Fa Cup 100 Celebrations

I remenber not to long ago that there was talk of a game being arranged to mark 100 years since the Fa Cup final.

Not sure if this is going ahead or if other ideas were being put forward, but I have got the option of booking the stadium football pitch in Crystal Palace park (site of the final) at a reduced rate for the 24th of April. Anybody fancy a game?

The Supporters Trust is on the case and preparations are in hand. We had hoped to announce plans sooner, but such is the way with these things, the final details are still be hammered out.

We certainly think this is worth marking and many others think so too, including the club.

Please give us a few more days and we'll get something out about this. Some of the outstanding actions to finalise this rests with other parties.

Thanks

Any news as to whether the club will be issuing the blue BCFC 1909 FA Cup final shirt replica?

I hope they get the 1909 Bristolian BCFC badge right because I'm pretty sure the two unicorns would have been white and not gold. They also looked a lot more aggressive than the new gold version in our current badge.

I understand that one of the shirts worn in the original game has come to light.

The manchester united shirt has been available on Toffs for quite some time.

For all those who didn't read my thread on this last month here's some interesting trivia about the 1909 final.

Although we lost the game we had beaten United already that season.

The money gained from that final went on to be used in significant ground improvements at Old Trafford.

This Final was the first ever to have specialised shirts made (hence our blue strip)

On the front cover of 'Bristol City: the early years'. there is a picture of a blue shirt with a badge showing red unicorns.

You can just about see it here:
