Never to the dark side
Just looking back (and forwards) from the last few weeks The police in our next of the woods say we don't want the match against Plymouth being played on a bank holiday (due to costs) Match transferred to Tuesday cos its cheaper Yorkshire police transfer match against Barnsley from saturday(cheap day) to a sunday (expensive day) Yes I know its the miners strike anniversy But how many matches that City have had at home have you actually seen a large police presence? It seems any team at home in the police yorkshire area has a police attendance Which includes one of the least attended team in the 2nd division (chesterfield) who remembers the 1-1 draw this season? Uncle Ern
Chesterfield was just like watching The Bill :PC_Plod:
Nogbad the Bad
And it's in Derbyshire, still Chesterfield's one of those "little" clubs with quite a high thug element.
gazza1982
Have you thought it could be the reputation of our fans?
Guest WillsbridgeRed
There's a history between us and Chesterfield, hence the police overkill. As for Barnsly, different forces have different approaches. A&S got it spot on for Plymouth even if the bunch of (£$(£$^ have cost us the EE
Guest greatwhite
apparantly according to malaggro the day has been changed due to some kind of march the northerners are having in respect to the miners strike years back - "by gum" and "in pit" come to mind
Never to the dark side
Hi Nogbad the bad sorry about my poor geography Am I allowed to change my posting as the half hour time limit is not yet up? Considering how close South yorkshire is to Chesterfield (in Derbyshire) I bet any money that some of the SY police are on duty at Chesterfield home matches By the way any one know of a sight that shows a colourfull county map of the U.K. that use to be on all geography classroom walls when I was at at school? Don't be daft, Ted, i'm just being picky. You could well be right about the police deployment. I remember a big story last season how a large group of Chesterfield fans were jailed after a particularly vicious encounter with Cardiff fans. And more to the point, Rovers had trouble at Barnsley in the Cup a couple of years back didn't they? Our reputation might not be too good in Yorks. after ther Wednesday game but i think as already posted this is all down to the miner's parade. Hopefully City will put on unlimited coaches (like the 40+ at QPR in the 70's) to enable City fans to get there en masse as the railway on that Sunday does not sound good. 22A
Geog point. Although Cheaterfield is in Derbs, it is near the S Yorks border and Sheffield is their nearest city. Indeed, a few years ago, their shirt sponsors were a Sheffield Hospital!
bucksred
It could be down to Avon & Somerset plod being deployed oop norf during the strike. anyways up, this anniversary is taken serious by ex miners and Scargill and his leftie mates. Trouble is likely I would think, so we got moved to give plod some numbers to deal with any.
