Guest RiZiVi
Maynard is currently 9th on the list of "Most shots on target", Yeah, hes only scored 3, yet he hasn't had the correct service from the midfielders needed. I am 100% sure that goals will start coming, quickly. All he needs is time to adapt and the right service from the midfielders, instead of the ball being booted up the field to adebola. Thanks for reading my, *cough*, rant.
Always Ashton Red
I agree, I think he will have found confidence with his goal at palace. Maybe a start upfront with John but be the best option?
Guest RiZiVi
Although I think it would be wrong to drop Adebola after his recent performances, I think Trundle and Mmaynard would be the solution. Trundle likes to play the ball on the floor, when the ball is lofted at him, he controls it well, then he can play the killer pass to put Maynard through. Red Ferret
Another stat We are third in the table of Championship teams with the most shots on target so far this season Wolves - 143 shots Ipswich - 134 shots Bristol City - 129 shots http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Club...4~20087,00.html But obviously we are not putting the ball in the net. So I agree, Maynard is the out and out goalscorer we need. Put him alongside Dele for a run in the team I reckon. Someone needs to convert chances to goals
Always Ashton Red
Unfortunatly, I cant see trundle starting hopefully in the 16 though, Adebola will be on the bench played 90 mins at the weekend. John is strong and has the same type of footballing brain that Trundle has. I think John Maynard could work

The lad certainly knows where the goal is and could be a real diamond. I agree that we need to play football further up the pitch and he will latch onto through balls and flick ons but how the ball gets there is imaterial. Whether it's lumped forward, crossed from the wings or built through midfeild we need to retain the ball in their half and play some football. Less pressure on defence, more exciting for fans and more chance of goals - simple game.

Someone needs to convert chances to goals Those stats are really interesting and do suprise me somewhat. However, I don't think we've had the rub of the green this year in front of goal and have often been denied by good defending or good goalkeeping. Last year I thought we road our luck a lot and got away with it in many games. They say these things even themselves out over the course of season so I hope they eventualy will. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think our goal scoring ratio has been that bad. We just keep giving away really sloppy goals which keep making it harder for us to actually win games because we are always chasing the game. This especially relevant at home. Anyway, for me I would go for Stern John and Trundle combo up front or with Trunds dropping a bit deeper. Bring Maynard on in the last 20-30 mins and get him running the channels. Robbored
Maynard looked to me to be low on confidence last Tuesday in the reserve game even though he scored a well taken goal. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to see how coolly he took his goal at Palace. Hopefully he's regaining his confidence and I've no doubt that a fully firing Maynard will start scoring regularly. He is still a young lad and maybe moving to a new area, settling in to a new set-up with new team mates have taken its toll on him and he's only now begining to find his feet. I wouldn't want to see him as a lone striker. Thats a very specialist position and one that Adebola has played for much of his career. I'm looking forward to seeing the team sheet for tonight. I think the defence is predictable and the midfield will probably have just one change. Its the strike force that interests me most. Any combination from 4 is possible. Can't wait to see who Johnson goes for.

Personally I would be more than happy with Orr, Carey, Fontaine and McCallister.

Fontaine made unforced errors against Forest and at Palace so my guess is that he'll be rested.

Fontaine made unforced errors against Forest and at Palace so my guess is that he'll be rested. Fontaines errors may have been due to who he was playing with, but if you say allowing Tyson to get by him was an error, give some credit to Tyson because he played well, there were errors in defence after Tyson got into the box. I think Fontaine alongside Carey is the best central defence we have, both in defending and bringing the ball out. One other aside to this is, with McCallister in the team I believe it brings the best out of McCindoe, Fontaine, being left footed, allows McCallister to get forward.
