St Andrews - What A Dump

Any more and we'll be in the majority. I liked the design of the stadium. It was non-symmetrical unlike those bowls that everyone hates.

Maybe they have the same problem as AG where Eastenders can't hear the other stands even if they were making a racket. Perhaps the Brum fans were singing??

I went to St Andrews many years ago when I recall walking through some god-awful estates to get there. I didn't have to remind myself to not go in the local boozers and ask for a pint of cider. This time I drove to a car park that was 200 yds away from the ground. It was the most convenient parking arrangement I've ever had home or away!! How times change.

Can't be the case because when they scored we could hear them (would say clearly but couldn't understand a word they were saying)

Was in the pub before the game and the bar staff were taking the piss out of our accent. I was like yea haha least I don't sound like a div. He then went on and said you must have come on a combine harvester and asked if I wanted I cider. He then shut his mouth when I informed him Strongbow is NOT a cider.

You were'nt in that gravel car park just down from the ground were you? Thats where I parked and we were kept waiting for ages as all the coaches left under police escort - mildy annoying after just being beaten.......

The very same one Sir. The best bit was that I had no intention of going in this car park as I was due to meet a (Brum ST holder) mate a bit away and get a bus in. However, the traffic caught me out and I was late so he suggested this car park as a fall back. It was perfect. Except, as you say, the delay to get off.

To top it all, I used my SatNav to come home. I had no idea where I was as I'd come from the North. The SatNav was obviously on the "take him around the houses for ignoring my instructions near his home" mode. Anyway, I eventually overtook those coaches at Jn 8 of the M5. And I wasn't exactly hanging about (100 :whistle2: ) before then....

the stadium bar the old stand on the left was ok, one of the better grounds to be honest compared to the likes of Reading, Swansea, Derby, Cov etc, all that said,

the atomosphere was uttterly crap, the kids to the right were nothing short of comedy (and magically seemed to double once they scored) it wasn't till they scored that I actually realised that there was also Brum fans above us.

the ht bloke was a joke! get behind the lads and keep up this great support......what support! they were dead!

Why does terracing look so fun!!

Wish i was older.

Because it was fun! especially away from home but there were drawbacks especially when it was raining.Very few away grounds had covered stands and AG was no different. I remember a very cold and snowy day at AG when Sheffield Wednesday were the visitors and about 10mins before the end the tannoy announced that the train back to Sheffield had been delayed and that they would have to stay behind in the opem end at AG after the game. They were not happy bunnies....we found that very amusing of course.

I was also in said car park.

I left right on full time, half walked, half jogged back to the car (had no intention of being stuck in Brum for ages) and was at the car park before most others were. Which meant I was directed out of back gate and was driving away barely 5 minutes after leaving the ground. Got back (Bedminster) at 11.15. Anyone beat that? :innocent06:

Partly (only partly!) made up for a crap night overall.

Bluenoses always struck me as miserable creatures when I used to live up there. The time that they were furious with the linesman for giving that offside from what was (I think) a throw-in was the loudest noise in the ground bar the goal.

I'd be frankly embarrassed if that was AG was like - 50 spotty 14 year olds gesticulating at the away fans and the only real sound from the home crowd being moaning. Although that description does sound a lot like AG 4 or 5 years ago.

B'ham City fan here. Read some of your posts about B'ham City fans being quiet and (apart from Keep-Right-On) we were. I was there last night and I can tell you you were as quiet as Doncaster fans in the second half. Usually such a big turn out would be noticed but, sorry lads even though we were watching what was occurring in the match, you volume was way down. As for the match, I thought Adebola should have scored and that would have made for a real tough match. See you in the play-offs PS The buildings behind the small stand are listed and because we are not Aston Villa, the council have dug their heels in and won't let us develop that side. We are currently in negotiations for a 60,000 seater elsewhere.

No probs Poppa. Not bothered what crowds you get.

That Bradley Orr looks a good player, he caught my eye on more than a few occasions. We know about Stern John and Adebola and as you realise from their receptions, we still have a healthy respect for them in B'ham. Truth be told they are still probably as good as we had out there.

All the best for the rest of the season - give us a wave at Wembley.

I did appreciate the reception given to Adebola and John.

Interesting you say that about Orr. We've looked more solid since he came back into the side after a spell of being left out because he refused to sign a contract. All that is resolved now. He is still prone to the occasional gaffe, mind.
