Yes your correct about league starts but you have conveniently left out cup games to put across your point. He made 32 starts for us last season (league and cup) and in previous seasons with Hibs he started 28 games and 27 (league and cup) so your points about: (cut) Eh? Surely you can see, regardless of cup games, starting only 16 of 38 league games [with 16 sub appearances] means he quite simply probably didn't do a lot for 28 games of the season. He may have come on in the 2nd minute of each of his 16 sub appearances or he may've come on in the 88th. In the end I'd say you're both valid to an extent. Everyone wins.
