CiderHider
Lots of short sighted reason against it as suspected. Some of them are talking like its the Holy land or something the way they are banging on, Jesus. Have these people really got nothing better to do with their time?. What gives them the right to decide just becuase they live near by? Own selfish personal interests perhaps?

BCAGFC
I would have much more respect for them if they just came out and said, "we don't want a stadium in our back yard" but they are trying to cover things up by making out that the land is an oasis and a community hot-spot. If the NIMBYs fail with this application and the guaranteed appeal, are there any other loopholes they can use to delay the project or will the NSC road access be the final hurdle?. Dollymarie
The land is a former dumping ground and contaminated for christs sake. Oh and it belongs to our chairman so they've been trespassing all these years as well. But sod all that, won't someone think of the newts!

Oh and it belongs to our chairman so they've been trespassing all these years as well. But sod all that, won't someone think of the newts! Precisely Dolly. Here's a call to all small businesses, especially the plumbers, electricians, builders and carpenters. we know you find it hard to pay the ridiculous fees now being demanded for offloading your van loads of waste. be a friend of Bristol and re-populate the 'green land' previously known as an ugly smelling dump with your waste. myol'man
If they are taking their kids there for walks and picnics, they should be reported to social services for child abuse. That bit of land is a former tip, back when the rules weren't as tight as they are now. Old car batteries, dirty engine oil, asbestos, dead dogs, and lot of other c**p you wouldn't want in your back garden has been dumped there over the years. And the nearest thing to an Otter that ever lived there was a ****ing big rat!!!
mark43
If only the Long Ashton residents had some other nice green fields they could use rather than this former rubbish dump... What's that? Ashton Court.... Just look at the place, there aren't many places surrounded by more greenery http://maps.google.c...n&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=15.006879,37.880859& ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Long+Ashton,+Bristol,+Avon,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.434374,- 2.658863&spn=0.030874,0.073986&t=h&z=
grove park city
Welcome to the new National Trust Park of Ashton Vale , might as well shut the zoo down and move it to the lush rolling grasslands of this undiscovered wildlife paradise.....Bill Oddy,Kate Humble and Chris Packham really have missed the boat get the cameras rolling how many types of mangy hounds and stray cats can be seen sweeping across this stunning landscape. Will they dig extra long piles into the ground and effectively float the stadium above the land fill, or will they excavate the landfill somewhere else? When they built all those poncey waterfront appartment on the Hotwells side of the docks, they had to dig away the top 6 feet of soil because it was contaminated by the old gas works Guess we'll have to do the same for the Ashton Vale site

There is nothing to touch it. Forget the peak district or the lakes, forget exmoor or the south west coast. They are nothing, nothing, compared to the idyllic leafy eden that is Ashton Vale. An Ashton Vale rabbit yesterday, shortly before Martin King killed it.

Guest
The green town app is surely flawed on the basis that it has to have been accessable to the public for over 20 years. In 1991 it was still a landfil site and therefore doesn't even meet the first criteria of such an application. Quite how it's got this far is a mystery. Superjack
Granted it's not like I pass them every day, but I have never ever seen anyone walking in those fields and with good reason, they are little more than a marsh. BCAGFC What doesn't need planning permission is a fun fair; it doesn't even need to go through the council as it is on private land. One site near me that was having difficulty getting planning permission for a few years put on a fun fair through the summer. They were granted their planning permission in the autumn.
