Stead Injury

I do agree, but it did come across that Haynes wanted to go, and we also don't know who accepted the bid?

I really hope SL sticks one last million on the debt right now, loan a striker and bring in a midfielder. PLEASE?:sign09:

i'm sorry it has only been spun in that direction by people trying to absolve Millen from any blame once more. The club received an offer, the club accept the offer, the club tells the player we've had an offer which we have accepted, hardly a way to make the player feel wanted is it.

and now Millen tells us the signing of a striker is the priority, it's really perverse, only last season we had a manager accused of being obsessed by strikers and so far Millen has signed 2, loaned 1 and shipped out 2 and is now looking for another.

I don't know where all this talk of "Haynes super striker" has come from he has never been prolific had one really outstanding game for us (against West Brom) in 2 seasons and has shown very little interest when played this season. If you want to play him upfront because he is quick, you might as well play Ivan as a striker, at least he appears to want to play. It seems that some people want to take any piece of bad news as an opportunity to criticise the Manager.

Why is it spin? out of interest? I mean, you know he didnt want to go?

and are you saying we didn't need these strikers? if we hadn't signed Pitman and Stead (who did he loan? I thought coppell brought in vokes?) we'd be a lot worse than we are now!

and would you not agree that the two he got rid of were duds that needed getting rid of?

My point is more about numbers, the manager was quite happy to put a guy needing an op whom he knew could'nt actually play any part whatsoever on the bench for a championship game, when surely having him somewhere warm resting with his leg would surely have been more professional.

sorry esmond your wrong this time,

You can't blame millen for stead one specialist said he'd be fine until the end of the season with an injection another said he needs an op,

Medical staff to blame Keef can only go on their and the players advice

if you read what was said on the main site about the Haynes sale it is as I described, so someone is spinning it either the club or forum posters.

I agree that Haynes and Akinde needed to be moved but the timing was at best appalling.

OK so knowing and actually stating before the game that a player was unable to even participate in any way shape or form in that game and putting him on the bench is what?, why not do the same with Maynard then?.

Fact is though prior to his departure KM had picked him to start 10 times this season and Clarkson 6 times, which tends to suggest that he thought DH was the better bet.

I accepted the argument that Haynes had to go because we couldn't shift Clarkson and presumed we'd moved Danny on in order to strengthen the squad with a new player or two, which would have been fair enough, but we have now ended up with just two strikers to choose from and one of those would have been fifth choice had Maynard, Stead, Pitman and Haynes ever all been fit at the same time.

Not good, is it?

it was on the day of the game yes but city's squad was already named when stead pulled out now I'm not an expert on the rules but I don't think we can name a replacement that soon before a game,

I'm no lover of keef and i don't think he has it in him to take us the the next level, but I do think its unfair to blame him this time thats all,

Then go one player light on the bench, which in effect is what we did hardly professional way to go about it though.

No, your spinning it.

You clearly and conveiently missed the comment where Millen said to Haynes he was more than happy for him to stay and fight for his place in the team.

Unlike Akinde & Sproule, where he clearly and publically said...Find yourself another club because you won't be here beyond this season.

I refer the right honourable member to this reply (I have highlighted the pertinent sentence):-The club received an offer, the club accept the offer, the club tells the player we've had an offer which we have accepted, hardly a way to make the player feel wanted is it.

i'm sorry but the sale of Haynes really does have to be questioned in the light of this news and also having Stead on the bench at Palarse what was that all about.

I dont agree.....the long term priorities were & still are Left back & creative midfield and we have to unload to be able to bring in any quality in these positions

Haynes was obviously the only player anyone has shown any interest in and so had to go for that reason ....regardless of his interest to play and all that crap spouted on here

It was either Haynes go or forget getting in what we need most ,,,,,,it is unfortunate that the stead injury has blown up so quick but he has need this op for a while and only Maynards delayed return has stopped it till this point

Why panic over stead being out ?......yes we need to get at least one similar player in on a loan to cover and yes we are short for a game or two but we have plenty of players who can play upfront......Rose / Adomah / Sproule all first teamers who are capable of putting in a shift up top if required - not the same type as stead agreed which is why KM priority now is to find one on loan but just as good.....we will probably have to change our style of play until we get that type of player in but that might not be so bad the way we have been recently

If I were KM I would be bashing on a certain Mr Iwelumo's door right now if the "talks with Preston" is true

I agree with everything you say regarding the motives of the sale of Haynes, unfortunately it has backfired as now the priority is the signing of a striker (Millen's quote this morning) and not the midfielder and left back, he has intimated that he'll go with the defenders we have at present (a sound decision given our circumstances) so we await a striker and maybe a midfielder.

Alright Mulder, got any more wild conspiracy theories?! At the end of the day, Clarkson has done more this season than Haynes so i'd rather have the former than the latter. Obviously we need some more bodies in the squad, but maybe this is the time to put some faith in the academy? Jackson may not have pulled up any trees so far on his loan trips, but i actually don't think he can do any worse than Danny "Our Saviour, Why Did We Foresake You?" Haynes did in the first half of the season

How is that a theory? it is what is being put out by our manager in his interview about Haynes transfer on the main site.

i'm not arguing about the abilities of Haynes or Clarkson, my problem is the timing especially given the uncertainty over Stead, but thanks agent Scully.

I think it does outline the pressure the club must be under to reduce the wage bill.

I would prefer this to be honest. like some others and (judging by post sale interviews) Haynes himself, he was looking stale and disinterested. Give Marlon a go, if he should be hungry enough to give it his all, he could have a good 6-10 games to show if he has anything about him. Who knows, playing with better players he may flourish.

Massive blow losing Stead. One of a very few who looked interested in our shirt.. Maybe we'll sell or loan out another of our strikeforce soon, amazing.

My club is looking more broken by the day.

Gonna have to have a serious think about renewing.
