If The Season Started Tomorrow..........

The Helsingborg players are approximately on 1/3 to 1/4 of the sallary of our players.

There might be one or two who'd more than welcome a move to BCFC then.

Did you spot any likely lads that may have impressed SC?

I think we're all aware that we need new signings, but your constantly coming out with babble.

You won't be happy unless we have instant success, but this is football, and success takes time.

We don't have an unlimited amount of money to splash on big signings, we also have a new manager who will look to implement his style of play on a bunch of 30 odd lads.

They will need time to adjust.

This is a season to get our feet on the ground and a base in which to proceed from.

I for one will not be unhappy if we don't make the play offs this year.

I love bristol city, and i'm very excited for the next few seasons of coppell football.

Unfortunately,

I'm sure your the sort of nause who will be posting coppell out posts when we don't get top 6 at the end of the season.

Just because you are easily pleased with anything city do, i am not,

We have 24 players not 30, we shipped out 9 already.

We do have money to spend otherwise its pointless giving Coppell the job, just aswell kept Millen, Coppell has been brought in for his knowledge and contacts at a higher level, he also knows what type of player we require to gain promotion.

We are building a new stadium which will hold 30,000 + , well we need to start buying better quality players to stay in touch with the top sides in this league and gain promotion.

The current squad will not be good enough in my oppinion.

if you are happy with the current squad fair play to you.

Well its 26, and if you include O'Flynn 27.

But lets not be petty aye?

At no point did i say i was happy with the squad, read the first sentence of my post.

Nor did i say i was easily pleased with anything bristol city do.

You're assuming i'm a happy clapper, When in all fairness i'm a realist.

It takes time to get success, or you can do a cardiff, waste a load on wages/signings hoping and prarying your'll go up,

but then end up not reaching your goal, leaving you penniless on the verge of going bust.

Your comments are so brain dead it makes me laugh, 'the current squad signals relegation' and 'miles away from a decent team in my oppinion' - followed by 'we're 3 - 4 quality players short of a good side'

well which one is it? As you've lost me.... 'realist' terjon...? More like mentalist!

It's all very well giving terjon stick, but watching some of the dire performances last season I lost faith with a number of City players.

With what we've got left after the Summer clearout I'm happy with Fontaine, Skuse, Maynard and Haynes.

Reasonably happy with Marvin, Orr, Gerken and JCR, hopeful of Cisse and very hopeful of Ribeiro and Albert.

But even many of these need better players around them - I reckon we still need at least 3 and, when signed, they need to then be amongst our very best and most reliable first choice players.

Exactly but the most important thing is not to rush in and buy players which coppell has stated he's giving this whole squad a chance to prove themselves he's a new manager who can bring the best out in our own players we already have !

I remember when Orr was total ball bag and gj turned him in to a fantastic right back , who knows what coppell might be able to do !

We think we know what players we need but do we ! We may already have them once coppell works his magic !

i agree with some of your posts terjon, we shouldnt be complacent and should try to achieve more however just because we have coppell its not going to be instantly a success.

he's going to need time to adapt the squad to the way he likes to play.

also completely unrelated to this topic i thought your comment about cisse was a bit harsh considering he hasnt played for us yet.

Helsingborgs IF played without their best central midfielder Marcus Lantz but I still think Steve Coppell was most impressed by their central midfield pairing of Ardian Gashi http://www.hif.se/La...en/ardian_gashi and Abdul Rahman "Abbe" Khalili, 18. Khalili was best man on the pitch and should be signed as soon as possible. Still hard to find on internet.

Also Erik Sundin up front had a really good game http://www.hif.se/La...pen/erik_sundin Rasmus Jönsson is probably already to expensive for us http://www.hif.se/La.../rasmus_jonsson

I also believe that there is a genuine interest in Marcus Olsson, Halmstad BK.

Cheers Tommy, some interesting names there.

That's a big advantage of a tour like that, spot an outstanding player in the opposition and there's a good chance City could snap him up.

Sure they would jump at the chance of Championship football - do you think any of the above, however impressive on the day, actually have the makings of a top end Championship player?

Did you get the chance to make any recommendations to SC in the post TT socialising?

Not so daft as it may sound, you genuinely seem to have your finger on the pulse as regards Scandinavian talent, and there must be real bargains to be had out there.city.gif
