Any Railway insiders know of a cheaper option ? don't know how old you are but if aged between 16-25, you could always buy a young persons railcard which costs £25 and saves you a third on you're rail fare. So in this case you would save more than what the rail card actually costs you (albeit only a couple of quid, but the card lasts for a year). Mines saved me loads so far this season. 22A
You've left it a bit late to book in advance to make the biggest savings. 10.30 from Temple Meads direct to Sheffield = £54.50 and to get back; Sheffield to Temple Meads direct before 6.00pm is also £54.50, BUT the 18.52 arriving at 9.35pm is £28.50 and the 19.54 arriving at 5 past 11! is only £18.00 However a return valid for ANY time can be had for £73.00; these times and prices are from http://www.eastcoast.co.uk/ I also had a look at East Midlands Trains as they connect London with Sheffield. They want £59 each way just for that run. Also for those of us based this side of the country I checked East Coast for Kings Cross to Doncaster - £28 or £31 and £28 to get back. Donny - Sheffield can be had for just over a fiver return with a South Yorsks Day Ranger.
