I discovered talking heads greatest hits album 'once in a lifetime' about 10 months ago and it is class

I didnt realise how many songs i recognised bwithout knowing it was them (psycho killer, once in lifetime, this must be the place, road to knowhere), plus the ones id never heard before are for the most part class also

Bloc Party 'silent alarm' has been hammered ever since released and is prob my fav album ever. good to see 'shes hearing voices' was on original posters list. what a tune

Also the playlist says that most of gaslight anthem's '59 sound' album, about half of 'manners' by passion pit, and select songs off all three eagles of death metal albums are up there. I think thats since i have owned the ipod though not this year.

As for more recent stuff theres a band that are called tame impala that are good, smack them in youtube they have got at least 5 cracking tunes, most of which also have cool videos. Album is called 'innerspeaker', but i would actually recommend watching the videos as for once i think they genuinely add to the music

Ahh growing up I had Talking heads installed up on me by my brother, along with PiL, Sex pistols, Devo etc... Glad you mentioned it, not listened to Talking heads for a while. Byrne is a genius.

Silent Alarm is simply a masterpiece. It will be up there in the top 10 greatest ever albums.

Well impressed with your last choice Highridge Larry Williams and Johnny 'Guitar' Watson I thought I was the only one who albums by the them, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson was amazing successfully went from blues to R & B to soul to funk and his disco albums are awesome, Jimi Hendrix learned a lot of his tricks from Watson.

No clue how you get ten most played of the year, and my ipod is a colourless white brick that does nothing but play music, so no idea if it even allows that option. So, most played since I had to reinstall itunes:

Jay Z - Empire State of Mind

Arcade Fire - (Antichrist Television Blues)

Arctic Monkeys - A Certain Romance

Glasvegas - Daddy's Gone

Jay Z - 99 Problems

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

Stone Roses - Mersey Paradise

Beatles - Here Comes The Sun

Colourfield - Windmills of Your Mind

House of Love - Destroy the Heart

sitting just outside the top 10 are various offerings from Public Enemy, Kasabian, KRS-1, Icicle Works and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

And, from reading the previous posts, a thumbs up to Ted Sheed for impeccable taste with the inclusion of The Chameleons and Mantronix.

Cheers mate,

Glad you mentioned KRS-1 as well, recently downloaded a track called 'outta here' by him which is a current favourite of mine

Well I tend to listen to a CD rather than just a song so am going to list those. Almost impossible to narrow down but here goes:

1 String Quartet K465 'the Dissonance' by Mozart.

2.Impromptus by Schubert

3.Symphony no.5 by Mahler

4.Le Tombeau de Couperin, original piano version by Ravel.

5.Kind of Blue by Miles Davis

6. Maiden Voyage by Herbie Hancock

7.Soft Machine Six by Soft Machine

8.Boomer's Story by Ry Cooder

9.Electric Dreams by John McLaughlin and the One Truth Band.

10. Elis and Tom by Elis Regina and Antonio Carlos Jobim

and if I'm allowed an eleventh I'd like 'Land of Hope and Glory' to replace 'God Save the Queen' (or King) so that our national team doesn't have to attempt to sing, or mime, that dreadful dirge before international matches. A ludicrous lyric, a supernatural being that in all probability doesn't exist 'saving', whatever that means, someone who shouldn't. Hope that's not too controversial.
