22A
Last year they stayed up despite finishing in a relegation spot as a higher placed team was demoted as a punishment. Someone on here claimed those in charge of WSM were both corrupt and inept. Were they replaced, have they changed their ways or was last year's poster just spouting off? And the Bliss's seem alright, inept for sure but corrupt might be a bit harsh.
Admin phantom Posted May 23, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted May 23, 2011 Last year they stayed up despite finishing in a relegation spot as a higher placed team was demoted as a punishment. Someone on here claimed those in charge of WSM were both corrupt and inept. Were they replaced, have they changed their ways or was last year's poster just spouting off? Last few seasons Weston have struggled with putting an expensive manager in place who has filled the team with journeymen not really worth their place in the team. They had been saved by two teams merging (Hayes & Yeading), and last season Salisbury were deemed to have broken league rules and were demoted instead. Last summer Weston brought in a manager from Bridgwater and he brought in lower league players that had not played at Conference South level before, and found a new hunger in the side. Add to that the Centre Half and captain (Craig Rand) who is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in non league football, suddenly things clicked. Weston eventually finished mid table and won the Somerset cup at Yeovil for the first time in their history. they've been saved from relegation on non playing terms for the last 4 or 5 seasons, it truely is remarkable. And the Bliss's seem alright, inept for sure but corrupt might be a bit harsh. It was amazing how many teams passed by their league, various teams merged and others broke numerous league rules, so clearly WSM were keeping their noses clean off the pitch. Jordan Tansley
For the reasons you outline above phantom. They allowed manager after manager to spunk money they don't have for no success whatsoever

Jordan Tansley
Too true, thought you may have had some secret info Nope, Just the way they come across. I suppose you could say that a little harsh, Running a small club like WSM is never an easy job. The fact the club can continue to exist is an achievement in itself. Though as you say above, they have had some quite outstanding luck.
westred1
Nothing to do with them beating Yeovil but I got told the other day by a few friends that have sat on the bench for Weston (18-20 year olds) that Weston players for the past couple of seasons have bet week in week out for Weston to lose against every team they were playing. Surprisingly, or not, Clayton Fortune, Mr Viera himself, and Josh Klein-Davies (was at City as well) were the main culprits and used to put 100s of £ on games for Weston to lose - match fixing at its best but has never been brought to the league or FA's attention! They also said that Klein-Davies used to slag off Gary and Lee Johnson off rotten on the coach on away days with Fortune's opinions on this being from a supporters perspective.
