Will we ever learn??? -
No one will be able to explain it. It's inexplicable recently. Only Pearson can know why. Pearson need to be careful, since looking on today's tactics and decisions (including insistence with Martin), one might come to the conclusion that the root cause of our poor performance was not the players at all.
-
That was the ref. Not to excuse fans' behavior, but an appalling ref.
-
He's been keeping Semenyo and Wells out of the team. Think about that.
-
Aint good enough to warrant a guaranteed place in the team. Now 1-1.

Head and shoulders above the rest

Lots of talk about managers and that makes sense; performances have worsened appreciably in the last 6 games or so. However, we are currently without: Atkinson Baker James King Williams Semenyo That's a lot of core players. In the what happens next, hopefully some if not all will return to fitness and the team. Performances and results will improve. Shambles yesterday yes, but not the end of our season either.

Coventry City away match day thread

Time for the fans to be less kind to team and manager. This side needs a rocket up the proverbial. Maybe that will provoke some response. It seems we're in that familiar phase where it doesn't matter the oppositon, City will contrive to lose. -
Back then our strikers were labelled 'weapons of mass destruction' by some envious opposition manager, if my memory serves. I think Lita may have been part of that talented group too. If only we had their sort among the squad now.

Barnsley at home match day thread

It was exactly that. We've played for 4mins here, scored 2 and could have been 3. Barnsley very poor and game for the taking... Can we build on those 4 mins second half? -

Very difficult to defend this terrible football. We're getting worse. Hopefully they'll wake up soon. A loss today and the tide will turn. -

Good idea, shut down the board for 24hrs I suggest. -
And it was impossible to read the black numbers on the backs of those green shirts too.

The players we have at the moment favour a 3 at the back formation with wingbacks. With Kalas, Baker and Atkinson we have our 3 best defenders. Then we have limited choices as wing backs but at least have some choice. If we are looking for fullbacks, we have Tanner. We had Pring on the other side of a four, for me that's too little experience and we weren't solid. I was relatively pleased with Dasilva second half, but he lacks that physicality we need in a four.

Whilst I understand the sentiment, there was nothing as good as 'average' on show from city today.
-
I thought it was quite ironic that our team engaged in a huddle before kickoff, but during the game itself it was very clear there was little to no communication going on. That's exactly the kind of thing that went on last season and one of the things you'd expect to have been sorted out by now. In fairness, in recent games I haven't noticed it, but as you say, today it was very conspicuous.

I hope we don't play any worse to be honest. -

Where to start on first half performance? A back four with Pring and Tanner is a little inexperienced, but they get zero help from in front. Team unable to put two passes together. No Atkinson and Williams goes off. That's before we start thinking about the goals... that second goal beggars belief. We had a throw in into their box, with 45mins gone - and we somehow concede before the halftime whistle. I'll need to see it again to assure myself it wasn't as bad as I'd thought. Until then, shocking. -

Ageed. It was what happened in the 2nd half of the 2nd half. As per some other comments, Millwall were absolutely there for the taking. Missed opportunity. -

Poor, poor performance in the 2nd half. Possibly worst half of the season so far. Let's hope we're not forced to play that finishing eleven again this season. -

It's not a midfield nor an eleven that we'd want to see again. I get that we've had injuries and especially disappointing since we were in the ascendency. Plenty to learn from. -

Surprised Bakinson retained his place this evening. We looked better on Saturday after he went off. Not sure he'll be starting again any time soon.
