dezgimed
Surely if and when an new RB comes in, it'll be either: - Championship journeyman on his way out - Some sicknote, good but never plays - Someone from a lower League The latter option seems more likely. I cant see us improving in quality in the RB slot as the club clearly wont offer a new player any more than BO was offered, which by some accounts aint alot. Better players than Orr in this League will command a higher wage than someone lower down and as of yet unproven. So who from lower down are we bringing in?! :noexpression: P.S. don't say Wilson, defensively he isnt up to it.

So what you're saying is, with us being a lower half championship team we're going to struggle to buy a top quality Chamopionship or Prem player. Thanks. 'Orns
Christ, we've not even signed him yet and he's getting stick! Brad doesn't want to play for us anymore, and he's not the best right back in the Championship by a long way. We can improve on that area, unfortunately there's 8 or 9 others that we can improve on too!
dezgimed
What? I havent given stick to anyone. I'm suggesting the replacement will be a 'gem' albeit unproven from a lower league. Ie. lets speculate as to who.

Marvin Elliot so when this new central player comes in LJ can still play? Actually in the right back position i don't want anyone long term. We've Riberio to come through and it'd be a shame if we blocked his progress. So a short term cover solution for me is the best bet and I won't be disappointed if we get someone cheap and cheerful like Orr

CR might be a while off, and we've seen the damage of getting someone with less abilility. E.g. Jamie Smith!

I don't think he's after a permanent all singing dancing right back. Worst comes to worst and we can't find someone, we keep Orr for the rest of the season and miss out on the 200k or whatever we'd get in the window. CR might be a while off, and we've seen the damage of getting someone with less abilility. E.g. Jamie Smith! Ribeiro has started running, but will not be available until Easter at the earliest. If the club want to strengthen the right back, I wonder if this will be via a permanent move or maybe a loan till the end of the season. Some of the Arsenal youngsters may fit the bill. formerly known as ivan
The latter option seems more likely. Bris Red
I vote for the short term loan option, then give the number 2 shirt to riberio for next season, and see how he gets on. I agree i would deffinetly go for the loan deal up until the end of the season, i think Riberio has the potential to be a quality player at this level and maybe higher and next season he could really cement his place in the side. The question is who would be out there to loan, has anyone got any names?

brad blit
A friend of mine is a Charlton fan who used to say how good their new french signing Yassin ???was. Said he was really good, tall, quick, pacey and loved getting forward like a lower league Bosingwa. He signed for bout 300k but had an injury and struggled to get back into their team. With Charlton on an even bigger prob than us could we tempt them with a cheeky bid? Hes french and 22 by the way.

bh_red
I don't think he would have been good enough for this level IMO to be honest I didn't think he was that bad at this level, he was definately one of the better players at this level, though if I remember rightly he got switched into central midfield by benny. as for Orr, I've still got a feeling we haven't seen the last of him. Personally I feel that he repaid City's loyalty, by coming out of prison, getting his head down, getting fit, getting himself in the first team and getting the club promoted.........the only one of the 4 who's made a real impact at City since incident. If Orr had such a bad attitude, he would be kept away from the first team squad completely, not travelling to away games with the first team squad

If Orr had such a bad attitude, he would be kept away from the first team squad completely, not travelling to away games with the first team squad bh_red iv seen u support and defend Orr on numerous occasions and would like to kno what u know that hasnt been said offically. You point out he rejected the deal he was offered and accoridng to GJ that deal was on a par with other defenders in the squad. U say he has repaid Citys loyalty to him (personally i may disagree with this slightly) but even if he has why does he deserve to earn anymore than any other defender in the squad? If u kno somehting than fair enough, but i really cant understand why he should earn anymore than any other defender. Out of our solid back 4 last season McCalistar, Carey, McCombe and Orr(u could almost count Fontaine as well) Orr was not the stand out performer in my opinion (despite having a superb season) so why does he think he deserves more? and if u say "orr hasnt actually said that" then why has he turned down a contract?
