-5
  15. Glamorgan win. Down to the wire it is then- albeit favourites from here. Part of me wants a nice comfy, convenient outcome- part of me wants to roll the dice and push for 2nd as some of our cricket in recent times has been really positive! This game could've sealed the deal but all teams/fans I guess have games we look back on. https://www.wisden.com/matches/scorecard/199715/glamorgan-v-gloucestershire-at-newport-specsavers-county-championship-14-17-may-2019 We bat again here and we probably win. Probably.
  16. I agree. No need to change the system, but yeah one too many tournaments at this time. Think the pitches could do with some improvement at times however- you can get fairly hard ones for bowlers abroad but they seem to be getting more bowler friendly again in a number of places. Still overplaying has been a bit of an issue, I remember in 2007 season I think it was, when Gloucestershire played 2 4 day games back to back- one at Gloucester then overnight up to Derby- think in that period it was 10 days of cricket out of 12 or something, which didn't even account for all the travel. Regardless of that anomaly, 4 tournaments is one too many I feel.
  17. Agnew and Bayliss have both laid out their blueprints for us at international level, and both have called for a reduction to the number of counties. Unsure of the detail of Bayliss's proposals but Agnew's blueprint was basically one division, 12 teams. ? Edit- Bayliss reckons 10 the magic number. Where the latter might have some validity to his point though is that pitches could be improved. Undoubtedly English conditions are pretty unique, this is both a strength and a weakness.
  18. As expected, Durham lose. I believe Glamorgan will win though and it could be a nervy final game. They'll be 16 behind us, away to suddenly out of the running Durham. Still it's in our own hands- I'd much rather be in our position than Glamorgan's! Do we produce a road or a result track next week? We deserve promotion with some of our form, our positive brand of cricket in recent months IMO.
  19. Sussex LOSE! Basically gone in terms of promotion, can't catch us basically and Northants once they complete. Durham 8 down- looking all over for them too given they are chasing around 400. That rules them out. Only slight annoyance then, Glamorgan are away to Durham on last day- and that will now be a dead rubber for Durham, hope they don't send out the kids etc. Glamorgan- barring rain- will surely beat Leicestershire. Most likely will be 16 behind us so still the outsiders.
  20. Good news on the tiebreaking front. According to Cricinfo it's most wins- which if level on points simplifies as you will have won 10 and Essex 9. Unless it's changed to fewest losses taking precedence as this was written a few years ago. Always assumed it was most wins followed by least losses anyway. This tweet also seems to suggest. You need to tbh, need to create a result wicket one way or the other- drawing will be no good- just have to go all in for it.
  21. Genuinely thought you had a shot there- 86/0 and scoring at a fair clip, over 4 an over, even 91/1 not so terrible... Barring weather you will be 12 points behind Essex. Presumably if you win next week you will obtain bowling bonus points in the process, dunno your margin for error. As for us, looks like Sussex will be losing and so too will Durham...but I can't see Leicestershire chasing 424 at Glamorgan or batting 113 overs to save the game. Forgot to add- best of luck v Essex next week- hope to make it a West Country Double- newly promoted Gloucs v the team who became champions for the first time Somerset would have a great ring! At Headingley, Stevens is on ?! Made that double century from 39/5 and in the 4th Innings he has 3/6!
  22. On a general note, decent read. https://www.thetotallyfootballshow.com/feature/why-are-football-league-clubs-selling-their-grounds-to-their-owners/ Was interesting as well to note the following paragraph: As we know about the Times report into the EFL investigation/independent valuations. I wonder which club(s)? ? Could well be to placate. Interesting. So you can basically it seems claim and value on the basis that it will be sold for commercial purposes but continue to play in and lease it back. Which valuation method would this be- DRC, simple RC or something else? Is there no valuation mechanism to assess Fair Market Value in continued current use? That one would seem/feel appropriate in this instance.
  23. Haha, so am I to an extent- I'm not a qualified accountant but I am good with numbers and football clubs creativity in this dept has increased my interest in it- at least football wise!
  24. Wow- won it within the first hour or so, with 0 wickets lost between the start and the winning! Assumed given yesterday it could've been quite awkward. Well done Gloucs! Still taking it one game at a time, just one.
  25. One more general note. This was dated July 4th 2019 this thread, this post. https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/283140-ground-sale-to-go-through-shortly/ Getting print screens of time and date not so easy but if it was application lodged around that time, Land Registry 28th June 2019, Accounts signed June 21st 2019 and June 20th 2019, accounts due on April 30th 2019 and originally February 28th 2019, Reporting Period to July 31st 2018 and originally May 31st 2018, baffled by the EFL waving this through at the time. Lastly! This was July 4th so same day and yet still listed at Land Registry as owned by SWFC. I know it went through eventually but surely it should have appeared in 2018/19 accounts?? @Davefevs @downendcity any thoughts on how this all fits in, overlaps? One more bit of corroborating- and this time it's dated which helps.
