Mentioned Keynsham something or other

Anyone know who it belongs to, bet he's sorry to be missing this weather.

Situated alongside a Millwall flag , does that mean we are friends again ?

Great result , well played England.

My eldest sons school friend emigrated to Aus, and is going to all the games.

Massive City fan.

Oh dear,

I love cricket for the game, for watching the nuances of the game, it's like reading a good book

.

I hope if I was ever lucky enough to go to an Ashes tour, I would be miles away from this rabble. It would do my crust in, sat (or standing by the looks) for 8 hours with this lot!

It AIN'T football.

totally agree

No it ain't football. Cricket is about as close to science that you'll get without actually being a science. A wonderfull game.

I'm kinda on the fence about the chanting. I did laugh when an Aussie batsman was trudging off to chants of 'cherio, cherio'. Not something the Australians are used to and the more pain they feel the better after dominating England and all of cricket for 20 odd years and being so smug about it.

That said I certainly wouldn't want to hear some of the other base line chants that we hear at football grounds.

Yeh, they pays their money and they can do what they want if they enjoy it, fair enough.

My point is, most of them wouldn't know an off break from a chinaman and I'd rather chew my own foot off than be within a cow-corner hoik of them, but as someone said " each to his own" I spose.

Yet they are the ones who travel half way across the world, spending their hard earned money and annual leave to go and watch CRICKET!

I think you might underestimate their love of the game!

Fair play to them. I was watching them singing and celebrating as every Aussie wicket tumbled and really wished i was there right now. Personally, i know very little about the finer details of Cricket, but i know i would love to be there enjoying myself as much as they are doing!

Fantastic result.

Does anyone know, is there segregation at the Ashes (a la football) or can you purchase tickets where you want?

I know that signed up members of the Barmy Army have their own allocated parish at every cricket ground they attend. If you are just a regular England supporters you can buy tickets for anywhere else in the stadium.

Look out for another BCFC Flag at the 4th and 5th tests :dancing6:

And for what it matters, if at all - I think the barmy army do no harm to the game. There's so much banter in the game as it is (Especially between the players) chants of "Cheerio" as mentioned, just add to the fun...but 8 hours? Possibly a bit much...

And in answer to another question - You can sit where you like, although most grounds have "Members Only" areas (i.e. Home sections for either domestic or international games).

I personally go for the best view, but if I'm doing two Ashes tests, I might just have to join the barmy army for one of them... :englandsmile4wf:

i think the barmy army are fantastic, cricket is no longer the pipe and slippers game it was 20- 30 years ago, it has moved on , the different formats of the game are ensuring that, it is much more commercialised than it has ever been and the whole image of the game is changing. the barmy army are lending themselves to that and all power to them, long may they continue to be our 12th man when our cricket team plays abroad

slatibartfest, sorry but i think you underestimate the knowledge and passion that these people display :englandsmile4wf::englandsmile4wf::chant6ez::chant6ez:

as someone already pointed out, they spend a ruddy fortune following the team all over the world. I'm sure most of them know a lot more about Cricket than anyone here.

I think you've got a very blinkered view on cricket, it's not a game of gentlemen, it hasn't been for nigh on 50 years!

Cricket is a game with a richer drinking culture within the players than football or rugby! the banter on the field of play is worse than anything you'll hear within the stands of a football stadium and it's a game littered with cheats, fixers and corruption...

I love the game, agreeing with Robbo that it's close to a science but to make out that the Barmy Army are not in keeping with the traditions of cricket is absurd

I feel (just my opinion of which I'm entitled) that a lot of them are there purely for a form of self aggrandisement There appears to be a "look at me,don't bother pointing the camara at the game" mind set.

A lot of their songs are about the BA not England cricket team at all, we are the main event here !

I'm not really knocking them or their enthusiasm, but it ain't for me. Anyone else feel this way, or am I just peeing in the wind?
