Football Finances

Incredible, just came across this. Look at the debt figures in the PL, Man City a wage bill 106% of turnover. This UEFA Financial FairPlay thing is going to hit a lot of clubs methinks- and before people say loopholes, UEFA etc have been working on this for a few years now, sure they won't miss a simple loophole.

Hollowhead notwithstanding, I like how Blackpool's wagebill is only £13m- yet they still are in with a chance of survival albeit a slim one. Having said that, last season 144% of turnover on wages!

On a City related note, given these figures would we want to make the PL? Unless we do a yo-yo club a'la WBA and maybe but less likely Blackpool, look how bloody expensive it is!The debts and losses required just to be sustainable are crazy money.

For us to be in the Prem I think it would depend on whether we had a new stadium or not.

With a new stadium I think we would try and model our finances like Stoke, wealthy backer who's a fan of the club and now ready to start there 4th season in the top flight without relying on his money for everything.

I hope this Ueafa ruling does come about.
