iWurzel
TribalFootball/The Sun are reporting we've put in a £1.5m bid for Sinclair I know his name has been mentioned on here this summer but haven't read anything in print about it: http://www.tribalfootball.com/chelsea-wing...tol-city-251266 They also claim we are interested in Gary McSheffrey http://www.tribalfootball.com/birmingham-w...tol-city-251265
Nogbad the Bad
God I hope you're wrong Noggers, was just starting to believe that GJ has seen the light that CM was one of our main weaknesses. I'd be gutted (but not surprised) if Marvin left, as in my opinion whoever replaces him probably won't be as good. My example of LJ was not meaning I think he should be in next season's first X1, or suggesting for one moment that GJ would adapt his role in order to keep him in the side. I think LJ has uncomplainingly filled a role for GJ that may not be his best one and his game would benefit from being in a less defensive role. It may well be that this Summer's transfer activity leaves him as a squad player only and it's not impossible, of course, that he won't even be at AG come August. It was just one scenario, as is a permanent start for Gavin Williams alongside DeSilva, or indeed an unexpected role for Artus. I'd agree that whoever replaced Marvin as an individual is very unlikely to be as good, but with the right players arriving to bolster midfield, especially wide right, the overall team should still be improved. With all the present manoeuverings the one combination I can't see coming to fruition is DeSilva/Elliott.

Nogbad the Bad
Not sure if Sinclair would come to City he came up through the Gas academy system plus is a GAS supporter If so, perfect chance for him to change allegiances then and ditch the gas for good, something you'd imagine most gasheads are deperately looking for an excuse to do. CiderHider
Chelsea don't want Sinclair and Sinclair wants to play football, a switch to his old town would make perfect sense. who cares if he played for the gas once a long time ago, i don't. I see what you're saying here and agree that perhaps selling marv for 3m(ish) and buying 3 players for £1m each would strengthen the team overall. I'm just being greedy and want us to spend the £3m without having to sell Marv! Of course business doesn't work that way but with SL's backing I suppose there's a glimmer of hope. Also, just noticed this: http://www.clubcall.com/middlesbrough/boro...aid-912731.html Maybe we won't get Sinclair afterall...

Clubcall writers have to come up with x number of stories per day so they just grab stuff from anywhere or make it up.

To be fair though, if it was a straight fight between us and Boro for any player I do think we'd be in with a decent shout. Horrible part of the world up there, and looking at their squad I can't see them bouncing back to the Prem straight away...

East Yorkshire CideRed
Fulham will land Bristol City midfielder Marvin Elliott, 24, for £3million (Yeah right!! ) Chelsea striker Scott Sinclair, 20, is set for £1.5million move to City while Birmingham are trying to sell them Gary McSheffrey. Spoke to my contact at Fulham (my company sponsor them) and he hadn't heard anything about Elliot. Added to the fact it looks highly likely he's signing a new contract, I would say that rumour is a load of old rubbish. Although, bizarrely, a few weeks back I bumped into a Middlesboro supporter in a South London pub (didn't lose too much of my pint, thank God) and he used to manage Marv when he was a kid (or so he told me). Was really chuffed that he had done so well.
