He's just signed a new contract and i thought Watford didn't have any money? Hopefully they'll settle for somebody already out of work like Dowie

The things is city have so many links with watford as in millen johnson junior and pete johnson, yes the five year contract will hopefully kept them away!

But seeing the way johnson has been at few homes games in the last couple of weeks and the stick lee johnson has been getting I'm hoping its not changed johnsons mind on being here!

Just hope curbishley is the better option!

Watford? Pfft... I would be seriously surprised and disapointed if he has any desire whatsoever to go back to that stinkng crud hole.

for financial reason? no

footballing reason?

ambition? no

available money? no

fans? '**** off!

there is no LOGICAL reason only that he was there once as a youth coach...big hairy smegging deal, people should quit living in the past.

A Premier League club maybe or a series A club, but Watford gets the lols :rofl2br:

when GJ left Yeovil he said in an interview there was only ever 2 clubs he would have left for, one was us and he didnt name the other but from his past links etc it is quite obviously Watford. that was years ago so can only hope he wont want to leave

FFS, if he wants to go then he will.

Can't believe people actually are stating they are worried by something like this.

Managers, players and coaching staff come and go almost annually at a majority of the clubs around the world and still these clubs go on; some even better themselves!

He actually isn't the messiah despite the deluded opinion on here, he does however have a very naughty boy.

for a start contracts aint worth the paper their written on, and am i correct in thinking Watford get their 2nd parachute payment this season?

Watford are in such a bad finacial state all there parachute payment will go on there debts hense why they havnt actually gone out and bought big money players since there relagation. As GJ has just signed a new 5 year deal we would be entiled to quite a heafty compensation package (more than Watford can afford) i would presume.

Gj is going no were.

How will he accomodate LJ in a midfield that has Smith and O'Toole?

4-5-1 or LJ as striker I guess.

:innocent06:

why does every topic become about LJ? he has absolutely nothing to do with this topic

They wouldnt be able to pay the compensation to get GJ. They will go for a cheaper option Dowie, Curbishley someone like that who is out of work.

Sir Elton has already been making noises to step back in. As long as GJ can hold a verse and not show his arse in Burtons window, I think he will be in...... :rofl2br:

Hoofroyd only signed a new 3 year contract in May 2007 so it will no doubt cost Watford plenty to pay him off before they even consider paying a "transfer fee" for a new manager.

maybe! but if GJ gets fed up and resigns as city boss how do we stand there?

Fair question. I guess that we would retain the contractual right to stop him managing elsewhere without due compensation.

true but thats just it know one knows the ins and outs of this contract and for all we know there could be get out clauses

added and only steve lansdown and gary johnsons knows for sure, one thing is the way he has got stick at city i would not

be surprised if his head is not turned by watford.

Then GJ will need to buy out his 5 yr contract, you just don't resign after you signed a new deal unless you're a bit of a thick pleb and have no understanding of the term 'contract'

GJ is not thick or a pleb, Whooshford will have to pay SL £2.5m to begin talks i would hazard a guess. But they won't, they'll go for some random Premier League has been, or an x manu player, they seem to be popular among the dumbass twatty football chairman, what's Frank Stapleton up to these day?

Charlton? As pardew will be out soon.

London,

big club,

money? (Not sure)

team arent bad.

My worry is when he does go, because he will eventually, he will probably sign marv and johnson as he usuall does so we will have a first choice of skuse and noble :noexpression:

Long live KING GJ :englandsmile4wf:

If Gary does decide he wants to go to Watford then Curbishley is my choice to replace him,if he can do with us what he achieved at Charlton, who were in a similar postion to us when he joined them that'd be great, also I have a lot of time for Alan he's a very honest down tio earth guy.

Mind you if Pardew gets the boot from Charlton, the writing's on the wall for him.

GJ is almost certain to be approached by Watford

Says who?

The minute i heard he had left Watford and i typed otib into the address bar i knew the first thread i would see would be about this. It has happened every single time someone has left a club.

But this time it is different. GJ has links with Watford and it would be a dream of his to manage them. Plus everyone seems to be on his and his sons back lately I expect him to be there manager by the weekend.

The team that GJ actually supported as a boy was Fulham. There may be a few old links with them (Watford) from earlier in his career but thats about it.

Very well said!! excellent.......what makes me laugh though is that if he did go and the club brought someone in fairly high profile and did well and got us to the prem.........all these gloom merchants would be saying thank god we got rid of that short little bald bloke what was his name??

Managers come and go and as far as I'm concerned if he wishes to go after commiting to us for the next 5 years....then let he go....not a man of his word???

For all we know he could have a clause saying eh be allowed to talk to Watford if they came in for him. We just don't know what is in that contract.

I've bit my tongue over all this LJ shit but that comment has pissed me right off. LJ is a average Championship player playing for a average Championship side. LJ would rip league two apart.

Thanks Gary for the promotion and a fantastic season last year. Will miss you. Sorry some idiots have drove you out of this club.

:disapointed2se: That is really not the case; the ONLY person to drive GJ out of here will be GJ; managers must also take stick as well as praise, its what they are paid for.

From today's Watford Observer....

Watford board facing no confidence vote

10:12am Monday 3rd November 2008

By Anthony Matthews

Watford's board is to face a vote of no confidence and a demand for the immediate resignation of its three directors - chairman Graham Simpson, chief executive Mark Ashton and Andrew Wilson - after a date for the emergency general meeting was confirmed to the Stock Exchange this morning.

The resolution has been tabled by Valley Grown Salads, the company of former Hornets directors Jimmy and Vince Russo, and it will be discussed at the meeting on Monday, December 1 at 11am at Vicarage Road Stadium.

However, the brothers are unlikely to get their wish because the board has received "irrevocable undertakings" from shareholders representing 54 per cent of Watford's parent company, Watford Leisure Plc, to vote against the resolution.

Other matters the brothers intend to raise include Watford's current financial position and directors' salaries for this season and the previous two.

In a letter to shareholders, the chairman also confirmed the club's annual general meeting will be held at the same time because "the board sees no benefit in going to the expense of holding a separate general meeting so soon before the AGM at which these issues could have been raised but we are nonetheless obliged, in accordance with the requirements placed upon us by statute, to do so".

I'm very happy to see him go.

he was a one season wonder, and we are now paying a huge price for one good year. 12 wins inside 48 games sums it up.

This is the one club that GJ would LOVE to manage, and I can imagine he would jump at the chance saying he has taking City as far as they can go. (Bottom of L1 to Championship play off is not bad).

Contracts and money etc is always sorted out behind closed doors and if he wants to go, SL cant really stand in his way.

Anyone would have thought GJ haad gone thw ay some people are posting.

To be honest i don't really see what the attraction would be to Watford, i know Gj has got history there but finacially they are in a terrible state and he would have literally no money in January, they showed there lack of ambition by selling players like Ellington and Henderson beacause they culdnt afford them, also there attendenecs are worst thean ours.

I really cant see it happening to be honest, if GJ would be tempted away it would be by a Prem club.

If GJ does express an interest in the Watford job (only an "if") then how would that be any different from a player like Nick Carle who GJ was happy to let go because he showed an interest in the Palace approach, or Mifsud and other potential near-signings that (my paraphrasing) "didn't want to play for or commit to Bristol City".

Really hope this is all just nonsense, as Saturday's defeat and everything attached to it seems to have been blown all out of proportion. If GJ goes, let's get Wardy back. He's available. :icecream:
