Why don't Any Of The Strikers We Sign Score Goals?

Why is it most of the strikers we sign come with good scoreing records, but as soon as they wear the mighty red and white shirt they seem to loose there goalscoreing touch. And as soon as we let them go they start scoreing again.Correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt scott murry the last player to score 20 goals for us(or was it Lita).Any suggestions why they turn into bad players when they put the red and white shirt on.Do we need a coach that specialises on goalscorers,if we already have one then hes obviously not doing a good job.Get a ex Premier League striker to coach them?

1) Because at the moment they are not getting the service from midfield, whether that is through the middle of the park or from the flanks.

2) Our strikers are being changed to frequently IMO. Not sure if GJ stil knows what his best partnership is (in front of the midfield we currently have). We need to stick with the same pairing for a good few games. For me = Trundle/Maynard.

I hear you and agree with your second comment. As far as stats go we are holding our own in "shots on goal" or "on target". We are not converting the opportunities. Now, it maybe that although our shots on goal are good statistically we may not be creating the space in front of goal which could be down to your comment on service.

We don't seem to have the midfield who can open up space except maybe in Noble and Williams, albeit it was in Russell, however Noble and Williams as we know are not played consistently enough.

I'm not just talking about this season, the past 4 or 5,Dare I say it but the Gas seem to produce one every season. Why cant we,I would of thought our acedemy was a lot better and the same with our scouting set up.But why are failing.

If we played at that standard now with the strikers we havethey would have 10-15 goals each and we would be 10 points clear. We are in the CCC now my friend. One of the touchest and most competetive in Europe.

I understand that but for one we couldnt afford our strikers if we were in that league.don't get me wrong I would prefer to be in this position ten 10 points clear in the league below, but you have to admit the scum keeps on producing quality strikers.anyway I'm straying off the point,my point is that when we sign a new striker they usually are banging the goals for there old club but as soon as they put the red and white shirt they seem to loose there form.It has got to be the coaching. So why not bring in a ex Premier League striker to coach.

Our strikers have forgotten how to score goals!

They may get the odd chance in the way we are playing, but i think the fear factor comes into it. What goes through the strikers head?

1) If i miss the fans will react badly?

2) will i get dropped if i miss?

3) My confidence is low, so i will pass?

You have to blame the manager, he is the one who decides which formation and how we use the ball.

don't take it out on the players, they are only getting told how they should play!

If the ball was coming in more readily from out wide, the centre or planet mars, the more chances a striker gets he will soon be finding the net more often. If he has 4 chances and scores with 1, form will return.

But if he only has the 2 chances there will be a lot more pressure in a game to put 1 away.

So change our style of play to include the attackers, and take a bit of that caution out of our game.

Your answer in a nutshell - dog shit midfield.

Then why the hell aren't the ground staff clearing it up prior to kick off.

It's all very well forking the area (and sounds fun too in the absence of a sweet blonde), but, if this is the problem, then they got to get on it.

Christ, you only need some tissue and a plastic bag. C'mon you lazy ####s, are team is losing cos of you. :ranting:

IMO our probs lie in midfield........as i have already said Marv cant do it on his own as he has done for the last 2 seasons.......the other 1 who i shall not name plays sideways and backwards balls only.....that can only do 1 thing and thats keep the defence busy not the strikers :tumbleweed:

we bring in two big goal scorers in Trunds and Maynard

never hit form for us, well so far

what does GJ do to them?

change their style of play?

We havent had what i'd call a ''natural goal scorer'' since Tony Thorpe. But I think the main problem is the midfield. Maynard looks like he could fit the bill.
