Savage Defends Deby Defeat...

It all stems from this....

I'm glad I watched that interview, pictures for the words that made me laugh, "simple" - meerkat ... and "cup tie" - a tie with cups on it almost as good as the soccer am sketches

and ...

As annoying as RS is for his general personality clash with his own ego - I thought he played well on Saturday and that's why I clapped him off, I was annoyed but not surprised he didn't appreciate the claps and as usual used the boo's and abusive as his own motivation which is something that gets to me personally about his character.

One day a team will just ignore him and he wont know what to do!!

I LOVE that interview on youtube. Meerkat ("Simple!") and tie with cups on it aside, I also love "We've got to get £6m - £7m off the wage bill" accompanied by a picture of Savage laughing raucously whilst he sticks his head out of the window of his Lamborghini. Priceless.

I thought Savage did alright for the first five minutes of that interview. I loved how much he clearly cares, wants the club to do well, and wants everyone's support for that. I like the passion.

However, after that it goes downhill. Savage just argues himself in to a hole, whereby - through no prompting by the interviewer - he admits that Derby are cr*p and that they need 16 new players. Poor guy. The interviewer hardly has to say anything, and deliberately stays quiet. Guess that's why Savage is paid to play football, and the other guy is paid to talk on the radio.

Savage is not blessed with the smartestt mind and he's one of those footballers who has an inflated opinion of his own intellect. It was obvious after 90 seconds what point he was trying to make but his volcabularly is so limited he can't make his point clearly. He and Craig Bellamy are on a par. They could get into an arguement in an empty room.

I expect he's punditing for the BBC during the world cup - I'll be watching ITV in that case.

The guy made a dull end of season game worth watching on Saturday. Deliberately wound the fans up at the start of the game, played some neat football at times and got involved with the tosser in Dolman in the second half.

He knows that at his age he is the equivalent of a pantomime dame and he has fun with it. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a blood and guts encounter with PH. They almost seemed to be avoiding eachother, I wonder if that would have been different if there had been anything on the outcome?

As football gets more and more commercialised, characters like this get their personality "coached" out of the them by the clubs media training, because they are so frightened of what they might say. I will be watching him on the Beeb (if he's on) because you wont get the same inane sound bites out of him as you do with 99% of the pundits who are frightened of upsetting their "old mates" still on the pitch.

Needless to say that the video was made by a Forest fan....

I've always had a huge disliking for Savage, very much in the Warnock/Bellamy mould imo, gets too much credit when things are going well and then makes excuses and blames all and sundry when at fault.

There was one time last season when I thought I was mistaken however and that was when he refused to get involved in the fracas at Notts Forest earlier in the season on Sky. However, everything previous and since that event has re-established my view that he is in fact a nasty piece of work.

I reckon Savage is a legend. He is a wind up merchant on the pitch but not nasty. I met him at the hotel he was staying at just outside of Bristol and he was a top bloke. He told me to give him as much stick as poss cos he loves it. Those guys on Radio Derby are total d***s. Fair play to Savage sticking up for himself, his club and the coaching staff. The game needs more characters like him and less like Shaun Derry for example who is a horrible nasty piece of work and he is the reason why i would love Palarse to go down

Savage does appear to live in a parallel universe sometimes. 15 City fans saying Derby deserved to win????!!!????

He's clearly aiming to work in the media after his playing career and the "controversial bell end approach" appears to be the angle on his celebrity personality that he is going to sell.

He does have a point in the youTube clip. The local media do seem to be a platform for moronic poo throwers. That gashead Geoff TwentyPence gives too many people a platform to hurl abuse at City.

As has been hinted above, his biggest let-down is he keeps pretending to be intelligent, and fails miserably.

God knows why the BBC want to push his career in punditry.
