Marv Or Skuse?

Just wondering who you would play alongside little lee because it shows marv and skuse cannot play together because they are similar players. Personally i would play skuse because he will run all day like marv but can create better than marv so thats my reason, however the saying goes you should never change a winning team. Thoughts?

If we are restricted to the OP's two then Elliot by a mile. Although I've seen Cole have the odd good game - he always works hard and has high energy - he doesn't seem to have much discipline in holding a position, can't pass and rarely gets forward to pose a goal threat , which Marv will do. Wouldn't mind seeing how Cisse turns out - he may be the best of all three.

I dont see Johnson as a long term option either simply because he isnt a consistant performer.... For example he was fantastic on Tuesday night, yet backed out of pretty much everything and had a poor game 3 days later.

I'd probably keep him and Elliott in midfield for now, but central midfield is an area that needs addressing in January imho.

I prefer Elliot with LJ. They seem to bring the best out of each other and Elliot does alot of running to compliment LJ's less aggressive style.

Elliot for me without hesitation. I don't think Skuse has done much this season. He is an ok all-rounder, but isn't great at anything and he doesn't create much and hardly ever scores. Marvin isn't the player he was in his first season, but has shown more this season than Skuse. I also agree with a couple of points made by others: 1. That LJ (he's the best we have in that role currently) and Marv play better together than Lj & Skuse and 2. That it would be interesting to see Cisse play with LJ. For now though I would stick with the current pairing and in fact the current team until Ribeiro is fit again.

If Lee Johnson is defintiely playing, then right now it must be Elliot who is selected alongside him. He has been very good in the last 3 games and must keep his place, more so than Johnson. Hopefully Skuse will return to the form he showed for much of last season soon, as he has been disappointing so far.

(Haha) No its not.

Its Brian Howard of Reading.

Leon Britton of Sheffield United.

Jay-Lloyd Samuel of Bolton Wanderers.

These 3 players could add so much quality to our squad.

Howard - yes, sign him up!

Britton - don't know enough about him (I'm assuming he was the Britton that played for Swansea - in which case I doubt we could sign someone who's only recently signed for Sheff U)

Samuel - I'm not sure what he would be like and I am a bit wary about signing full-backs from Bolton! I'm not sure if he gets any games there, as seems to be a fringe player (so maybe a possibility). I assume he would be on high wages though and not sure that his distribution would be much better than JM's. I would prefer an up-and-coming youngster to push JM for that spot.

You may be right about Samuel, his wages wont be cheap and hes been in there reserves for quite a while now... The thing is i dont know of any decent left backs who we could sign? Walker looked great for QPR the other night, can he play right back aswell as left back i wonder.

The average form in a poor side last season. I can't wait. At the moment on current form he has to be 3rd choice

At the start of the season I would have said Skuse, but he's been disappointing in the games he's played so far and gone backwards from the performances he showed he's capable of producing last season. If Lee Johnson is in the team and he's essential as it stands, then Elliott has to play for me. Whilst he hasn't shown the same form as his first season, he played his best football alongside Johnson in a two man central midfield and his recent performances have been the closest to his best for a while.

Elliott still has work to do when he's on the ball, but with Johnson alongside he will always have an easy ball, which means he can concentrate on doing what he's best at, closing down and winning back possession.

Skuse would also improve playing next to Johnson IMO, so it's a good dilemma to have.

Walker is a right back, but I assume you meant your question the other way round. I would doubt though if he could play or be effective on the left. Anyway, his loan spell would be either for 6 months or a year and can't see him wanting to play for us rather than the top team in the division. You are right about a lack of decent left-backs. We're also limited by the fact that we have a big squad, so can't pay too much in wages. I would guess that Tom Williams' contract won't be renewed in Jan and our best hope would be a young Prem player on loan. In danger of going seriously off-topic, but has anyone got suggestions of any good young left-backs we could get on loan in January?

Marv over Skuse all day long.

As per the others then Samuell i read recently is coming to the end of a 25k a week contract and already has attractive offers from abroad.

Britton's one year into a 3yr deal and playing well apprently at Sheff Utd. Why would he come here?

Howard's not been the force he once was since leaving Barnsley. Must be about 29 now?!

Ryan Harley ticks all the boxes for me though happy with LJ till Jan.

Yes would be good as a replacement for Rose, when his loan ends. May end up costing a fair bit more though, if we don't make a move soon. I'm not sure he would be good in the centre though, which is what we are desperately crying out for.

Harley's an out and out playmaker in the centre though he did play left wing for our academy at times. Cutrently playing behind two strikers at Exeter.

Out of contract at the end of the season and Norwich are the latest club to show interest. Loads of clubs linked with him i read in the sunday indy.

Left footed, bristolian, good age can pick a pass/score and a set piece specialist. Only thing that lets him down is lack of pace.
